RE: Range of Spektrum's AR6100 Receiver (don't make the mistake I made)
not sure if you can go that long with these antenna wires but you can go double lenghts and gain alot more range.

RE: Range of Spektrum's AR6100 Receiver (don't make the mistake I made)
guys, if you want to add alot more range to your 500 / 6000 /6001 receivers, double the length of the antenna wires. for a test that worked out perfect was we had an old spectrum 6001 park flyer receiver that we removed and re soldered new double length antennas on then did a range test on ground level and gained an extra 700 feet.

RE: Need Engine for PC-9
you should get into the fuel tank bay and grind off some plywood from the tank bearers so the tank goes down lower. i can,t remember which way the engine is mounted in the PC-9 but if its inverted or on its side , you can also try mounting it upright, this will raise the carby venturi level to stop engine flooding.

RE: Running your carb dry?gas engine
keep the carby internals Wet , if you run the carby / engine dry there is no oil in the fuel to keep the carby diaphram soft. also forget the magic fuels just use the good old car petrol / gas with good 2 stroke oil at the correct mix.

the AR-7000 comes with 1 only battery port , the 921 comes with 2 battery ports. you can still run dual battery packs on the 7000 by using battery port and aux 1 or 2 .

RE: Spektrum users BEWARE!
thanks for this info , we should all keep an eye on these wires just the same as the rx antenna wires that do break easier than thought. what i do is fit small pieces of silicon tube over these antennas so this tube goes onto the receiver case . take a close look so you know what i mean.

RE: Question about Spektrum AR7000
yes the AR-7000 is a very good / reliable receiver as long as you make sure you mount the main RX and sattelite RX in different positions and not too close together plus use good RX batteries of 6 volts [ 5 cells ] check you RX battery pack under load before any flight to make sure the loaded voltage is within standards. plus you must make sure the receivers lights are on solid and NOT flashing before flight.

OUCH, i bet you wont let this happen again. i find the best and most simple model restraints are 2 x heavy duty tent pegs with a foam sleeve fitted over, just wack them in with a hammer and position the model. you can use these for either front main wings or tailplane.

RE: Glitching = crash, any reccomendations?
yes don,t muck around with cheap receivers in models like this as there to costly to repair. i must say i ,ve bought some great receivers at around the $20 mark [ corona dual conversion fm ] but only for my 3D foamies. with Helis , especially electric helis you really should use good brand pcm receivers not single conversion either as they hate electrics.

if you want a slippery airframe that is balistic in speeds, have a look at the VOODOO. you can run the NUE Motor at a price or go for the HET Typhoon 2w-20. this model is just about as quick as the hot F3D glow stuff.

RE: Hot battery/esc
you should be able to answer your own question in regards to; how is the 3s making it run hotter than the 2 s. how many volts does the 3s lipo have ? how many volts on the 2 s ? also you may want to consider using a larger amp ESC as 35 amps may be ok for a 2 cell but not as safe when running 3 cell lipos. my 450 size heli runs a 55 amp esc on a 3s lipo and my extra 260 also runs 45 amp esc on 3 s lipos.

RE: Spektrum Receivers, which one???
i have been running the Spectrum 6200 receivers in my F5D models without any problems atall, one of these models has a semi carbon fuselage so what we do is drill tiny holes in the fuse for the antenna wires to protude out slighty . i really cant see if there is any difference in range between the 6200 and the 7000 models cause if the model went that far away from me , i wouldn,t see it.

RE: Receiver pack
a very good battery pack is the Sanyo Eneloops [ 5 cells ] 6 volts no reg needed. if you want to use a lipo pack go for 2500 mah / 2 cell which is 7.4 volts and abit higher when freshly charged . you will need a regulator for this so have a look at Big Bruce Racing at his regulator at around $20. very light and works great.

RE: micro motor & ESC
is the ESC a Brushless Type ? if not it wont work with your brushless motor. if it is OK you need to do the transmitter program with the ESC and Motor with power on. also the lipo is way to big for a micro model , go for something no larger than 350mah / 2 cell. the 3 wires from motor to esc can go any way , if your prop is turning the wrong direction just swap over 2 wires.

ENGINE THRUST ?
Guys, i have a new fibreglass fuselage of the Extra 300L which is designed for gas engines of 50 to 80 cc,s . the plan states no right thrust to be added when mounting the engine but when i measured the fuse it has left thrust built in plus the fin also has abit of left and not dead straight ahead. i thought normally right thrust is built in but not left , any help ? thanks.

the spectrum DS-821 servos are a standard size servo , there to heavy for 450 sized helis but do suit 500 / 600 / 700 sized helis but not on rudder, you need a much faster servo that will work well with the Gyro.
