RE: Central NEW YORK boaters
Stony Pond was almost glass smooth today - muchbetter conditions than yesterday with the rain, drizzle and wind. Got the 12 boat going good today - thanks to Mark and his new retrieve boat:

Went to the pond today - boy was it windy. Tried the smaller needle valve on the JAE and it seemed to help, actually went around 4 or 5 laps until Cindy brought it in alive. (Thanks Bill for the advise - had thought that might be the problem, sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees!) T&C

Here's pic of Tommy (aka Captain Crazy) studying his JAE Twin. Working on the throttle linkage and water line placement. Hope to have it in the water by August. Nothing like the sound of a twin! C&T

RE: Central NEW YORK boaters
Neil, Thanks for your offer. Unfortunatley, I can't make it out there on Thursday - due to work. Plan on being at the pond Saturday or Sunday, depdendent on which day has better weather conditions. Switching motors at the pond might be difficult due to engine mounting and pipe location. If you have a Rossi 21, that would work because it has the same mounting as the GO Motor and was what I had originally in the JAE. In reverse, putting the GO motor in your boat would be worth a try, if it is set up for a Rossi 21. Bill, The remote needle that I'm using is a 40 OS remote needle from Tower Hobbies. We do have a smaller needle valve, but had switched to the 40 OS late last year as the smaller one didn't seem to perform. But, it may have been plugged. Think I'll clean out again the smaller needle valve and put it on the JAE. Could the size of the carb be causing the problem (modified Glenn Q. carb that has the idle adjustment removed and needs a remote needle to operate)? There should be plenty of air getting to the carb, as there is no cowl. The more I think about it, the size of the needle valve may be the culprit. Think I'll start with that and go from there. Lots of possibiliteis here, one thing I've learned, though, is to try one thing at a time. Looks like it'll be a long day at the pond this weekend. On another note, yes, it was good to see the 20 mono let loose finally. That different prop (thanks Neal) seemed to do the trick. Thanks, Tom

RE: Central NEW YORK boaters
Why is my 21JAE rigger powerd by a 21 GO motor constantyl running rich. Glen Quarles carb, isolated needle. (Motor was re-built last fall with new bearings and rod.) Settings being adjusted with a BM metter. No matter what the setting, the fuel consumption is excessive and there is no change in the speed. Also the boat runs approx 2-3 laps and then dies. Any ideas?

To All, Our new club (approx. 35 members) held our first race this weekend. The race was well attended by racers from NY, PA and Canada. Many of our members are new to competitive racing and how a race is run, but the event was fun for all with very few mishaps / missed calls, etc. If you haven't read the background on our pond, check out the posts under clubs and ponds "Canandaigua NY Test Pond". Trophies were provided on "marble-like" plaques with photos of the winner and their winning boat on the trophy. We hope you will consider coming to one of our upcoming races, check out our web site at www.vpmcobras.com/stonypond.htm. Tom

Cograts go to Joe P for 3rd in Open Mono at Hobart and 4th in Thunderboat! Hope to get out to the pond to do some testing next weekend before we go to the Fall Nats the first week in October. Don't forget the Hydro Bowl on Seneca Lake in Geneva is 9/21-9/23. We went last year and if it's anything like last year, you don't want to miss it! T&C

Congrats to all of the Stony Pond Team on your winnings in Ottawa - sorry we couldn't make it, hope to make it next year. Did you get a chance to take any vids or pics? Would love to see them. We won't be able to make it to Elmira due to other commitments for Saturday - good luck to all. Do you guys want to use our grill for lunch Saturday? I can drop it off at Craig's work Thursday or Friday if you want it. Craig, will it be ok if we use the pond Sunday am? Thanks, T&C

RE: Central NEW YORK boaters
Hi Guys, Great time here in London. Weather was hot, but with a good breeze, wasn't as bad as it was in July. Here is a vid of Tim's new twin, pretty impressive. Sorry about the poor quality, need to figure out how to fix that. Lots of gas monos and riggers, real fun to watch and fast for the most part (as much as we hate to admit it). We haven't had the best of luck ( can you say needle settings and FORGET THE STARTER BELT?). Having a great time and looking forward to tomorrow's racing. Sorry we can't make it to London - good luck to all. T&C

And here's one of Bob's Gas Sport 40. Sorry no more from the weekend - forgot to put the sd card in the camera yesterday and it was raining off and on today. Hope to sort out the problem we're having with overheating on the 20 mono this coming weekend. Thanks to all who offered help / suggestions on solving this. We'll get it!! RE: Central NEW YORK boaters
Good day at the pond, despite the rain - thanks Craig for putting up your tarp - kept us dry during the intermitten rain. Craig's 21 got going real good after a few trys, leaning it out each time. Think we figured out the over heating problem with the mono - need more speed, hoping that some new props will do the trick. (Looking forward to racing with Neal next year in 20 Mono class.) Pleased with the performance of the JAE 21, changed the pipe length from London, seemed to do the trick. The JAE 12 is another story - will keep plugging along hoping to get the new motor broke in. Craig - didn't have any vids from London of the B Hydros - too bad, cause they were pretty impressive. Attached is the only half way decent vid that Cindy took - Bob's Gas Mono - check out the move at the end to take over 3rd spot.
