RE: What size of RC planes do you like?
The ones I like are the giant Edges, Extras, and Yaks, 100cc-size and above. The ones I actually fly are Edges (1), Extras (1), and Yaks (2) in the 50cc class, wing spans 82 to 89 inches. Just bought a H-9 33% Edge and a DA 100 to go in it, so I'm headed toward flying the bigger ones as my skills improve. I am currently selling or giving away my smaller planes, as I don't fly them much any more. I have a pickup with a cap on the back to get my planes to the field. I don't understand the comment about the 30-minute set up on big planes. On go the wings, fuel it, start it, and fly it. I usually fly 3 times each plane when I go to the field, the same as I did for my smaller nitros.

Zenoah Engine Repairs
Now that Mr. Bennett has passed, is there another reliable source for Zenoah engine repairs? I have a couple of G-62s that I would like to have repaired. If this has already been covered, please direct me to the thread. Fred, Maryland

RE: FASST receivers
I have no clue if I am in the right place and already tried to post this to the Futaba forum and now can't find my question, so assume I won'y find your respone, so am starting over. Here goes (again). I have done everything the manual says to do and what a Futaba tech told me to do when I e-mailed the Futaba web site and it still dos not work. I need to mount two HiTec 645s to the elevator of my gasser, and one goes in channel 2 and one in 5, I get that. I have a 7c-2.4, brand new. The tech said to set the ailerons to 20% in Ailvator, then in parameters, set chan 5 to -, with the right servo in channel 2 and the left in 5. As soon as I turn on the receiver and radio, the channel 5 servo goes to max and stays there, regardless of anything I can figure out to do. Channel 2 servo works as expected. I do not want to use a reversing y-harness or a matchbox. I want the new radio to work like it is supposed to. What am I doing wrong? Fred, Maryland

RE: Funtana 90!
Hi, just got a used Funtana 90 and am setting it up. Need to decide whether to go with an OS 1.20 fs or an OS 1.20 2-stroke, since I already have those. Does anyone know where an owner's manual can be found on-line or here in RC Universe? Thanks. Fred in Maryland

RE: Kangke Rearwin Speedster
Sorry, Jet Ranger, not familiar with the G-45. in general terms, I am told by the old-timers at my field that Zenoah engines are some of the best and most reliable, though heavy. My Rearwin has a G-38 and I have a Carden with a G-62. Both have magnito ignition, not the electronic ignition modification, so I am not familiar with that motor or modification. The G-45 should be fine for power in the Kangke Rearwin, if that helps. Fred

RE: "New" Lil Toni by Great Planes
Hi, have not posted here in a while. I crashed my first Little Toni, nothing left but the motor and landing gear. It was all my fault, the plane went where I pointed it, right into the ground. I am now buying another one, since I love everything about this plane. I have an OS 1.20 4-stroke not being used, and I'm going to try that in the Little Toni. I have read in this forum people using a Saito 1.25, but nothing about the OS 1.20 FS. If anybody has any input on this combination, I would appreciate it.

RE: Kangke Rearwin Speedster
Hi, I bought a used Kangke Rearwin Speedster and am about to buy a new Zenoah G-38 for it. From what I can tell from this forum, that should fly this plane, right? Also, there are several muffler choices, and I would appreciate any advice on that. If stock will work, that would be cheapest, of course. This will be my first gas motor. Do I need electronic ignition, or is stock good on the Zenoah motors? Thanks. Fred from Maryland

RE: Parkzone Supermarine Spitfire Mk11B
Hi, any clue why the ailerons are not working on my new Spitfire? They seem to go to one extreme and stay there. I can hear something electronic working and keeping the ailerons in that positiion, but the radio control has no effect, nothing happens, they stay in the full turn position. I thought I had plugged in the lead improperly, but there appears to be onyl one way it can go, i.e., into the aileron slot in the receiver. Is this a bad receiver, possibly? Fred

OK, thank you very much for the clarification. Once again, there are no diagrams or specific instrcutions in the pamphlet that came with the ESC/BEC. I have already made several costly errors in learning how to do electric flight, so I appreciate the info very much. Fred

RE: Beginner Question-Battery Setup
Hi, I just read the ESC instructions again, and though not absolutely clear, I now see that a BEC is included, and there is a lead that is for the battery slot in the receiver. I thank all of you for your kind responses. I went to another site and read about BECs and with your responses and that info, I now think I get it. It is an E-flight 25 Amp Pro Brushless ESC. Thanks agin. Fred

RE: Beginner Question-Battery Setup
Bob, thanks. I am vaguely familiar with what a BEC does, and it does not have one. Therefore, I believe I set up the receiver with its own power source and the motor is run from its own source (lipo pack), correct? Just wanted to make sure I was not msising something. If a BEC can be added to the existing set-up, maybe that is a better solution, so look forward to hearing from you. I was trying to use an E-flight motor/esc/lipo set up that I already had without spending even more money, but maybe I do need to learn about BECs and invest in one. Fred

Beginner Question-Battery Setup
Hi, this is a very basic question, but a very real one for me: I am just starting a Mini-telemaster ARF, and will use an E-flight setup, 450 motor, 20 Amp ESC, and 11.4V 3 cell lipo pack. Here is the question: I install a separate Nicad 4v or 6v for the receiver, correct? The only leads off of the Lipo pack are the 3 wires leading to the ESC and the one that plugs into the balancer/charger. There is no lead for the receiver. Just want to make sure I'm not missing something, and the instructions that came with the telemaster are vague, plus this is my first EP. Thanks. Fred, Maryland

RE: E-flite Taylorcraft
Can you guys direct me to a forum that tells how or whether the shaft on an e-flight 450 can be replaced? I had an "incident" the other day, and it broke the shaft off where the spinner is held on with the allen screw. By the way, our club's best pilot brought one of these Taylorcrafts to the field the same day as my incident. I believe we will be seeing several more of them around, as it was very impressive. Thanks for any advice on the drive shaft. Fred, Maryland

RE: "New" Lil Toni by Great Planes
Here is the reply I received from Great Planes. Very unsatisfactory, but here it is. I finally decided to just buy a new stopper and refit all the tubing with the original tank, which appears to be OK. Fred "The fuel tank that comes in the Little Tony is not available as a replacement part. You will have to find a tank that is close to the same shape and size. It is a 14oz tank. Dubro and Sullivan has one. Dubro is the same shape as the Great Planes tank. Sullivan has different ones. One is a slant tank and the other is a slant flextank. The stock numbers of all three are below along with there specs. SULQ1742 SULQ1442 DUBQ0214 The one from Great Planes is temporarily unavailable at this time."[/center]

RE: "New" Lil Toni by Great Planes
Lill Will: It came with an OS 61, which seems like it is going to be plenty, judging just from the 4 minutes or so I had it in the air. I "discovered" the L.T. on Real Flight 3.5, and the simulator version has this engine, and it has plenty of power for my skill level. More to follow when I get it back up. I fly at Free State Aeromodelers, near the junction of 95 and 198. I drive over there, since that's where my son flies, and that is an activity we can do together. You are right, it was a great day yesterday, but it got windy toward noon, which brings up that skill level thing again. George: you are correct, Sir. Great Planes and Tower should be ashamed. I e-mailed Great Planes, but no response yet. The recommended replacement tank cannot possibly go in there without some sawing. Your pictures are perfect, and I actually have a Nexstar, so will check that out, as well as see if I can find Sullivan tanks. It was spooky losing the engine on the maiden flight, but luckily, I was close to the runway, and high enough to dead stick it in, just like I knew what I was doing! Thanks for the replies. Fred

RE: "New" Lil Toni by Great Planes
Hi, I bought a used Little Toni and had my maiden flight today. It stalled after 4 minutes and I had to dead stick land. Investigation showed a deteriorated rubber stopper in the fuel tank, and a disconnected fuel line inside the tank, which must have happened from vibration, or deterioration of the line itself, leading it to come off the fitting. I want to replace the tank and all of its parts. It is an odd shape, rounded top and bottom, and flat on the sides. It is marked 240cc (or 8 oz). I have yet to find one in my internet searches. Tower says that the Great Planes 8 oz tank can be made to fit, but it looks entirely wrong. Does anyone know where to get another tank like the one that came with the plane? Much thanks. I could tell from my 4-minute flight that this plane is going to be everything I hoped. Fred
