RE: Thinking of going brushless on Savage
I would sell it and buy a new truck. You will be better off having a fresh platform to handle the Monster [;)]. I think you would save money in parts.

RE: Turnigy vs Venom Chargers/Batteries
You can order charge leads from them with traxxas connectors on them. As far as getting the battery with that connector, good luck. I think it would be beneficial if you learned how to solder or got a buddy to do it for you. It's good to know how to do. Most hobby shops will solder them for you. For batteries, get a high C rating (30 minimum in my opinion), and a high mah. Then just measure your battery compartment and look at the measurements on the battery's stats. I would say that most of the 5000's on there will fit in a 4x4's chassis. The 4x4 has a pretty nice battery compartment.
ORIGINAL: Muskokarc 4goodbuys2, for your drive system would not a slash 4x4 system work for you?  That or go dual motor :)  The slash 4x4 has a straight shaft.  Those are crazy big tires. :) As for the steel upgrade for the rustler tran. It is not that expensive to do there are only two gears that need to be changed, the diff and the idler gear they are only a few bucks each.  Like said before leave the spur plastic as a fail safe.
I agree, the tranny gears are cheap to make metal. I would keep the spur as a plastic gear, but change it out to 32 pitch along with the pinion. It will still fail if hit hard enough, but it wont fail over a stupid bad landing.

RE: HK 500 CMT Build Thread - Beginner to Heli's
I don't see why everyone bashes these things. On every forum I go on, everyone is saying that align is so much better. That's not true. I have an align 250 and 450 v2 along with a exi 450 (same as the v2) and a 500cmt. To me, the quality of the align aluminum is almost worse than that of the exi or cmt. And as far as everyone's problems, most of them are user error. I took every part of mine apart and locked every screw, made sure everything was solid. The only align parts i put on mine was a tail shaft (don't trust the stock one. 3 of my friends have bent their's on the first spool up) and a flybar (just because it's longer and i wanted a faster heli). Other than that, I have the hk aluminum tailboom mount and bottom plate on it, tru blood dampeners, kbdd paddles and tail blades, and a fusuno canopy. Mine flies great, no issues here. I have another one for spare parts too [;)].

Will a 450 pro canopy fit the se v2?
Is anyone using a 450 pro canopy on their regular 450? I am curious because The paint scheme I want in the fusuno only comes in a pro canopy but I dont have a pro. It wouldn't be a big deal, but I'm getting a 500 soon and I want the canopies to match. Any input would help, thanks.

T rex 450 flybar length?
What is the difference between a longer flybar? Here is what I think of it so far. To me it seems like a longer flybar with no weights is going to be the fastest, yet more stable. I'm just kinda confused.

RE: OFFICAL PEDE THREAD
ORIGINAL: Jeremy Z Hey guys, a tip for the Titan 12T motors: Break them in. If you run a new brushed motor full throttle right away, it may not last long. I just ran the first pack at no more than 50% throttle on the street, and with smooth, easy application of the throttle. The brushes are square from the factory, and if you run it full honk with square brushes, you'll probably glaze the commutator and the motor won't last. The point of breaking in a brushed motor is to make the brushes concave, so they fit the round commutator. Then, there is the full area of contact to conduct the current, and things don't run as hot. (rather than just having the tangent of the square brush touching it) The right way to do it is with a [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6OqTE5oGTg]water break-in.[/link] If you have a new brushed motor and don't do some kind of break-in, it probably isn't going to last as long as otherwise. Some of the better motors may already have some break-in done at the factory; I'm not sure.
It is general knowledge to break in a brushed motor. A lot of people don't realize that. I used to use the rubbing alcohol method because it cleaned the motor better than water and dried faster when I took it out. But I got sick of breaking in motors and spending a fortune on brushed stuff. Plus brushless motors dont need break in ha.

Did you make sure that you leveled your servos with the throttle stick at half throttle? If that is all good (with no curves set yet) then you can start messing with your curves and dial it in.

Make sure that your belt is twisted in the right direction. It should be a half a turn to the right if you are looking directly into the boom from the front of the heli. Also is your one way installed going the right direction?

RE: help with gear mesh
I usually go by feel and tighten the screws equally. The paper trick works good though. Also when you set your mesh, find the spot on the gear that binds the most when it rotates. Sometimes the gears aren't perfect so there are spots where it binds up more than others.

RE: help with 450 battery choices
The Zippy's and Turnigy's are about the same. I go with whatever seems to fit my needs when buying them. I take price, weight, and dimensions into consideration. I use the Zippy 30C packs for my 450 and they are AWESOME! I want to get some 35C packs here soon. 20-25C is fine though if you aren't needing lots of performance. I have a Thunderpower 2250 30C pack that is in no way better than my Zippy packs if anyone is wondering. I see no point in going with name brand packs.

RE: HK 450 Pro belt edition
I don't have a Pro. However I do have a T Rex 450se v2 and a EXI 450 carbon edition kit (the exact same as the v2 only a clone). I love how they both fly. However I don't see the advantage to buying a t rex. They both fly the same and to be honest, since i bought my exi, my t rex has been getting almost no flight time. I am more comfortable flying the exi because it cost me half as much and I don't care about crashing it. Since I bought my exi my learning curve has gone through the roof. In a week I went from small figure 8's, to tic toks and fast sport flying. I am young however, this may contribute to the learning also. But I was more nervous flying the more expensive bird. Now when I go to the t rex I am more comfortable with flying it. As far as quality goes... Align is better quality. The t rex is smoother. The parts on my kits are really about the same in softness of the aluminum though. I striped one align part and one exi part. I do like the hexes on the t rex better than the exi. I don't have to many align parts on my exi. Just a cf tailboom because I had it around. Other than that it is bone stock exi and it flies great! If I was in your position to buy one or the other. I would go with the clone. It is cheaper and flies the same. However if you have money to spend get the t rex. I'm not trying to take away from Noob's thread. Just putting in my .02 cents till he shows up [;)].
ORIGINAL: birdman1968 That is a great tip . Thank You !!! The only problem I really had with the stock body , is the body clips pulling through the body in the rear . Due to the location of the body mount post holes, you can not put a washer on top of the body to prevent the clips from pulling through . Like on the Slash or Rustler . Bad design !!!
