RE: SCRATCH BUILT P-38M NIGHT LIGHTNING
When I was a kid I heard my Dad and uncles talking about some gal that they knew and had refered as " She was built like a P-38" ..... being only 7 or 8 I didn't catch their full meaning until I met a P-38 of my own.... Ahh fond memories of my mispent youth!!

RE: SCRATCH BUILT P-38M NIGHT LIGHTNING
I must say, that this is a true scratch built plane, thanks for showing it to us,..... I also enjoy building and this just keeps the blood flowing.... I do have a few questions.... I read that you scaled up the original drawings and then cut out the former and ribs.... were these laser cut or did you cut then by hand?? and how many copies of the drawings did you make to cut to make formers? please continue to show us your skills thanks

RE: Do any of you wrench inside
I am in the San fernando valley just noprth of los angeles.... it can get up to 112 degrees in the summer and unbearable in the garage and some times too cold in the winter....I am in the process of clearing my work table 7"x 8" I have acess to 3 sides..., it is now june, and my plan was to put up insulation on the gargae rafters and on the garage door and try to maintain a more pleasant work area also I made up a new rule ..." If I haven't used it or touched it or even seen it for at least 4 years...GOOD BYE" ..... there are things that just start reproducing in a closed room, where does it come from????

RE: How to handle the guys with flawed plans?
one should adhere to Darwin's therory " Only the fit survive" all others perish at some point.. or in our hobby " crash and burn"

RE: What have I bought?
well a few of you guys came close , but no cigar, what we have here is a NOVATRUNION it's main purpose is to impose an thought that it will provide better performance , if you study the word from it's root origin LATIN it translates thusly :: NOVA = no go, trunnion ( french) = tree trunk) now we all understand that trees don't go anywhere, as to the cooling fins on this device they are to be used as finger grips when installing said device, they also allow the seller to raise the price a bit because of the COOL FACTOR. I hope that this provides a reasonable answer . if not too bad

how about a decent tool chest to keep everything sorted , I have a 5 drawer drawing/art file that was used to store blueprints, this sits under my table, and inside several drawers I have put kitchen silverware seperators that I picked up at the local 99 cent store. everthing now has its own home .... it can also store balsa up to 46 inches long..... the file cabinet measures approx 46wide x 35 deep

Hi Amishwarlord, I have a question regarding the wing spars on the 310 you mentioned on jan 29 2012 Balsa with carbon fibre laminations , what size balsa? and I assume that the laminations would be verticle when installed into the wing, is this correct?

RE: Disappointed in RC Advancement Over Last 20 Years
Not happy the way technology has evolved? there is an asy fix for that,, 1. dust off the drawing table, sharpen your pencil, clear the cobbwebs out of your head and develope it your self. If you percieve a need for somrthing someone else mayalso need it and thusly you have contributed to the hobby as well as to the industry... and you can now let someone else cry about nothing new No change = No change , do something chang something

there is one thing in every kit or scratch built airplane that is not in an ARF and that is PATIENCE " the will or abilityto wait or endure without complaint, steadfastness,..... Instant gratification is now a marketing tool...........

RE: RE:
GUYS, thanks for your coments.... my current plan is to use a servo with an upside down "Y" that would open and close bothdoors,.... However... that at this time nothing is cast in stone and I will probebly go thru several configurations before final, .....currenly I see that i will need to install a spacer on the forward hinge set about 3/16 or 1/4 inch...... between the hinge and the doors..... I only saw this after reviewing the photos

RE: RE:
Hey Guys, I'am back with a solution to my L/G door issues....I hope that the photos show sufficent detail.....the white stringer on the doors is 1/8 pine and is used as a stiffener to hold the curve in the doors..... I used Robart P/N 350 door hinges and had to play with them a bit to figure which was the better configuration.... Robart does not have any instructions or method in the use of thise item........any way the bolts that I used are 4-40x3/8...... only two at this time just to hold things in place
