RE: How much longer will 72mhz be around?
I don't get the AMA magazine, so I don't what Gerg Hahn had to say, please post a summary. FCC has never been happy that the 72 mhz band is "wasted" by the modelers . If AMA stop supporting and fighting to keep 72 mhz band for modelers we will lose this band in a heart beat. I have no problem if the big boys like 2.4 , but if we lose 72 mhz the financial loss for people like me would be great.

RE: How much longer will 72mhz be around?
My problem is not that 2.4 is good or bad, this hobby is expensive and I can not effort to buy new radio and recievers each time a new FAD comes along. back in 80's and 90's we went through this , now it is all over again, do you remember the gold sticker on your radios ?. I have invested a good chunk of money on 72 pcm equipment now what am I suppose to do I tell you makes me really worried that now everbody salivating over 2.4. The radio manufacturers love this because they can fill the market with their new thousand dollars radio and recievers, but how about the little guy who stand to lose a lot if 72 goes away.

RE: Royal Corsair 60 Build
It was the best of the best. The highest quality kit existed form Japan. You could build a sunday flyer or a master scale to compete in the Masters competion, the kit included all you needed to build your dream plane. scale cockpit and aluminum cowl, high quality wood and scale documentations. The factory was distroyed by fire back in 80's, then a company in US offered a lesser kit on some models, but I am not sure they are still in business. These kits are collector's item and nobody wants to sell or build them. About 10 yeas ago I bet $250 on Royal Fw190 still lost the auction. I have a Royal Zero and corsair still in box. As far as the market value, I would say start with $300 and up.

RE: What fuel do you guys use in your Saito twins?
Thanks orbit, based on you explanation I guess without the vane pump the crankcase will fill up with oil and parts won't get lubricated. What is correct location the vane pump nipple if you look the engine from the the back , pistons horizontal, carb on the top , I took the back plate off now I don't where the nipple should be, right now is at 10 o'clock. thanks again

RE: What fuel do you guys use in your Saito twins?
I bought a lightly used Saito FA 90T few years back, this is my first twin, I see there are two nipples, one under prop hub and one in the back at approximatly 10 o'clock postion (Is this the correct position ?). The nipple in the back is for a Vane type pump. Here I need your help, what is connected to these nipples, should they be left open ? . I manual does not mention these nipples at all. Thanks

RE: 2.4 myths
72mHZ is a very desiable band, it is in the prime frequency real state location. I can not count the number of times that AMA had to court to protect this band. it looks to me going to 2.4 GHZ we ourselves abandoning 72mHZ band. The radio manufactureres would love it to sell their $1500 radios.

RE: 2.4 myths
It is not the objects, but the material that the objects are constructed from. For a given frequency some material are transparent and some are blocking, for example when a neighbor plays load music you usually hear the base because low frequencies are very penetertating and high frequencies absorbed by walls. As rule thumb higher frequencies are more aborbed by objects than the lower frequencies.

RE: Royal Marutaka Corsair F4U-1D Maiden Flight
Luke, Very gutsy on your part, I don't think I would have the nerves to fly her myself after all the work you put on this model to create such a museum quality plane. I followed her build step by step, it was great to see her fly in the hands of great pilot, now she is an airplane not a model.

RE: Is Pica going out of business?
Stickbuilder, Kit building unfortunatley is becoming a dying art, this hobby is actually three hobbies in one, which includes building, art work, and flying, I am affraid pretty soon only flying will be left, and the manufacturers are going where the money is and that is as you said it ARFs.

RE: Is Pica going out of business?
PICA kits were designed by Dave Platt (Platt In Colonial America [;)]), although the kits had superior design but the parts were produced the old fashion way, I guess they had the option of investing captial in modern machinary or call it quits. It is too bad to see them go
