Turnigy 100 3D flybarrless heli are they any good?
Winter is coming and soon I will need something for indoors, has anyone tried one of these things out? Are they stable in thier own wind? What are flight times? Is the radio system easy to program? Do they have any bad habits? I your opinion are they worth getting? Thanks in advance.

RE: NEW to FE? BUILDING a boat? What's a LiPo? Look Here FIRST!!
I just redid a Super Hawaii and found my motor and ESC was too much for this hull, so I'm building a new one. My question is I have 4000mha 20c 3cell lypos and found them puffy and hot after 4 minutes of hard running, now my question is would the batteries do better if I wired them parallel?

Good idea Deathwish I'm thinking maybe the Viking ship can support my idea for linkage. I will look deeper into that maybe just make the boat a bit bigger to put in all the mechanics.

Love the commercial and thanks for the input on Roman ships. I may have to go that route if I can't find an easier build.

Looking for ships with oars
What I'm after is ships or boats that have oars but the people that do the rowing are under the deck. I need ideas and plans because I plan on making a working ship/boat that is not over complicated with detail. I have plans for a more life like rowing mechanism but I also want to keep that part out of sight whether it be under the deck or under some sort of cover. Any info or suggestions would be welcome. Thanks

RE: the Shakes
Every once in a while main shaft bearings can be ready to pack it in. To check take a new bearing and turn the centre with one finger then take your old bearing and do the same. The new one should feel smooth as glass the old one should feel the same if not replace it. Silicon spray on the belt does wonders too.

I've been waiting for a radio I sent money for in Sept. I'm still waiting but keep getting put off for one reason or another. I think I can kiss my money goodbye.

RE: 1st nitro Heli recommendations
Rafeal is right. I myself don't like club commitment so I don't belong to one not that it's the right thing to do. If you just want to fly at the spur of the moment then electric is the way to go less noise less fuss and neighbours notice it less. 6EXA won't work on helis unless it's fixed pitch I personally prefer Futaba myself. For collective you have to have a heli radio. You MUST use training gear until you can at least hover and land it will save you much money and headaches.

How do you work a Thunder Power 1010 charger?
I just got a Thunder Power 1010 charger with a 210 balancer and can't get it to charge. I can get into various screens but I can't get it to start charging. I notice when I plug everything the balancer lights up then goes out stays out and nothing happens. How do you turn on the charging curcuit?

Can you use three cell lypo on a 500 size heli
I am going to change my 600 over to six cell which leaves me 10. 4000mha that I was using in series and want to separate into single batteries. Has anyone used 11.1 volt 4000mha lypos on a 500 and if so how did you like it? I fly sport only and not well at that, to me a stable hover is exciting. Any and input is welome on this, thanks

How do you spool up your 600
I have been having a bit of a time with that. Sometimes if I'm steady I can spool it up without it jumping around. I do find if it starts to jump that if I cut the throttle and give it a quick shot it straightens out. I would like a sure fire way to spool up without the problem of vibration on startup.

RE: My HK 600 reviews
Flyinghigh you mentioned about changing blades and it became a whole different heli. I have stock HK blades on mine and to me they seem too heavy especially on spool up. I have to tighten the grips very tight but not yet solid to make it spool up with as little wobble as possible. I also have to set the flybar and blades level as well as have the main blades straight out. Would using a different brand of blade help prevent spool up wobble?

RE: Erratic T-Rex 600 motor
For what it's worth I have had the same thing happen to me or at least I think the same thing. I would spool up nicely get it in the air and not always but every once in a while it was like it went to full throttle for a second then back to where my stick setting was. I have been trying everything from wire routing to ordering a 2.4 module and reciever which hasn't arrived yet. I heard that static can cause all sorts of control problems and if it's belt drive a lot of static can be produced. What I was told was to lube the belt with silicon lube and then try, so I soaked it. Went and flew today and found my glitches and speed bursts from yesterday did not occur I went through five battery packs without and issue. Now it's too soon to say it's cured but only time and patience will tell and hopefully this and other control problems will be gone.

Anyone ever heard of this heli?
On recent trade I picked up a TJ (Tranjun) super heli #1. It's a 30 size heli with airframe only and another almost complete heli in pieces. This looks like a one off and then out of business due to production costs and sales. The machining is excellent for a about 15 year old heli and it also has anodized aluminum tail tube. It reminds me a a Kalt in some ways. I plan on turning it into a donor heli for my up and coming four blade head for my 600. First I thought I better check with you guys to make sure I'm not going to destroy a piece of heli history. Heres some pics.

RE: Which 500 clone to buy???
The 600 is more docile doesn't get into trouble as fast as a 450 the parts are a fair bit more expensive. The 500 is fairly docile it too is much better than a 450 I also found the parts easier to get, cheaper too and you can get that one out of trouble faster than with the 600. I have had them from 250 and up to 600 in my opinion 500 is the best deal for the common man and easy to fly.

I'm getting another HK500GT I wish I never sold the last one to buy a 600. They are very good I had three of them. The 600 is another story because of thier size they are a whole new adventure with many other things to watch out for not worth it in my opinion that is why I'm selling mine and going back to the HK500 I can work better with those

I had Turnigy 930 mg servos on mine, they centre well and I had 200 flights on them before I sold it.Not a hint of trouble with them and they are cheap out of hobby city they also fit perfectly with no need for spacers or alteration.

RE: is this for real? What's the catch?
Hers my opinion. I get shafted more times than not buying used pictures look good but when you recieve them more times than not you lose. I have had the HK450, HK500 and now the HK600 all have HK servos ,speed controls and motors. Only had one bad ESC the rest have been great. I only use Futaba radio systems and gyros I don't trust any others and don't want to take a chance. The difference between flying the 450 and 500 is night and day and as far as things fitting right I have had the best success with the 500. I have had several of each due to me and my dumb thumbs crashing them. The 600 is better than the 500 but not a lot better like it is between the 450 and 500. I like them and will stick with them I don't fly 3D I fly sport or scale and they can be well behaved for that. Parts do come in and out of stock so sometimes you have to be patient there and shipping from China the stuff is in better shape than shipping at home sometimes. I have never had any real issues with them and recommend them to people I know. One thing is when you get one go over it with a fine tooth comb because they can forget to tighten things.

RE: HK600GT Arrived Today.
Check the tail rotor assembley where it clamps on to the tail boom. The alignment pin on mine was .020 too small and the assembley wouldn't tighten on to the boom because the slot was not wide enough. Machined the slot bigger(a file will do) and made up a new alignment pin that fixed that other than that I am really impressed with it. You may find that on spool up it will dance on the skids no matter what you do for balancing. How I fixed mine was to tighten the main blades more than usual and set my throttle curve to 8 degress at #1 and 20 degress at #2 reason for this is they need a much more gradual spool up than a 500 or smaller would takes them longer to set them selves to fly. One more thing set the main blades out as straight as possible.

RE: Futaba 6EXHP and HK401 gyro questions
Thanks for that note. I have flown in a fairly stiff breeze with these settings and with the mass of the 500 and keeping my heli close enough to keep a good eye on it there was no real problems. my biggest problem is when it gets too far away and I have trouble seeing it. One time I went too high so I backed off on the throttle to get it closer. When it came into a good view it was heading sideways for the ground. I gave it hard right aileron then left and after a swing in both directions it came to a managable hover. Keep in mind these are the same settings I descibed. One thing I never clarified was the heli would start to lift off after half way on the stick so my numbers for pitch may be off but the degrees they climbed were about what I said

RE: Futaba 6EXHP and HK401 gyro questions
Maybe but then again I'm more for going into scale and if my settings are not what I need there I will change them. Sport flying I'm sure is more intense than what I do. And as far as retarding my skills go that's fine because if it helps me to fly with more precision then that is what I want. Really I would like to get to the stage where I can land my heli on a dime and thread it through a doorway without hitting walls. I'm glad your happy with your settings and I'm sure you are. One thing I do do is listen and I don't believe my word would ever be the end all in helis I can never claim that or would I want to. You can think I'm a retard and that's cool but one thing about I will listen and dismiss the stuff that doesn't work when I put it into practise.

RE: Futaba 6EXHP and HK401 gyro questions
I have tried the settings you mentioned and for me they were at a level that didn't work for me. The way I have it set really does give a minimal amount of movement to the heli. I actually have to move the sticks a fair distance for it to move more aggressively. I never changed the tail rotor assembley on mine and never had an issue with it. The only problem I did have was the tail rotor drive gear that runs off the main gear it would strip when the tail rotor contacted the ground while spinning. Keep in mind your skill level is much higher than mine and for you my settings would mean crash due to your flying style. Each to his own and I am no expert I'm just telling what worked for me.

RE: Futaba 6EXHP and HK401 gyro questions
First off I don't fly 3D my setting are about flying when you are still green as grass. I set the pitch at 0% and 0 on the radio, WHY because if I have to suddenly cut the throttle for whatever reason I won't drive the heli into the ground which is what a negative pitch will do in that instance. Second until ones flying skills get to a certain point autorotation is not in the picture either so therefore no need for negative pitch. This is what my 500 flys very easily with no 3D no flips or tick tocks and no flying like a ruptured mosquito. Now a 450 needs more agressive settings because it needs to be in motion to deal with what a litte wind can do to one of those. I have had four of them and after flying a 500 there is no going back I would rather enjoy my flying than fight with the heli. My settings are gentle and if you are just starting out the worst thing one can do in my opinion is have thier heli set for three D flying. When you change your flying style then you change your settings and you change them as gradually as your flying skills improve. Each sets thier machine in what is best for them and for me this way is best. I also now use a Futaba GY240 gyro and for my flying style it is the best I could have for my needs.

RE: Futaba 6EXHP and HK401 gyro questions
You need to ask yourself if you want to fly 3D or scale. I'm going scale so my preference is for slow movement and stability in doing so. I have done all my adjusting on my own with only the help of the poles here and as a result have crashed many types of helis until I got the HK500 and this one has had over 200 batteries through and that is the way it is set up. I'm not misleading anyone here just stating only my experience and what I found and do not profess to be and expert.

RE: Futaba 6EXHP and HK401 gyro questions
It isn't actually % of pitch it is the setting of the radio itself. What I did was trial and error my pitch settings are very mild and it is more like a fixed pitch with my setup. The RPM do the work in my case the pitch is fine tuning for hover and forward flight. This one is set up for hover and mild flying about as gentle as you can get it. This setting will not allow the type of flying so see in the video for that you would need to reset everything. All my settings are trial and error and they work for me. Once ones skill level goes up these settings would be useless.
