RE: Mode 1
Back in New Zealand when I learnt to fly the majority wher on Mode 1 (I'd have to say probably 95 - 98% flew Mode 1) I had to learn on Mode 1. Now here in Michigan, I am the only mode 1 flyer that I know of. It is what I learned on and I have no desire o change and have to go back to a trainer to re-learn how to fly! George

RE: Michigan Jets 2012
Anyone notice a small issue with this aircraft? This large T-33 had this issue with a small mix error on the transmitter when the gear come up on takeoff, so did the canopy! After 2 or 3 slow laps it was landed with no issues or damage at all. After a quick reprogram it flew successfully again later on in the day! George

RE: JR 12X and 10X Owners - Upgrade your battery pack to Eneloops
I have blown the diode on 2 JR RX packs (One 10x pack and one 12x pack I got to replace the 10x pack). I jumpered the diode and cycled my TX pack for the first time and discovered that my 2000 Mah pack was cycling to less than 900 Mah (I'd never have discovered this if I hadn't blown this diode) Finally got the Enneloop pack from Sin City Jets, Soldered the new pack into the case and after some mods I got it all back into my 10x. I cannot tell any difference between these and the JR 2000 Mah pack. As for reverse polarity when charging, my charger warns and will not charge if any pack is connected in reverse. George

RE: Aerovate/RCGF 50cc Twin Carb question
Thank you all for your help! It really is very much appreciated! I pulled off the plate on the carb that was held on by 4 screws and checked the pump diaphram (I assume that is what this is) and it was still in one piece and very flexible. I placed some fuel onto it and let it sit there for a few minutes before replacing it in the carb. I then looked for the plate held on by 2 screws. There was none, but there was one opposite the other plate that was held on by 1 big screw in the middle. I removed this and was able to flex the valve/flaps by hand without them cracking or anything else. So, I loaded up the area with the fuel mixture and let it sit again for a few minuted before replacing the plate. I placed the end of some fuel tube in a cap full of fuel and attached the other end to the fuel nipple on the carb, closed the choke and covered the little hole in it with my finger and turned the prop hub two turns. It pulled fuel 5-6 inches up the fuel tube! So, this quick (And cheap. Right price!!) seems to have worked for this engine. Now I have to repeate this on my engine that is installed in an airframe already and get that big bird flying (79" Wingspan Ultimate Bipe) So, Once again, I appreciate all you all's help and time in helping me out. George P.S. Oh, The only numbers/letters on the carb itself can be seen in one of the attached pics. Can't find anything on the Walbro web site to even remotly match these numbers!

RE: Aerovate/RCGF 50cc Twin Carb question
Thanks everyone for your help. When I get some time later today or tomorrow I'll try to pull the carb plates off and get some fuel/oil in there and see if that helps. Rich, Good point on the Pulse line. There is a line that goes on the bottom of the engine to the carb but that already has the fuel tube installed from the factory (I may be giving the Chinese a little more credit there but I'd certainly hope they go that right!) [:D] but I'm keeping an open mind. Dan, That's what I'm talking about... the stores list the carbs as Walbro, but if you go to the RCGF manufacturer website is lists the carb as 'Carburetor : RCGF' RCGF Web Site Thanks all for your help. Aerovate/RCGF 50cc Twin Carb question
Hello all, I have a pair of RCGF 50cc twin engines that I purchased under the Aerovate brand 2-3 years ago and only just installed into aircraft. I think that because they sat in their packing for so long without seeing any fues I suspect I may need to rebuild the carbs on them as they are not pulling ful from the tanks to the carb at all. I have opened the needle valves and closed them etc to no effect. I have even tried to push fuel thru the line to the crrb but even the air in the tube will not go into the carb let alone the fuel! My question is this... Any ideas where I can get a carb rebuild kit for these engines OR can anyone tell me what the equivilent Walbro carb for this engine could be? I searched various places online and I can't even find if this engine uses a genuine walbro carb or a knockoff/proprietry kind of carb. Some stores say these have Walbro carbs and some say RCGF/Aerovate carbs. The carb on the engine has no numbers what so ever to indicate what it is! I appreciate all of your all input to help me out. George

RE: Truth is stranger than fiction in model airplanes
This happened last year to a member of our club (I'll not mention his name as not to embarass him) He brought a new plane out to the field for it's maiden. After the pre-flight checks and fina check of the control surfaces (I know he checked everything because I watched him do it) He ligned it up on the runway and took off on a fairly steep climb-out. Next thing you know he's rolling left and right and making it look like it was drunk. He throttled down, made a drunk lap and landed uneventfully. He taxied back to the pits and shit down. He looked decidedly green. All he said in a calm quiet voice was "The Ailerons aere reversed" George

Yellow Aircraft Stingray Manual
Hi All, I have a NIB Yellow Stingray ready to assemble but have come across a little issue... About 2 years ago I moved 1200 miles to a new state. I finally have enough time to begin assembling this kit but the Instruction manual is nowhere to be found. (Either in one of my other boxes or 1200 miles away... OUCH!) Anyhow, I am hopeing someone may have this manual and may be able to scan it and E-Mail it to me or be willing to part with a manual (I'm willing to pay postage). I'm looking forward to this little jet. I haven't decided on a color scheme yet, but my new Step Daughter is the artsy sort so I think I'll take a chance and let her go wild on it! (She hates pink so no pink Jet flying around I hope... LOL) Anyhow, Thanks so much in advance George

RE: Club JETT
Hi All, I have a SJ .50 in a Tower Kaos. Really hauls that around. I use it almost every flying weekend. I also have a SJ .90LX that was in a Great Planes Little Toni that I had gotten 2nd hand. That flew great until the one piece wing decided to make itself into a 2 or 3 piece wing. Not pretty but the engine survived without any problems. These are probably my favorite Glow engines I have! Count me in!! George

RE: Michigan Jets 2011
A few pictures from the weekend - The F100 is not the one that rolled inverted and went in vertically that resulted in a fireball and pretty much nothing salvagable. The Kangaroo had issues on takeoff, bounced off one of the hay bales and ended up in the grass tearing out one main gear and breaking the nose gear leg. I was so sorry to see that nice Cougar go in with what was reportedly a flap issue (When flaps were deployed it rolled and went into the ground)

RE: Michigan Jets 2011
A great weekend flying capped off by some wild weather after the dinner/awards on Saturday evening but followed by some more good flying on Sunday. I had a great time and want to extend my thanks to George for organizing such a great event, the Airport Management of the Gross Ile Airport for allowing us to use the facilities and runway. Also a big thanks goes out to Chris, Curtis and all the other helpers (I'm sorry, I didn't get the names of everyone there but there were a few of you all) I had a great time at this event both flying with the other pilots and tearing up the sky at the same time as Chris's Falcon 120 powered by a Jetcat P80se. Those dual passes were amazing from a pilots perspective and must have looked good from the public's view as well. I'm looking forward to attending again next year! I'll post some pictures once I have a little time to get them off of my Camera! George

RE: Jetaholics Anonymous
Hi all, My name is George and I have been a jetaholic for the past 4 years. Started off with a used Reaction 54/P70 purchase off of RCU and has come to encompass 2 or 3 Shockjets, a NIB BVM Viper (Still NIB), a F100 (Still unstarted), a Rafale (Completed and ready to go minus the Turbine pilfered for another project), an FEJ AT-3 (Started), a Boomerang sprint (Flying) and my pride and joys a started Comp-Arf Lightening and a Aviation Design Storm. Engines include a P60, 2xP70's, P80se, A Titan se that I have had for 2+ years and still have not installed it in an airframe... YET and a Jet Central Falcon (Going to be used in the Storm). I admit it, I have an addiction but I'm not to sure I really want any help. LOL My Wife has an addiction as well. She's into Cross stitching and scrapbooking and spends as much as I do but not in as big a lump sums as I do and she admits it to. If she's happy, I'm happy. George

I still have it but a few pieces of connecting hardware have been pilfered for other more needy projects. I am planning on wiping off the dust over the winter months and attaching floats and try my hand at float flying with it. George

RE: My bad Troy Built Models experience
ORIGINAL: gjhinshaw LOL... Thats Easy!!! 2 went in due to a flat spin..... On a flat spin I have learned that you go FULL Power and UP Ele. to get out... That problem Solved....... One, went in due to Radio problem...... That problem solved..... Went to the HITEC AURORA 9 2.4....... Had a $$ One, went in after I mess with radio and reversed the Ailerons... We know that ... Pilot era..... One, I had a very hard landing and needed a new fuse..... But is cheaper to buy whole plane!!! Solved..... Now # 6 is waiting to be built. That is why I have had six. I am very hard on this plane. You can see some of my videos on TBM site. Those who know me, Know I will tell it like it is!! If its JUNK, I will tell you!!!! I hope this helps, Let me know if there is ANYTHING Else!!!!!
Sounds like my experiences with the ShockJet... First one went down because of the reverse flat spin at to low an altitude and the 2nd was scrapped when the Turbine exploded (Actually the front bearings collapsed and flames shot out the back) and set fire to the fuselage. On my 3rd one now and put it through the ringer. Even though it is currently powered by a 14lb turbine it still flies nice! I have never had a wing fold on mine either but I don't doubt it happens somewhere along the line George
