RE: Cant see my damn airplane !
Poor vision and small fast aircraft don't make for an enjoyable afternoon. An eye exam by a real eye professional will give you what you need to correct your vision to the best it can be. After that, good sunglasses, a hat with a brim to limit light scatter on the back of your lenses, and keeping your aircraft in at a reasonable distance will turn things around so you can enjoy the hobby. Hope things work out for you.

RE: Why are we using NiMh...really?
Because I have been flying profiles, using a Lipo for a flight pack would be out of the question. I can't open tiny wing hatches and dig out a flight pack every time I need to recharge it outside the airplane. So most of my flight packs are Nimh. I too have been discouraged by many of their traits, especially having to recharge at low current settings and the lousy self discharge rates. I have several Nicad packs that are 10 plus years old and still have 80% capacity and hardly any self discharge. I always thought going to a Nimh would be good in 2 ways. Higher capacity and lower weight. It turns out that the weight savings isn't a concern at all, and the self discharge problem reduces the total pack capacity. So, net gain =0. I am moving into the 21st century and have ordered some Life packs to play with. If all is Ok with the Life packs, goodbye Nimh.

RE: CLEVIS FAILURE :Quicker than you can count to Three
Sorry you lost one man. Never, ever, try to change a configuration when a control surface is suspect. On the real stuff if a control surface is not behaving like it should, all the checklists require that nothing else be tried. Leave it all alone and land when possible in the last configuration before the failure.

Sorry to hear of your prop problems. I have used Master Airscrew and APC props for a long time and have never experienced a failure in flight. Can't imagine what is causing you to tear up all your stuff.

RE: Effects of gravity on Airplane fuel tank in a dive.
I used to do long downlines with the engine at idle and would have intermittent flameouts with my glo engines. I always suspected it was from fuel flowing forward and the clunk being uncovered for too long creating a large air bubble in the pick up line. Video shows the whole deal. Thanks man.

SV-26 CC Anyone using this engine?
Recent thinking has me leaning towards a small fattie gasser just to have a change of pace from my profile collection. The SV-26 CC is available from Value Hobby at an unreal price of $130 bucks. Wonder if anybody has tried this powerplant and what do you think about it. Any comments would be appreciated.

RE: my take on wings
I have just finished reading all the way through this thread and agree with many the reasons why a wing works. I also am amazed at how much mis- information was submitted. Some guys like to over complicate an idea or theory and I am guessing these guys are the ones that crash their planes in the pits cause they can't fly worth a crap. I enjoyed reading everyone's input to this thread. The good, the bad and the ugly. I really did learn some new stuff along the way and to those of you who really understand this topic, I thank you. The rest of you can argue late into the night, and I'll check back later to see what else I can glean from this discussion. Oh yeah, Happy New Years to all. Thanks for all the info.

RE: Knife Edge vs CG
A heading change towards the canopy in KE usually means a slight nose heavy CG. For example the elevator is trimmed slightly up to counteract the nose heavy condition and when the plane is rolled into KE, this uptrim causes a heading change towards the canopy. If tailheavy, the slight down trim works to change heading toward the gear. Good luck, chasing this problem can be a bugger.

Kinda looks like a Funstar on steroids. A little heavy, but I think you have a good choice for the engine. Let us know how it works out.

RE: Center of Gravity contraption
You surely don't need a contraption or anything other than your fingers to determine CG. Don't take a simple concept and turn it into something more than it really is. 1/4 to 1/3 back on the chord will get you flying. After that it is up to you to determine how far back you would like to go with the CG. This caveman method has worked for a long time.

RE: Saito Cam Timing on the 180
You can "clean" up the mushroom cam followers with a fine file and make sure they slide easily in the pushrod tube bores. Then use a push rod to locate the alignment hole and reinstall the cam assembly to the case.

RE: Continued Battery Life Problems
Before you go nuts, try a lower charge rate. Charge those 2200 ma. packs at 200 ma. or less overnight. It sounds like your charger is kicking off way too soon. If you got a full charge into that pack at 1 amp rate, that pack should be warm to the touch. Nimh packs should be charged at 1/10 C or less. Good luck.

RE: Club MAGNUM !
Anybody using a 70 4 stroke ? I wonder why they say not to use a fuel with synthetic oil. Only castor. Anybody running theirs on straight synthetic ? Whats the deal ? I can understand during break-in to use castor, but after that why wouldn't syth work ok ? Just wondering.. Been using synthetic in all my 2 stokes with great results.. What makes the 4 stroke different ? Happy to listen to any ideas on the subject.. Thanks.
