RE: Futaba MC 9100A ESC
Any life left in this thread? I just picked up the the OS and am planning on using it with a Hacker C50-14XL Comp motor. Of course, after I purchase the controller I notice the PWM timing for the motor is fixed at 32kHz, and the Hacker calls for 8kHz. All my research suggests a PWM timing of 8kHz is pretty common and higher values are "unusual". The risk seems to be primarily a hotter running ESC. Since OS (or Futaba) has eliminated this as a user adjustable feature, they must have taken it into account when they designed the controller. On the other hand, there is a warning in the instructions that "some commercially available motors may not match the advance adjustment of the OCA-1100HV" Do they mean literally the the advance timing adjustment or is this some poorly translated text? Jason ran a Hacker Q-80 11S with this controller at the NATS this summer. Hacker suggests 8kHz for this motor. It seems to have worked fine for him in the extreme heat at Muncie during the NATS.

RE: New Hacker ESC Senstrol
Maybe I'm just old, but the first generation of brushless motors had a set of position sensing wires connected back to the proprietary ESC (aka Aveox). I still have a ducted fan and a helicopter equipped with Aveox motor/controller combinations. I'll have to see if I can find the instructions, but they may have the same "governor" mode to maintain RPM and or power.

RE: Hacker A60 7S V2
I sent an email to tech support at Aero Models and here is their response: Bob, It is not possible to convert it without modification. The extra clips are just spares that are used in some of the other A60 motors. If you need a conventional mount A60 S motor, the A60-22S V2 28 Pole would be the equivalent motor in the other mounting orientation. So, there is the answer.

Team copy, posting copy, records copy, spare copy. Every hand written score sheet was manually verified with the computer generated tear sheet, any errors (there were a couple, but not many) were immediately corrected and tear sheets reprinted. The FAI jury audited the score sheets after the prelims, semis, and finals and found no errors. A huge thank-you to Linda Jesky (keymaster) , Margaret Guerin (gatekeeper) , and Heather Kaluf (score poster) for your great work. "We don't judge in scoring"

The club did re-arrange the field so we fly facing North. They built a new clubhouse and flight line shelter on the South side of the runway. It is very pattern and family/spouse friendly. Indoor plumbing and all.

RE: Weak Signals Contest
Drop "11452 Minx Road, LaSalle, MI" into Google Maps and it put a marker right at the entrance to the field. Switch your view to satellite to see the field. You can see the clubhouse and the covered shelter behind the flight line, There is 120V available on every support post of the flight line shelter. No need for generators (except for Brenner :)) Also, the trees you see on the North side of the field have been removed since this picture was taken.

RE: Weak Signals Contest
Bob Kane here, co CD for this contest. The field will be open for practice Friday around Noon or so. The address for the club according to Google Maps is: 12000 Minx Road Temperance, MI 48182 The address puts you at the corner of Minx and Rauch roads. Also. many of the roads are very bad shape, especially Rauch Road. I recommend getting to Minx Road via Luna Pier Road (exit 6 off I-75), Minx Road is 1.5 miles west of Telegraph. The road sign is hard to see so pay attention. The other road is Yargerville Road to the North, about 2.8 miles North of the field. Get off I-75 at Exit 9, South Otter Creek, go west to until it "T"s into Dixie Highway (M125). Turn right a short way and turn left on South Otter Creek to Telegraph. It is a three-way intersection, veer to the left at Telegraph to get on Yargerville Road. It is roughly 3.5 miles to Minx Road. Look for hotels at I-75 Exit 210, Alexis Road. Many of the hotels in Monroe are booked this weekend.

FWIW the 35mm Rimfire adapter does not fit the Omega 130G. The hole spacing is different.

The latter. The adapter bolts to the front of the motor with 4 allen screws. The good news is I contacted 3D Hobby and they are sending a new prop adapter. Thanks 3D Hobby Shop!

RE: Antenna Length
What brand of RX? I have played with Airtronics 2.4 RX's and found the internal antenna wire connectors are the same as the ones used on laptop mini-pci wireless cards. The antennas from scrapped laptops offer up a source of coaxial wire with the connector attached. For Airtronics receivers, only the last 1-3/13" of bare wire is the actual antenna, the rest is shielded coax. I don't think the length of the caox up to the point where the center conductor is exposed to form the antenna is critical, but make sure thoroughly range check if you repair it yourself.

Prop adapter question
What are the chances that prop adapters for outrunner motors are interchangeable? I have an Omega 130G and the prop adapter appears to have a slight wobble machined in, and the supplied prop nut is slightly oversize and jams on the threads. I was wondering if I picked up a prop adapter from Tower for a 35mm Rimfire if the bolt pattern would be the same. I welcome any feedback, in the meanwhile I ordered the RImfire adapter to see if it fits. I will report the result back here. Thanks.

RE: 2010 US Nats... share YOUR story
Arch Stafford's plane lost an aileron on Monday, he borrowed a Black Magic from a local friend to finish the NATS. Tony Frackowiak and Dave Snow had a midair on Wednesday on site one that no one was aware of until after Dave landed. The top of his Onas's vertical stab was blown open, and Tony's right wheelpant and wheel were gone. No one realized they had hit each other. No parts were seen departing from the aircraft. Dave borrowed fellow Master's pilot Brenner Sharp's contra-rotating prop Integral to fly the finals. I know George Asteris had a midair on site 3 on Wednesday, not sure who the other pilot was. His plane was a total loss, not sure if the other plane was repairable or not.
ORIGINAL: shannah In reading the Nats News, I see reports of mid airs and also of Masters finalists flying something different than what they started with. What's the scoop? How was the flying in the other classes?
