ORIGINAL: smcharg
ORIGINAL: g_mkoch Is nice to know they do custom schemes, Is there a surcharge for it?
I was quoted a reasonable price for it. My scheme is certainly not as complex as the Episode's. BJ answers emails immediately (within 1 day due to time difference). He's willing to do what you ask, at least he treated me that way. RE: Questions from first time pattern electric
ORIGINAL: JIMMYTHEEAGLE I'm just about finished with my Vanquish 2M build which has to be one of the easiest ARF's that I've ever assembled. I used the Himax 6330 and phoenix ice 80. So here are my questions: I need a separate battery and regulator for my receiver and servos correct using the phoenix ice 80? I know I wire my batteries in series. I see armsafe connectors on websites. Are these normally used? Which connectors between batteries, escapements and motors are easiest or more safe? I've had many recommendations for battery chargers. Will the Hitec X4 charger work well for the 5S battery packs? The only reason I like that charger is that it has a built in AC supply and since I fly right out my back yard it would be just easier to charge from a wall circuit. I also had recommendations for the Cellpro 10xp and buy a separate power supply. Thanks for your help. Jim
Yes, you need a separate battery pack to power the servos and receiver. Yes you should wire two 5S packs in series to create a 10S pack with 37V nominal voltage. If you are refering to THIS or THIS, the it is highly recomended since it allows you to quickly disarm the system. It is used mostly for safety reasons. Connectors you'll get different opinions. Som people like to use Deans other 4mm bullets, they both work. I personally use Anderson power poles since there is no soldering involved. If you go the Deans route the I sugest using real Deans and not the cheap chinese version. Between the ESC and motor you should use 4mm connectors or solder the wires directly. The hitec charge will work but it may be a little bit slow. You may want to eventually get a more powerfull charger like the Cell Pro.

RE: Hacker A60-7S V2 28 Pole Motor
ORIGINAL: BHolsten That's good information. I was getting ready to order one today? I was planning on running a 20.5x15.5 or the RASA 20.2x16 on my Black Magic VF3 for F3A. I have put the order off several times, cause I can't get any real motor comparisons to make up my mind. All the data I have found "suggests" the Hacker will turn (A60-7S-V2) up to a 22x12 @ 74 Amps on 10S setup? I have a Pletty EVO 30-10 in my other VF3, if the Hacker is as strong as that motor, I have no doubts about using it. My motivation in using the motor is to find a good inexpensive alternative setup for guys wanting to move to a 2 meter bird without all the costs of outfitting, etc. The A60-7M-F3A is a very close relative of the A60-7S-V2 and the data for that motor is on Hackers webpage,..translate it to English unless you read German. Let me know what you find out,..I think you will be fine running the 21x14. I would guess you will be around 6000 RPM's, only one way to find out. [:D] PM AJesky or Flyboy91 as he is running one in his proto type Asiris 2m, reports are the motor is very strong. bholsten
I couldn't find any info on the A60-7M-F3A, do you have a link? RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread
Few things. 1st we should get back on topic. This is a build thread and not a thread on EF or any other vendor's business practices. 2nd incidence, cg are most of the time a matter of preference. I usually like to start with .5 on the wing, 0 on the tail and cg at the wing tube and use Bryan Herberts triangulation trimming fro there. 3rd yes there may be variations between on batch from another. I can say this with authority because I put together two vanquishes my father's and mine. My father's was from the first batch and mine was from the third or fourth batch. I have the batteries further foward and I'm still running the cg a little more aft than my father. Is this a problem to me, no, all I have to do is mark where the batteries are on each plane. 4th Yes, I was ASSIMILATED also. All resistance was futile. 5th. HaPPY Landings Guillermo

RE: Ordered new batteries . . . we'll see . . .
ORIGINAL: cmoulder
ORIGINAL: 2Sunny These caught my eye as they are 5800 mAh and weigh only 1283g according to the add. That fits perfectly in my new Pegasus since it has an empty weight of 3663g. It would be great to fly for 10 minutes of practice, but I guess we'll just have to see when I get them whether or not they are junk. I bought 2 sets and it was $280 with shipping. Still only $140 per 10s set . . . not bad. I was staring at them for a while and the website gave me a special add that said order it now and you can have it for $112 so the impulse hit me. Those darn Chinese; they really are sneaky [:D] [link=http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__21387__ZIPPY_Compact_5800mAh_10S_25C_Lipo_Pack.html]Zippy Compact 25C 5800mAh 10s[/link]
Joe, these look like good batteries at a good price. But the capacity is a lot more than is needed for AMA Intermediate or Advanced. I flew the Advanced sequence last weekend in some pretty high winds and upon recharging found 2600-2800 mAh consumed. I flew at Stormville the next day in some comparatively light (but not calm) winds and saw 2300-2500 mAh consumed. (strictly flying the pattern with no horsing around afterward.) My main packs now are the Sky 4400 35C's, but I still have some Zippys and Rhinos that are uncannily and inexplicably strong after many flights.
With 5800mah of batteries you could probably do 2 sequences on one flight :D

RE: Proposed 2013/2014 Sequences
ORIGINAL: mjfrederick Ok, I'm at the field, just flew through the proposed advanced pattern. My first thought was: this is pretty boring. My next thought was: the 2 loops can't be flown as described. The description of the maneuver makes the rolls not integrated into the loop. The only way I can keep the rolls at the speed I want them is to integrate them into the loop. I did that, and it looked ok for my first try, but it didn't meet the description. So then I flew it doing the rolls as fast as I could to try and meet the description. It still can't be done as described because you get a flat spot at the top, and the loops get out of round. Bottom line, that maneuver needs to go.
What if they change the two stall turns for a figure M but instead of doing 3/4 up like in masters do it 1/4 up, 1/4 down and half inside loop in between. Is the same elements as the two stall turns but different directions (and it looks better :D). Change the two loops with rolls for an upwind avalance. Last do a triangle loop (or square loop form corner) with rolling elements where the avalanche was. Happy Landings
