down and locked gear failure
Has anyone else had gear failure with down and lock retract conversion? We have had 10 for 10 failure and I just read where two other guys with jets had the gear fail. Has anyone used the electric gear from dreamworks r/c? I would like to know what failed on your gear. This is the same gear that is sold by robart. Here is a picture of the gear that failed in a gear that weight is 3lbs each on a 80lb jet. I sent them back for repairs over 3 times each and still dont work. That little gear at the end of the number 11 blade is the gear that is pressed onto a little 50cent motor.Has anyone came up with a fix? Thanks for your help

I am looking for someone that has some of the LADO gears for sale. I would like to get a few set of these gears for smaller jets, I have never had a failure on their gear.

RE: NEED HELP WITH PROBLEMS WITH DOWN AND LOCK RETRACTS?
Well after today. I will pay someone to modify my down and lock gear conversion. I was putting the gear up for its first flight tomorrow with the ME262. First, the falcon (14ft ws approx 90lb )main gear motor stop working on one side. It is making a weird noise and does not work. Does anyone have any ideal what it could be? I have already send them back 3 times for other defects and this motor is making the same noise as the last motor that burned out. Now the ME262 9ft approx 38 lb when I started to put the gear up, one did not move. I troulbe shot the problem and it is the control board. Has anyone had this issue with the board and is there another fix to use these gears without down and lock controller? This will be the last electric conversion I will ever do. I am willing to pay a fair price for a gear if they work. Please give me some ideals. I have 23 other jets I am building and need help. I love the jet tronic electric air valves. I have put them on 9 jets I have built in the last 5 months and have not had one gear to hang up or not work. My buddy is building the same ME262 and has the same issues, he too need a solution

RE: NEED HELP WITH PROBLEMS WITH DOWN AND LOCK RETRACTS?
All seven of these gears have been for rework over 3 times. He has tried to reslove the issues but still have problems. I am looking for some help on someone to rework my gear from him so the will work correctly. I have taken 4 set apart and fixed the bind problem and broken screws. I have one set of gear that take 18 second to come down. I did not purchase the sequeciner because I did not read on thier site of any issues. Horizon Hobby put out a service bulletion about issue with another complany product with the 2.4 system, but this was not my problem. On jets you can not have slow gear, if you move the rudder while the gear is coming down, the noise gear will lock and you have to recycle. On slow planes, the slow gear looks scale but is a problem on jets. The first two set of gear that I purchased over 2yrs ago were slow but never failed but only have 8 flights on them. I have contacted a mfg in China to look at some of the gear on the market and try to develop a gear that would work for the scale look and faster gear for the jets. They said it would be a few months before a proto type would be made. Some of the planes are over $20k and I can not take any chances. Thanks for your input.

RE: NEED HELP WITH PROBLEMS WITH DOWN AND LOCK RETRACTS?
After all the problems with down and lock retracts, I have went back to the eflite gear on the light jets and they work great. They are very cheap and very fast. Thanks for the advice. I never had to put rf filter on eflite gear and they work with everyones door sequincers. Troybuilt models also have gear conversion I am switching to, have not tried them yet. But troybuilt gear is less than 100 buck for a complete set. You can do 5 airplanes for the price of oneof down and locks stuff.

NEED HELP WITH PROBLEMS WITH DOWN AND LOCK RETRACTS?
I HAVE PURCHASED APPROX 10 SET OF THESE RETRACTS AND STILL HAVE PROBLEMS WITH LOTS OF THEM. HAS ANYONE CAME UP WITH A WAY TO MAKE THE GEAR FASTER? HAS ANYONE FOUND A SUPPLIER THAT YOU CAN CHANGE OUT THE SHAFTS WHEN THEY BREAK? CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO STOP THE GLITCHES? I HAVE BURN OUT 6 SERVOS DUE TO THE GEAR GLITCHING, IS THERE A WAY TO STOP THIS? THESE GEAR WILL NOT WORK WITH MY DOOR SEQUENCIER, DOES ANYONE KNOW ONE THAT WILL WORK WITH THE SYSTEM? I REALLY LIKE ELECTRIC GEAR OVER AIR, BUT ANY HELP TO RESOLVE MY PROBLEMS WOULD BE APPRICATED.

I got started on another large project. This would require to much work. Everything I got with the kit was junk. I threw the landing gear, radio and parts in the trash. It would be quicker to buy Nick's plans and build a mold from scratch. I build a studio project for him and in exchange for this plane. I should have taken the cash for the project LOL. My loss

RE: CESSNA 185 35% TMMY COMPOSITE
Anyone building Tommy kits need to beware of a problem. I have built 3ea of the cessna and 3 ea dc-3. Where the tail bolts together is very weak. We have one of the ring pull out while moving it on the ground. This sections needs to be reworked. I would suggest cutting the ring and install plywood sleeves and installing 2 layers of 8 0z. glass cloth around the compete ring. We also put carbon tow as extra strengh. We made all three of our electric with hacker 200 and they flew great. I like his kits, but they are a little heavy. The DC-3 fly great with the cheap Maxx product motors. They take off in less than 100 ft and fly over 10 minutes on 10,000ma batteries.

Has anyone had programming problems with the EV-5U and the ev-pc card? I have three jets with this unit and I can not change the program in the unit. I have left over 10 message with their tech support, what a joke. Not one answer. After spending $2,300.00 with a vendor, you think they would respond to your questions. RE: CESSNA 185 35% TMMY COMPOSITE
Thanks Steve, I will open up our second and try the retro, I may redraw the hinge and laser cut a new hinge setup. If I do, I will cut an extra set. My hinges looks to be over sized on the slots, this cause the hinges to have up and down play. When you have the hinges down 15%, if you lift the hinges upward, the hinges will return to 12% on one and the other is about 10%. Bad deal when you drop flaps and find the plane banking to one side. Good ideal tommy has, but a little more money in good hinges will go a long ways.. Paint adds a lot of weight, so I try to use a primer close to the finish color to save weight. I know on these heavy planes, a few extra pounds does seem like much, but it will add up quick. I found that out on a 1/5 bear cat I built...ouch 3 1/2 pounds in primer and paint.. Gregg aka Gizmo

I used a hacker A200-8 with spin 200 with a mejzlink 32 x 12L and ran thunderpower 2ea 5s 5000 and 1ea 4s 5000 x 3packs. Pack and motor did not get past warn during the flight. It flys at half throttle, I am putting one of the Cessna on floats when they arrive. I used smart fly eq6 for my servos with 2ea 2s 5000 on the receiver.

Here is a pic of the broken gear from tommy's big cessna, you can see the poor material/ mfg...suggest to change before test flying, this broke not during our two landing which was so soft but during slow taxing.. no damage to plane, just a small scratch.

RE: CESSNA 185 35% TMMY COMPOSITE
We had about 8 to 12 cross wind take off on the cessna and it was just like when I fly the real one. Single servo works good on the elev, but take your advice, split the elev. We made a high speed pass low pass, I would estimate about 85mph and it flew at half throttle ( that is electric power) with good speed and will climb at a drop of a hat with power. We flew the 15ft decathlon yesterday. THAT is the plane, 60lb with same hacker A200-8 with 32 x 12 carbon prop, insane power and climb......... I dont mean post other planes/pics on your thread not related to your project, but I thought it might be interesting to your and your followers

we made our first flight with no flaps, it took about 150 ft in soft/hard sand/dirt to lift off but we were playing it safe. Very solid flier, dont like the sloppy flaps, I will remake them on my other two kits. Landing gear MUST be replaced with carbon or USA made good gear.

Great looking prep/paint job. We got two that were painted, the red and white one shown in my pics has a bad paint job, it a 25 footer.. have not look at mods on the cessna for floats, possible alum channel with 20 oz carbon mat to stiffen up sides, try to tie it into the front bulk head. May have to put carbon tow around doors to transfer loads to complete fuse... I have a 188in ws C-130 coming from the netherlands, it is in customs yesterday.
