Looks like its bent down and to the right just a little I guess I should have said the rod journal, the connecting rod and crankshaft mating point. Doesn't it look like that to you?

With that crankshaft rod bent like that I am sure it doesn't run all that well you are losing true top dead center. At least it looks bent to me probably from forcing it over while hydro locked.

RE: How to get to BDC w/ pull start, and How important is After Run procedure?
Take the plug out so you can see the piston and turn the motor with the flywheel and your finger or catch the ridges of the flywheel with a flat screw driver pretty important on the cool down to have it at BDC so you don't loose the pinch at the top.

I wasn't looking for a shrink just maybe someone else might have found out there last fav car was sold to a chop shop had some feelings about it. So much for I am not going to comment hu?

Sad about my old firestorm
I was looking back on the guy that bought my truck to see if he had sold it yet or was selling it I thought I might buy it back off ebay. Well I had everything done to this firestorm all options aluminum upgrades hitec digital servo mamba max esc and there it is stripped down piece by piece tranny separate chassis and arms one auction aluminum factory shocks separate front and rear. the esc and the motor and I just had to message him and ask him what he was doing running an rc chop shop or what.

RE: Metal or not
When I went all aluminum and disassembled the front end one whole side of mine was split where the skid plate screws into it and I didn't even know it. And I never really wrecked it that hard. All aluminum now and no bends or breaks as of yet and its from that brand everyone loves to hate. I am not really impressed with anything about the t maxx but the speed everything else just sucks compared to just about any other like machine. Looking at the 8.0 mgt real hard lots of nice features there but a considerable amount more if your strapped.

I agree and also the bad part is if the low speed is too rich it could cause you to make adjustments to the high speed and blow the motor do long high speed passes to test the high speed mixture.

RE: Mods please read
Yea I know what he means I just don't bother actually writing a thread about posts over the same thing being a problem and we can correct it. Because its very helpful for the search function. Say "not sucking fuel" for example thats a good search term because a maybe typing "inadequate fuel delivery isssues" wouldn't bring up the same results. Just for example so the more posts you have the more a person may be able to relate to the exact problem ultimately not making a new post which some people seem to be hoping for. And if you think this forum is bad go check out the electric off road its unbelievable and has stickies.

RE: hot 3.3 motor?
I have a 350 dollar temp gun and my motor got up to 430 on the heat sink but 360 on the crank case where the actual sleeve and piston are. It happened 4 times and then I tore the motor apart and sealed it up and I'll test it all out tomorrow. Itwas either I could tune it to about 260 then any leaner it would skyrocket temps with small adjustments. So I figured I have an airleak. and I ate up 2 clutch bells with my new steel spur. Is the bearing that comes with the spur supposed to slide over the hex ? Similar to the bushing that comes stock that has the hex cutout? I didn't use any pegs because I lost my other package somewhere. Jsut tightened it down all the way metal to metal but it did have a slight wobble. I am wore out with this thing gonna buy the replacement hardened bell and pegs and new slipper rings and see what happens probably will be on ebay. Then buy an aftershock and put a lrp in it with a buku pipe. I keep both a aftershock (father) and my tmaxx up and let me say the losi is neglected because I always have some drama with this thing. But the losi runs more.

So basically check for obstruction of flow and or pressure loss in fuel delivery system.

RE: T-MAXX not sucking fuel
I would unscrew the high speed needle out of the carb which you will use a wrench not turning the adj screw and chech that there is no blockage in there or in the area that it screws into. Slide the port off the needle (where the fuel line connects)and check the flow holes that go around the needle housing.

That doesn't sound good. You'll figure it out it can only be so many things you know. I am eating spur gears I bought two plastic ones and a steel one Sunday so if I burn the two plastics up again which I don't think I will but if I do I will put a steel one on. But as far as the motor its plenty strong.

RE: Need engine or new truck
ORIGINAL: ridgewalker I have an all aluminum new era T-maxx that i just finished building and i have a brand new 3.3 in it too. This truck is lighter than my bone stock revo 3.3 and it is just as fast.I have only run 8 tanks through it so i haven't really hammered on it but i did take it up to top speed and my wife was driving the revo and they were tied for top speed. When i had this truck as an e-maxx it was very heavy after i added all the alum.,but now as a t-maxx it is pretty light.I will get an exact weight on it and if you want to keep track of it see my thread "Building a t-maxx..." http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7497068/tm.htm
I have been looking at your thread your setup is sharp too I like it. RE: Need engine or new truck
Look I don't care to waste money if thats what you want to call it it wasn't a waste to me and all I am saying is that it is heavier with it being all aluminum compared to it being all plastic. But I agree with the first poster that its my clutch and I am going to gear down just a hair too. Would anyone be willing to give me the links to all the metal tranny parts that I will need including bearings new clutch shoes for inside the transmission and anything esle i will need plus a better clutch setup for it besides the factory setup. Or what do most of you guys that have had your tmaxx for a while and have spent the money on it have you guys done the all steel transmission. Will some mulcher tires do me any justice by lightening the rotating mass? Thanks.

RE: Need engine or new truck
yea your probably right its my clutch I just got disgusted to fast and the heat off my clutch melted my teeth I've got a spur on the way and another clutch in my box. But I was already used to brushless and the maxx with a 3.3 was plenty fast and still good for big areas but now its just heavy and slows it down from what it was and I am dissatisfied and feel like a chump for making it heavy but I really didn't expect the weight to be that much more.

Need engine or new truck
Hey guys I just dropped a bunch of aluminum parts bulkheads arms bumpers shock tower and steel cvds in my tmaxx with a 3.3 Its really slow now and it stripped the spur gear trying to pull its self and the clutch is slipping. I am not to impressed with it so I was thinking bigger motor or sell this one for about the same as what I could het a new 3.3 for because people buy these aluminum trucks on ebay a lot. As long as they are priced around the 400 dollar mark they sell. And just get a hpi 5.9 or a mgt 8.0 and be done with it. What would some of you guys do? Should I sell the arms on ebay and maybe put rpms on it? But it would still be heavy because everything else is aluminum and I don't think without weighing them that it would lighten it up that much with just an arm swap.

I also recommend the butane weller thats what I use and own also I havn't seen anything yet I couldn't solder with it and its really easy to handle also. Not to mention the already stated open heat channel for shrink tube. The tips are very nice and is not partial to either side of the tip like cheap soldering irons sometimes are.
