RE: WW II weekend this weekend Reading, Pa
I stopped by for a few hours on Friday and just hung out on the other side of the fence. I had a nice view of the runway and taxi way. I got to see the B29, B17, B25, P51, Helldiver and what I think was a dauntless fly along with a DC3 I believe and a few PT19s. It started to rain so I left as I was on my way to Jersey from VA

I just went to a similar event in VA beach..it was incredible. Great aircraft, great re-enactors. Go to talk to a bunch of vets, one who flew both the corsair and hellcat and was happy to discuss the merits of both. Got some cool pictures also...

RE: Top Flite P-47D Thunderbolt ARF .60-.91: Building & Mods
Yes, very helpful...now I am not sure how to make that happen! I used the formers and canopy from the kit version but it does not mate up like it appears that would. I will figure something and thanks for the pics. By the way, I recommend the conversion if you like the razorback, definitely pretty cool.

RE: Top Flite P-47D Thunderbolt ARF .60-.91: Building & Mods
Guys, I converted this ARF over to a razorback but have a question as to how to finalize the canopy. Is there a solid piece attached to the fuselage at the rearmost section of the canopy were it slants or is it right behind the cockpit? Right now i have an open space aft of the pilot and know that can't be right. THanks all

Interesting, I had the same problem. Can't say mine was cracked when I got it though. I crashed my first p 47, bought another and as I was gutting it saw the cracks in the plastic.

RE: Top Flite P-47D Thunderbolt ARF .60-.91: Building & Mods
I put in Lado retracts and cut out the circular portion of the wheelwell, routed them under there and then replaced the wheel well bottom. I also opened up the former under the wheel well so I could get the wire through there as depth with the tire width was an issue. That worked fine. If I can get some pics later I will.

Red outline stars and bars decal?
Hey guys, I am looking for the stars and bars in a 60 size (for Top Flite P47) with the red outline (summer 1943?). The same insignia is on the Hangar 9 Hellcat. I can not find them anywhere, the hellcat decals are already applied to the plane so as far as I can tell I cannot buy a decal sheet. I have looked around unsuccessfully, any ideas? Thanks, Jim

RE: Kyosho BF-109
I had the second variant and the latest one they have put out. THe cowl is a bit longer on the latest model but I think the length of the body aft of the cockpit is the same as I was able to use the same pushrods. The spinner required for the new one is also a bit smaller, 2" I believe but it does come with a nice spinner

RE: Top Flite P-47D Thunderbolt ARF .60-.91: Building & Mods
ORIGINAL: P47Tbolt here is a link to how and what I used if you need part numbers for the wood parts let me know. The canopy is from the Top Flite Gold Edition P-47 wood kit.perfect it. I think the ARF is based from the kit version and built as a bubbletop because there is more the razorback spine involves a little more work. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10458390/anchors_10458390/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#10458390
If you had the part numbers that would be great, I definitely want to try the conversion. My plane should be here in a few days and fortunately (or unfortunately) I have most of the fuselage from my old one to practice on first. Do they have balsa sheeting that fits that concave surface or do you bend it yourself? Thanks for your help!

That razorback ROCKS! Do you have photos of how you did that or templates? Also where did you get the canopy. Really nice job. I had this bird, lost it to a radio problem and ordered a new one the same day. Great flying plane but I have always been partial to the razorback...

I used the lado retracts in mine, 85 degrees. They work great, I would think the e-flites would be similar. What a great airplane!

OK you biplane guys. How does one balance a biplane? I have the CG but do you balance it rght side up resting the balancer on the top wing or inverted resting on the lower wing? It is an .46 size ultimate biplane which has "JR Propo" on the wing, I picked it up at a swap meet so don't know anything else about it. Thanks guys!

RE: 50 size Kyosho ME 109
Thank you very much for the input guys. I am going to bail on the 82 and though I wanted a 4 stroke in her I may go OS 55 which i also have hanging around, might be a better fit. Did you guys use the pushrods and clevises that were supplied with the plane? In reviewing the instructions I don't know if I trust what they are describing (a screw on the fore end to hold the pushrod in), especially on an elevator. Thanks, Jim

Has anyone built the 50 size ME 109? Flight tendencies, differences from the prior Kyosho version? Any input is appreciated. I just picked one up and plan on putting a saito 82 i have hanging around in it.
