RE: Early 90s Aussie Pylon Nostalgia
thanks for the stories and pics! You guys in Australia still flying small planes with .21's and pipes? Our old QM15 event here was always my favorite, but they could have used a bit more power flying off grass runways, etc. I doubt if we ever have a small engine racing class again here in the States, unless it's small planes with electric power. Just isn't the same..

RE: Perfect Brand Fuel Tank Numbers and Dimensions
that wouldn't go over very well in my house.. :) I broke down and bought my own toaster oven for the workshop even, for heating engine cases to remove bearings, etc. That way I don't stink up the "food oven".. :) it is pretty convenient, though, and I got it for all of ten bucks at a garage sale!

You want 1/4-32, not 1/4-36 Clarence Lee used to do this, he might still. Check ads in the backs of the model mags for how to get in touch with him.

RE: Wire Source?
I've seen stranded servo wire places like www.radicalrc.com and www.hobbyking.com Hobby king isn't bad if you need some other stuff and are careful about shipping weight - it's coming from Hong Kong and shipping can add up in a hurry. I've had good luck with batteries & stuff I've purchased from radical RC, too.

8FG configurations
Will the 8FG be available as TX only, rather than packaged with the 8 channel RX? How about with the 617 RX? Just wondering, I don't personally have any need for 8 channels and the receiver is overkill for what I would like to use the radio for

RE: Flight log
if the 921 is like the other JR receivers, you can plug the battery into any unused port. I've done that with them for ages, also with the Spektrum AR7000, AR6200, AR6100, etc.

RE: X9303 2.4 is it dead...
that one I can't answer.. never tried or heard of doing that. I have 8103 and 9303 tx's, have replaced the lithium batteries in the 8103's to keep them going for a few more years, but don't have to worry about that with the 9303's.

RE: X9303 2.4 is it dead...
the 9303 does NOT use a backup battery, it uses non-volatile memory. The older 8103 uses a lithium backup battery.

RE: Why people use a Thunder Tiger 40 0r 46 for pylon racing
a good one can run at 17K with an APC 9/6 prop, but the rear bearings don't last long (factory bearings) at that pace. Best to put in a rear bearing with a phenolic retainer before you run one long. Front bearings seem to be fine.

RE: KCRC Fall 424 Race – October 10th & 11th
Gary - Scott Hartman drove up from Texas to race with us a couple of times this year. You'd be more than welcome to come and race, we're having a blast up here with this 424 stuff! Q40 sport (Q40 planes with TTpro 40's) are starting to make appearances, we had three of them in the cars at this race, but it was too cold to do much fun flying / demo racing after a full day of 424. Between KC, Hillsdale, and Wichita we've had 6 weekends of races, a couple of them both Saturday and Sunday. C'mon up and play!

RE: KCRC Fall 424 Race – October 10th & 11th
AJ - thanks to you and all of the KCRC crew that make that race possible! As usual, it was a class act, lots of good racing, good friends, and the steak feed after the races on Saturday was superb! It took me a while to type this, my fingers are still cold.. Thanks to the guys that came from so far out of town to fly with us, and for the awesome digital lap counter / cut display! Made a caller's job easier, knowing what was going on. Looking forward to next season!

RE: Spectrum Lock Loss problem
ORIGINAL: Druss Spektrum does sell a capacitor which plugs into a free slot to prevent brown outs as well.
The cap only helps if the voltage drops are very short in nature - like noise spikes from an ESC in an electric car, etc - where the caps were first used. If you're putting a large load on a high current digital servo, say on a large control surface for an extended time, the cap won't do the trick.
