RE: Glue for Balsa to Foam??
ORIGINAL: PlanePlanter No it's not. You still need to coat all exposed wood with some thinned epoxy or CA (Be careful with the CA @ the foam)
Hey, there you go, Scolpit. An adament answer with conviction and an essence of experience. I do know that there is a foam safe compliant CA. A little more expensive, but worth it in some cases.

RE: Glue for Balsa to Foam??
ORIGINAL: scolpit I used Poly glue on my yak. Its really easy to use. It was hard to find this glue here in Portugal. But i still have one question about this glue. Is it glow fuel proof?
I'm only guessing but from reading articles in this site, I would say probably so. I would assume that Titebond wouldn't make anything that wasn't. However, Mark should be able to help you out on this. By the way, there is a very good post by Tony Hallo of Springdale, Penn. on cutting foam wings like I use to, and he also refers to his usage of poly glue. Oh, it's headlined Foam Wings! lol

RE: Glue for Balsa to Foam??
Yo Mark. At that time I had little or no experience with poly glues. I'm not even sure I know what they are exactly. I did have some experience with Dave Brown's Sorguhm and it worked but I didn't think as sure and easily as epoxy. You're probably right about youre poly glues. In any case, what ever works best for you and WORKS, that is the main goal, right? Like I said, to be sure anything works, it at least requires doing it properly, which includes preparation. It's similar to covering a plane, . . what ever you leave underneath, you're gonna have on the top. If you prepare it properly, you'll have a beautiful finish. Thanks for the comeback, Mark. Joe

RE: Glue for Balsa to Foam??
Well, I guess I'm gonna have to face it. I am getting OLD! I'm sorry fellas (and gals). Seems I have repeated myself to some extent. Didn't even remember responding to this blob before. However, as long as i'm here again, another item that may be useful to someone,. . . to make sheeting, we sanded straight edges, taped the 3" & 4" strips with masking tape on one side, turned them over and used thin CA down the seam. The tape keeps the CA from going all over the place and when you remove the tape, you have a seam that is sandable and of course there are three rules to sanding, my son always told me, and they are: 1. don' t press, 2. don't press and 3. DON'T PRESS!

RE: Glue for Balsa to Foam??
A few years ago, my son and I were cutting foam wings for customers (as AEROSMITH MODEL AVIATION). We used 30 min. epoxy carded on the sheeting, back into the mold and weighted with flat steel bars. I don't remember how much weight but sufficient, and on most wings, we only used 1 oz of epoxy per wing panel. Needless to say, we did many sets and never had a complaint of quality nor function. Nor did we ever have any sliding or bubbling. Personally I feel this is an easy, simple method and if something ain't broke, don't fix it. Of course there are other methods and all of them probably would work if done properly with diligence and common sense.

RE: Glue for Balsa to Foam??
I have never used gorilla glue, don't know as I've even seen any. The "sourdough glue" was good in it's time. However, I have cut and sheeted 25 to 30 wings in the last twelve or so years and always used 30 minute Z Poxy, one ounce per wing on good sized ones. I spread and carded the sheets only, for both sides, put it back in the cradle, and weighted them down with steel plates. If I run out of plates, doing several wings at one time, I used some ply and cement blocks. I've never had any slide, bubble or peel and never had any complaints from the recipients so, that is what I recommend. Oh, and I never dreamed of using anything as heavy as 200 lbs. or more. Seems to me that'll squish things up pretty good. lol [:o]

RE: someone using rcuniverse to spam?
I have had at least two dozen of this type BS. I have even played along with a couple and had them running around like happy bears, licking their chops. Even have had one man call me three times now from the UK. Of course they want a bank account #, etc. I gave him my phone # and told him I don't give other info out to anybody. Send me the stuff and I'll take care of it for you. I expect him to call me one more time, probably tomorrow as he expects me to open a new bank account. At this time I will tell him, as I've replied to many, "Go join your dead father", or cousin or uncle, whatever. Osel is on the money!!!! It is a SHAM and don't get involved unless you just want to pull some chains to make the rattle, but you better know what you're doing.

RE: Selling
Michael, I get all the way through, pick a catagory and it puts me into my credit card request, congratulates me for doing something and then I try to get to "my selling page" and the only way I can see to do that is enter it a search bar and it takes me to a page that tells me I have "0" ads placed. etc., etc., etc. Repeatedly. I'd like to post my Robbe Schluter Magic 60 for sale for $400 or would accept a Hangar 9 100" ARF Cub kit for a starter. Thanks for your help. Joe Smith

Selling
I must be dumber than mud puddle, but I've tried to enter an item in the auction section, twice. I listed it for the Scale category (because I didn't see any other place to put it) and it isn't posted. I thought I did everything that was asked, clicked everything that would click! Can someone help me out here please? RCU has managed to get my CC# though, and even verified it. And...RCU won't accept email?

Diamond Dust replacement
Road Runner: I use to have the site in my Favs. but it is gone. Northeast Sailplanes or alike> The designer is Robert Cavazos. <Robert@rcglider.com> U might try <WWW.rcglider.com>, I think is his site. It is a small glass fuse, composite 27" wing, finished, you have to install one servo on wing. Weight 130z. It cost about 100 or less. Been awhile since I purchased it. I got it from Northeast Glider Hobbies or something like that, a couple years ago. Upper New York State. Hell, maybe in Vermont. Don't remember. Not set up for pictures. Apologize for that, also.

You want speed?.......How about a "Switch Blade"? I saw one go about 170mph at Wesport, NY a couple years ago. I bought one am presently putting it together but only have a regular 400 motor to put in it. Should run around 125 plus. Currently building Balsa USA Enforcer with a new YS120 installed. How fast will this thing go?

Did you notice, most of these guys sound like they might be a little,...well, you know....probably all them CA fumes. You might want to think it over and find another field to fly in. lol One thing is important, however, ie, I'm 74, and probably some of the others are in there 50's or better...."we know what it's like to be young and what's it's like to be old". Oh hell, it won't make any difference.....have fun and good luck with that project!

HELP....Great running engine not so great no with pitts muffler..???
Originally posted by OnTheEdge Hi Joe, I checked the clunk and fuel line in the tank and it still wants to die. I think this is just one of those engines that won't work on a pitts style muffler. Thanks.........Mark
  Well.....I haven't had the pleasure of dealing with those troublesome "pitts" mufflers, but what the man said about letting out some of the pressure, (drilling a llittle more hole) sounds like a plausable option, but I don't know why that should make a difference which side is up. Hell, I don't know which side is up most of the time, but I keep right on running! :D I mean " that's the pits"! Good luck, anyway.

upsidedown flameout
Originally posted by JasonF If your engine is running fine upright and only having a problem when inverted, adding pumps, regulators, blocked exhausts etc is not going to solve your problem! Clearly this is just a matter of the engine not getting fuel and most likely there is a problem with your clunk line not moving properly or having a hole in it. Good luck.
Hey Jason, I was going to say that! Right on, Bro. I've had problems like that a few time in the past forty years and 100% of the time, it was either the clunk positioning itself where it wanted to or there was a hole in the line inside the tank. Again, ;) right on! :( I was gonna say that, though.

Geez, Yarzz, What wrought have you wrung? Lol. Yeah, guys. We all have had different experiences, have different methods , know different things. Yes, those three things are mandatory to starting a Zenoah 62, yes, they start very easily when they are set up right, by hand (with a glove on it, of course), with a SPRING STARTER and obviously, a starter with enough power to turn it. Most of the time, primed, they will start with one flip. In any case, the first part of this para. holds true. We all have different...etc.,etc., but the final determination is the same......to get the damn thing started!!! Stay cool, guys. PS. I bought mine 2nd hand, four years ago,...have it in my Lanier Staudacher and I love those gas engines, including my G45 and two G38's. Hang in there, Yarzz. It's worth it.

Mine did that recently. Did everything but change the plug as I had a good one in it.....nothing! I cleaned the screen, as I have done a few times before,..put in a new carb kit,....tried new gas, switched the mag, switched the coil, eliminated the shutoff set up, checked, cleaned and reset the plug...I mean I tried everything. Finally I put in a new plug...still nothing. Tried another new plug and varoom!!!. Runs like a clock. Don't know what else to tell you. If the carb screen is clean. try changing the plug after you are sure it is getting gas. Good luck.
