Hi Folks, Here"s a Dude/my countryman/ who put a DLE2o engine in his Pawnee. He told us,everything is perfect with this engine, the plane's flying like a charm.Watching these picture I'm flirting with the idea to convert mine to gas/from electric/ He put a 16x6 prop on this beauty with a custom made main gear which gives him 4 cm higher prop clearance. The auw is 4220 grs.

RE: BH Ryan Special 92
Hey Handy, The Dle is 30 so lightweight, that you don"t have to add lead in the tail.I had to put 120 gr lead in the nose to achieve the 110mm CG.It"s still a hairy bit nose heavy at this point but I leave this way. The factory given 100mm Cg/the wing chord is 370mm/ gives you a real nose heavy plane.Forget it. /I"m not using the wingstruts,it"s more comfortable for me and /

RE: Old Barn storm find
Thanks for your thoughts on this airplane,Its nice to here some thing positive for a change.I notice that most comments I get about any thing always point out the negatives. Some times I think that most of us in the hobby are very depressed lol. I may have a sale on all my built planes most are static gullows ww1 but I put alot of detail and extra finihing parts into them. problem I have is,To mail them is next to impossible due to there size and fragility.I cant find 24"x 24"x 10" boxes any where.unless I buy a TV box and cut it down alot.So im going to do a must pick it up sale. Im in north NJ. Reason for selling my wife passed away last week and I have to down size my hobby if I move.Curently Im building a remote control turn table for HO rail road which I hope to profit on. All I see for sale are manuely operated. Well thanks again G Geezer.

Yes,it's ok for the 1st few flights ,after that you'll see whether its noseheavy or not.I'm flying mine with a dualsky 5050ca8 motor 14x7 Apc, 5S4900mah Rhino lipos.A hairy bit nose heavy but a windy day is no problem at all.

RE: BH Ryan Special 92
Hi Ian, Well,as for the Mg g46 servos...These are strong ,fast, reliable and cheap servos.I already use a few dozen in my planes with satisfaction. You can buy them for 9.99$ at HC. I even fitted them into my big gassers,CARF EXTRA,H9 Carden Yak,Pilot Rc Yak 88". Being so cheap,I change them in my gassers for new ones at the beginning of the season as a prevention and sell them. These are fast servos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihTLz43ZMuE&feature=related I"d read more about your Ryan in the future with pleasure. Cheers

RE: BH Ryan Special 92
Are you talking about this? http://www.blackhorsemodel.com.vn/index.php?mod=pro&act=detail&pid=151 I"ve also felt in love [:D] with this beauty and just recently bought one.The 1st impressions are good as for the quality and the incl. hardware. The huge shipping box was nicely organised, well packed inside and everything was in top condition. The Covering was wrinkle free real oracover, all the hardware seems to me usable [8D] The main gear is shock absorber type fork [;)] I"d like to fly it by a DLE30 like this german dude: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WY96A5Hldcc&feature=related As I can decide it from the video the power is more than adequate for scale like flying.I hardly can wait for the spring to fly this huge baby [:)] To be continued.....

RE: Old Barn storm find
yes Guitarpikk sounds like you described it to a T I know his covering is very differet compared to todays stuff or yesterdays for that matter. I dont suppose you like guitar playing with a name ke yurs...lol If so check my other hobby at housedrone1 on utube. do you think I should leave the covering or paint it its pretty shabby looking . but it looks like it needs some thing. previous owner glossed the centers of the wings and thats ugly too. I wuld recover it but i dont think i can break the bonds on the struts,

RE: Old Barn storm find
Well thanks for all the input on it. The engine did come with a glow plug in it. Im going to clean it up. The engine was gumed up but after I took out the plug and put a few drops of oil and worked it a back and forth it losened up. So this was a kit from the early 70s. Im trying to figure out what type of covering it has, its thick and flexable seems like a factory custom material. never seen this material before.Been painted but its a thick flexable plastic covering. makes the plane very heavy but strong. I want to put some turn buckles on the guy wires. Looking for them. 2 for ten at tower is too much $ for this plane plus there too big. I might find some from a ship model co. unless you know a place?

Any Idea of the date? Great U-Control all works ust needs a few minor repairs Who ever built this did a great job. Found it on craigs for 25. 30"span wire controls may be able to fly it again. Do you think its worth any more than What I paid? But What year I wonder.
ORIGINAL: jpanhalt I fly with a 13X6 Evolution and OS70 FS. Have also flow with 12X7 and 12X8 and same engine. You may find ground clearance a problem with a 14'' prop and stock wheels. John
I"m flying mine with a 5050ca 08 dualsky motor, 5 cell 4900mah lipo, 14x7 APCE prop/equal to a 15cc 4 str/ and no problem with the ground clearance. Cheers
