RE: 46% Christen Eagle II
the prototype flew for the first time today no incident weight 49 pounds 12 oz. flew like a big bird 3w 160 4 cyl for power, 32x11 prop.It is much faster than i expected for a bipe, the scale air foil did well very low drag and took a long time to slow down despite drag of the flying wires, landed and bounced because i had elevator on low rate, (note to self when landing always check to see on high rates) landing gear absorbed the bounce real well all seemed fine, will go over it tonight and go back to the field to wring it out tomorrow i might do some experimenting with props as it may help my deceleration issues also the prop noise Jmb canisters are very effective cant hear the engine only prop noise but sounded really good

water retrieval robot
new to boats mostly fly giant scale and helicopters. so please excuse my ignorance, I am helping a friend of mine with a project and need a little basic info on a power system we are building a retrieval robot that will pull fishing lines in surf the unit will be powered with a 12 volt gel cell battery, entire weight of craft will be about 8 pounds but must be able to pull at least 5 pounds. so i need a brush less motor power system speed control and motor recommendations also prop we want to use the 12 volt battery for power and also radio system so either a good BEC or speed control with BEC will be helpful.

46% Christen Eagle II
[:D] If there is anybody out there still scratch building,I now have all the parts finished for the 46% christen eagle II. The plans used were Frank Knoll 38% eagle (actually 34%) you will have to scale them up i can provide dimensions to enlarge them. I do not sell plans so don't ask I do believe in the copyright system. Wing span is 110" and uses a 6" true turn ultimate spinner to complete the scale outline. the parts available are the 2 place canopy, cowling, wheel pants left and right ,landing gear cuffs,Cabane to top wing fairing,I struts, and wheel pant axle covers I had another thread some where about this model but cant find it any more, i know some guys were interested If i get any interest in the parts I will send the molds to fiberglass specialties and have them make the parts since i am not in the fiberglass business and i have contacted them about the project and are willing to undertake making the parts if there is enough interest. I do have a source for the canopies. due to its size this is not for the faint of heart, the parts will not be inexpensive, the canopy for example will be $75.00 since it uses (1) 2'x4' sheet of plastic to make one I have 2 in the paint stage right now and will have some pictures soon I am expecting a finished weight of 45 pounds with a 3w 160 4cyl for power, the other will use a 3w 157 or equivalent thanks for all who have contacted me in the past about this model it has been 2 years of delays since I started this.

RE: CNC effort
Allen did you evr get the cnc thing started? what type of file do the plans have to be scanned into? how large is the router table? or the approximate length width and height of material that you are able to cut. it it possible to scan or digitise a small scale model 1/24 for example then scale up to say 1/4 scale? very interested i have a few projects in mind for this sort of thing

RE: Best Plug material
I have used bass wood in the past, the grain very tight and is fairly easy to carve. you will have to laminate a few boards together to get the size you require as large blocks are expensive, a good hardwood supply company will have the material. do you do the cnc machining or do you have someone in mind i would like to find out more about this thanks

RE: Custom Male Molds
I recently made a mold using eurathane foam, its very easy to sand and shape, after that glass the entire surface with about 3 layers of 6 oz cloth(epoxy or polyester resin your choice neither will attack this type of foam. when finished remove the foam from the inside of your mold with a knife or dremel (very messy part of the process) then supporting the empty mold upside down mix up some plaster of paris and coat the inside with aproximately 2 inches of plaster let the plaster dry and you will now have a mold that will stand up to any type of vacuum forming machine . note it will probably weigh about 60 pounds in the size you are making but i dont know of a cheaper way to make one. you could fill with epoxy but the cost would go through the roof. 25 pound bag of plaster is only $8.00 from the hardware store good luck

RE: 38%Christen Eagle
Tony super job I had one with the same power combo like yours you will really enjoy it (no bad habits)lost mine due to battery failure. On my 46% model i did the same motor box and cabane mounting setup, but did not have that on the small one I understand that there were some failures of design with the split formers and cabane mounting. good luck

RE: Doss Stead P-51 Mustang
I happen to have one it flies like a trainer mine had all the scale details, and i am a heavy builder 38 1/2 pounds. flys like it was on rails, with full flaps slowed down to a walk and landed nose high like a real one.no tip stall tendencies currently making plans to install larger engine to swing a 4 bladed prop. and have it all hidden in the cowl. originally i flew it on a sachs 3.2, slow to accelerate but once wound up would go like hell

Hanger 9 TOC Ultimate elevator failure
Getting ready for the first flight on my Hanger 9 TOC ultimate when i noticed my elevator trim keeps changing, i kept readusting linkages and even changed elevator servos, thinking they were drifting off center just to discover that the hard points in the elevators were coming loose. One elevator had even broken out at the leading edge. after cutting open covering to see what the fix may be, discovered that there was almost no glue on the hardwood dowels where they attach to the elevator.I am using all the recomended hardware called for in the kit. This was very dishartening considering the cost of this ARF, has any body ever heard of this before? I have ordered a new horiz stab and elevator from Horizon and i wonder What Horizon will do when i call about this problem. keep em flying

RE: Best Smoke Pump>>>For Gasser's
I have tried them all and the most reliable is the Sullivan Skywriter it has adjustable flow rate like the slimline but costs a lot less also can be run with 4.8 volts to 6 volts i use it on planes from 50cc up to 150 cc lots of smoke with minimum smoke oil used i have never had to run mine wide open on 4.8 volts and it supplies plenty of oil to all engines except the 150 cc motors which will need 6 six volts.

[:D] I am trying to install a 3w 100 twin in my H9 sukhoi, but i do not want to cut cowling for spark plug caps, are they any tricks for getting plug caps any closer to the engine? it seems to lack only a little room from my rough calculations. has anybody ever seen one with a 3w 100? any ideas?

RE: quality electric smoke pumps
I have been very pleased with the Sullivan smoke pump. i have pumped about 4 gallons of fluid through the pump so far and it is working just as advertised. This pump gives way more smoke than any other pump I have ever used and no leaks. The TME pumps barely last for 2 gallons then they start to leak all 5 of mine did. I highly recommend this pump try one and i think you will be pleased. I run a ZDZ 80 single with a homemade smoke muffler and 40oz smoke tank. and get close to 8 minutes of smoke at full throttle and pump is running a 6 volt 1400 ma pack the mix setting i use is at full throttle pump is about 75% on. I like the fact where you can fine tune the smoke output until you get just the right volume of smoke without any extra mess on the aircraft. on the torgue rolls the airplane will completely disappear by the 2nd roll you have to climb out to find it.
