doing a battery relocation - looking to loose 2.5oz of lead in the tail.

RE: New Great Planes Revolver
yea - at the polo field, real nice and smooth, almost as smooth at pavement, althought the horses have been using it quite a bit. lippicci - I will take the spare... let me know how you want to work out the logistics. I was thinking that i would recess a piano wire on the underside of the old gear, sand fill and paint. Just like the looks of the original gear over the dubro.

RE: New Great Planes Revolver
Lots of flying today.... yay! The bad.... Left side gear starting to get some stress cracks just outside the bolts where it makes a sharp bend. Any one have a spare? Motor is getting nice and loose... Im so tempted to go high HP and get this machine MOVING!!

RE: New Great Planes Revolver
Ahhhh.... These stories make me feel even better about beefing up the gear before flying it. Then again I fly at probably the best manicured field around.

RE: New Great Planes Revolver
Just what the Dr. ordered, flew great with only one click of right aileron needed. Couldnt be happier... I think its much faster now, motor could be loosening up a little. The OS 55ax seems to still be a little rich in the midrange. Going to finish up the rest of the breakin fuel before I start messing with things.

RE: New Great Planes Revolver
yup - all fixed up.. measurement is 61mm both TE and LE. Also checked the lateral bal. - need 3/4oz in right wing. Trims all reset to neutral, and packed up in the car. Weather looks good for wed/thurs. Keep ya posted.

Think I found out why my trims are out of wack. Left wing 65mm, Right wing 68mm. I dont have an incidence meter. Could someone please take these same measurements and let me know. Im not sure which wing to start working on.

RE: New Great Planes Revolver
yea its a 59. Landings smooth as butter. Come in over the tree line, chop the throttle and, dive, dive, dive... till about 6in from the ground, level out and let it settle for a wheel landing.. Flying at bethpage polo field. Its a big field and the rollout is long but its better than getting low and slow. Didnt find it skittish at all.

RE: New Great Planes Revolver
Flew mine for the first time today (3 flights total), 55ax, pitts, xoar 12x5... great, did require a bit of right aileron trim - about 5/6 clicks. still on the rich side, cant wait to get some time on this engine to loosen it up.. liked the high rates, low rates got my heart pumping on first takeoff, with the trim off thought I was going to run out of aileron. Got it for christmas, it was a long time coming. all smiles tonight.

throttle reduction does not produce pitch change
Flew my mini pulse xt for the first time on floats this weekend and noticed something strange. With reduction of power the nose did not drop, just kept flying level till just about a stall at which time i had to feed in some down elevator to get it to land. Upright level flight did require about 5 clicks of up elevator. If I had to take a guess it seemed like it was flying tail heavy (a little twichy - not horrible) . Is not pitching down a symptom of aft cg? Could get a good comfort level to run throught the inverted, and other trimming tests. no- those are my fingerprints on the canopy. :)

RE: supertigre .18 marine
open up the high speed about a half turn. give it another go.. and start making some runs in the water to determine what adjustments to make. rich will kill a plug, lean will kill the engine.

RE: maxford extra 260 49
It happened wednesday, the gear ripped out on landing. This about the 4th out of 5 arf's I had to do a similar repair to. Rock solid now. Just waiting for good weather to get some video. Seems like every day I can get to the field its mostly cloudly and blowing 10 to 15. Oh well, its early spring, what can you expect.

Lead will be required to move it any further back than 90mm. I think 89mm is the recommended. Hope the gear holds up, seems to flex a bit when sitting on the ground. also the gear mount will get some attention, needs some more meat down there for the weight increase. Right now, it 4lb even, going to be just a hair over.

Thinned epoxy applied to everything forward of the wing tube for strength and fuel resistance.

im sure unlimited vert, was watching the you tubes and came accross someone who did the 49" edge with the same motor... that what prompted this project. the 52 runs ran nice in my 70" cub but will put you to sleep while flying it, even with floats on it. hopefully this one will raise the hairs on back of my neck.

RE: maxford extra 260 49
made the firewall, braced it, complete most of the motor mount, firewall and box sheeting are basswood, firewall will be 1/4" ply. Once complete all of it will get a coat of thinned epoxy. Lots of measuring, templates, more measuring to get the thrust angles correct from the original. ar6200 rx battery digital servos
trying to pick a rx pack, i have a 4.8v futaba 1000mah nicad - NR-4RB, but from what I read it is scaring me about low voltage brown outs with my ar6200. I am running 2 futaba digital 3151 for aileron, 2 digital 3152 for ele and rud, and an analog hs225 for throttle. Looking for advice. Plane is a Great Planes 59" revolver.
