Just using an older Saito 72...definitely not much verticle, but good enough for what the plane is. Must be something else with the 160t in it!! flynte

RE: Use Thermometer to tune your glow engine.
Just trying to stay on topic with the OP here. For planes, head temp is irrelevant...talk to some people at the field and they'll help and show how to tune. If no tach is available, you'll hear what there doing helping you out especially on 2 strokes. Four strokes are a slightly different breed and you'll need a tach available for initial tune. flynte

RE: Use Thermometer to tune your glow engine.
In r/c glow powered trucks or cars you'll use head temp to make sure you don't over heat because you can't necessarily check rpm, but in planes, RPM check is the standard. With the vehicles I usually try to squeeze what I can out of them, in my planes I look for reliability and longevity out of the engines. flynte

RE: Got my first tree
Didn't realize how much water was around there till we started grabbing vids. Now I know where all those pesky skidders are coming from! Weathers heading for the worst and might hang in for a couple days. So in limbo tonight, so made a slide show of the repairs tonight while rigging up for a carb clean on one plane, and some maintenance on others till the weather turns flynte http

RE: Got my first tree
N1EDM...here's a vid that was shot on the fight before the tree hit. I took the cam off on the next flight as I wanted to try some stuff and let another member take it for a rip while it was in the air. Mosquito's were crazy that night, so the was some episodes of crazy swatting going on during the flight. flynte http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYek0-L4iiQ
