ORIGINAL: AndyF I'm not sure I understand your question, but you could use very thin plywood 1/16'' or 1/32'' to match the shape of the rails and paint it to look like metal. If you need it to slide then you could try using some of the small square tubing that would slide inside of another piece square tubing. You might find online something that you could repurpose to do what you want. Andy
Thanks for the suggestion Andy! My seats are able to slide freely, yet have a bit of tension to prevent it from sliding up and down from the engine vibration. My next task is to make cushions for the seats and also look for material that resembles leather.

RE: Landing Lights
I had Dan Gill make me landing lights for a Cessna I am building. As picky as I am, I was amazed that I could find nothing wrong with the lights he modified for me. Not only do they look nice and scale-like, they are EXTREMELY BRIGHT. He warned me not to look into them when turned on, but silly me, I did, and was blinded there after for a good minute or so.

RE: Building the Hangar 9 Cessna 182 Skylane
I am not sure if this is the best thread to post my question about how to achieve my goal here, but I’ll try and feel free to direct me if you have the answer. I have been planning on building seats for the Cessna to resemble what the full scale ones look like. I thought about having rails of sorts to install the legs of the seats on, such that you can slide the seats forward and backwords. I have been searching online for miniature rails, tracks or anything similar that is light in weight. I intend the install rails on the removable floor panel. Any suggestions or advice on what to do will be greatly appreciated. Attached is a picture of two seats I have constructed so far.
ORIGINAL: AndyF Okay thanks I remember now. Two questions for you, what prop are you using? What size tank did you use? Thanks, Andy
Hi Andy: I used a Xoar wooden prop, 16 x 8. I think this setup would run well. Have not flown it yet but the thrust was adequate even at half throttle. The original fuel tank is what I used and gave me close to 16 minutes mostly at half throttle, while running the engine a little rich. I will dial down the needle valve the next time until I find the optimum setting.

RE: Building the Hangar 9 Cessna 182 Skylane
I run a full tank of fuel this afternoon. I must admit that this is really a sweet sounding engine. I believe at a needle valve setting of 2.75 turns the engine was still runing very rich. It took approximately 15 minutes 45 seconds for the tank to empty out at about half throttle, occasionally opening up to full. Next time I intend to turn the needle vavle 1 full turn and see. Over all a great engine.

Like I stated after we spoke he ended up informing me that he has ok'd the return of any new in package product I want to return regarding this mess. RE: Used 14MZ thoughts?
ORIGINAL: bem Hi, I have a 14MZ since 3 years back. Things I check with a second hand 14MZ would be about this. 1. First, newer mean you will probably have the better LCD screen then was in the first years (I do not know exactly when the better LCD was starting to be installed from factory). Better response and as I have understood little sharper. But You still will have problem reading the LCD screen in bright sunshine (I wish 14MZ had the 18MZ brightness). 2. I use the heavy duty springs for the sticks so the sticks get little stiffer. I did not like the original softer springs. I do not know if Futaba later installed from factory the stiffer springs in newer 14MZ. 3, The throttle stick travel is limited from factory (at least it was on mine) and I removed the travel stop to get full travel (and recalibrated). 4. Latest software is nice to have installed (You can see what latest version is on Futaba US homepage). 5. I use two transmitter batteries for my 14MZ since one will not be enough for a whole day flying. I use Futaba original TX batteries but 3rd party (Sony) batteries are avaliable at lower price. 6. Transmitter balance is not good with 2.4 GHz module in use since the nack strap has mounting position and proper balance point for the ordinary metall antenna extended. I tried a TX balancer but then the neck strap in TX came loose so I had to send it in to Futaba service center to get it tightened (almost whole radio had to be taken apart to get to the nut on inside). I do not use TX balancer anymore because of that. 7. It can be kind of steep learning curve to do more advanced programming of 14MZ but there are many excellent videos and also Futaba FAQ on US homepage that give many answers. And since You have a Futaba 10C today You are familiar with Futaba systems. 8. I would also send it in to Futaba service center for check/service and install latest software (and if you prefer the stick travel modification and stiffer spring for sticks). Maybe have the internal small battery replaced also but it should last many years so probably not needed. Older 14MZ has potentiometers that was not as good as in later transmitters. You may perhaps want Futaba service check that also. 9. Make sure the serial no is still there under the TX (You can also see it on screen in System menu, Information, Product ID). You probably need it in future for various situations. Maybe register at Futaba Flyers Club require You supply TX serial no? I know Futaba Japan homepage has some download page that can only be accessed with help of TX serial no (but Futaba US homepage will have all downloads You should need so...). Remember also that 14MZ TX is region coded so You can not (easily) change if needed from one region to another for example from US to Europe Yourself (it is possible to do Yourself with proper software but should be done by Futaba service center). For example the transmitter TM-14 2.4 GHz module is region coded so if You live in US You will have a US version (and I live in Europe/Sweden and have a TM-14 for my region). No Futaba recievers are region coded as You probably know so You can buy them anywhere in the world. Whether receiver will be included in a second hand 14MZ I would not consider important. But it was probably R6014HS (there was also a R6014FS that in the beginning had some heat issues) shipped with the radio when it was new. If You would prefer telemetry later with a 14MZ it will be possible since there is a LCD Telemetry-box (holder mounted in old antenna hole) or WIFI-box, and a new receiver R6308SBT (avaliable soon). But this wil add about US $370 and then You start to be close to price of 18MZ when You compare a newer second hand 14MZ added with telemetry. In some years 18MZ will be avaliable second hand at resonable price hopefully, then perhaps I would consider changing from 14MZ to 18MZ but to buy a new 18MZ today is little to much cost for me so I will have to wait. And my 14MZ cover all my needs today although I wished the LCD screen was brighter so it would be better to see in sunlight.  /Bo
Hi Bem: On bullet point 3 you noted "The throttle stick travel is limited from factory (at least it was on mine) and I removed the travel stop to get full travel (and recalibrated).". Did you send it in to Futaba Service Center to have the Throttle Stick travel removed to get full travel or did you do it yourself?

Tenergy Li-Ion 18650 11.1V 6600mAh PCB Protected Rechargeable Battery Pack
Has anyone used any of these battery packs in their planes before? I purchased a 4400mAh pack about two years ago and it was dead on arrival. The disadvantage for me is I designed my battery compartment around the measurements of this battery and as a result don't have that many choices? I will be using this to provide juice for an on-board Fema starter as well as a Sony Video camera and a Lawmate transmitter. Anyone who knows of other battery alternatives are free to chime in. My battery compartment dimensions are 69mm height x 54mm width x 54mm thickness.
