RE: U Can Do 3D
if your talking about a 60 size then you should be ok, your about 5 oz heaver than a saito 125 so you may have to put the battery (and a few other items) in the rear of the fuse, but it should be ok.

RE: Saito 100 Questions
ORIGINAL: w8ye there is a lot of vibration in this area and the length of your extension plus the weight of your knob are just too much movement,. See if you can come up with something that weighs less?
ive had not one problem with my extensions and have been using them for years. must be lucky! on my pitts i did wrap some elec tape around the wire to slow the osilation down and i also used red thread locker in the hole, and like i said it has been hassle free for at least 4 years in the same plane on a saito 180.

RE: Saito 100 Questions
Last question:  So I've made up a little handle (bent landing gear wire) going through the cowl and into the HSN so I can make adjustment.  But on my last flight I noticed the thing was sloppy loose.  So not wanting to loose it, I loosened the set-crew, reinserted the little handle and retightened it.  Well at the end of that flight I still lost the thing.  Made another one but it wont surprise me to loose that one after a few flights too.  So, whats a good way to go here?  There has to be a better way?  I don't want to over-tighten and/or strip that little set-screw in the HSN.  Anyone know any tricks that might last a while?  I'd post this in the Saito thread but who wants to search though over 700 pages to find a reply? Thanks in advance. Shaggy Hobbsy is right about being rich on the low speed needle, and below are pics of how i made my wire adjustment for most of my planes. they are knobs off of a old radio i had and some wire pushrod that i JB welded into place.

RE: U Can Do 3D
havent done a whole lot of flying lately, still have my goldberg pitts w/saito 180. Superstar w/OS 160, and over the winter i built a 90 size P51D w/saito 125. but i am getting ready to order me a new UCD 60 and put another saito 125 in it. i sold my other one because i thought i was tired of it and a guy offered me good money for it, but now i realize it was the funest plane i had.the wind here in Nev does blow alot and that is what slowed me down. good to here from you!

RE: Seagull Superstar 120. Weak spot repair!
Vic is right, i fly mine with a OS 160 which i like very much, if a saito is to be used a 180 would do the trick.

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?
you can fly it with a .55 ax, but for the true potential to be brought out of this plane it needs a saito .82-1.00 or equivilant IMO.

my os 160 does the same thing with 10% omega so i went to 20% powermaster and pretty much solved the problem. my saitos run great on the omega 10%

10, 15% seems best for me, im at 5650 here in Nevada and the 30% runs crappie in mine also.

RE: Saito 100 fuel
ORIGINAL: Fun Flyer hey guys, I tried the engine today at the field with 30% fuel. Man.. what a change! The guys at the field helped me set the engine up now its doing a super smooth idle at 1600 rpm and can go down a little more, when you punch the throttle its turning the 15x4W at 10,230. My harrier used to hover at almost full throttle, now it hovers at a little less than half throttle and has very decent punch out! As for fuel economy, I did a full10 minute flight using lots of full throttle and when i finished I had spent less than half of my tank which is somewhere around 14-16oz. Then I did a more relax flight mostly at around 1/4-1/2 throttle and some full throttles to get out of hovers when i did. I flew for 15 minutes like that and after i finished I still had more than  half a tank left. I am a happy Saito owner now! :) thanks for your input, William
JMO but 10230 is a little much and could damage your cam with straight synthetic oil. you should be turning a 16x4w at between 8600-9000 rpm. i have replaced a cam before using 30% with no castor.

RE: Saito pipe question..
ORIGINAL: Pete737 Gjeffers, How do you think it would perform without the pressure nipple? Thanks, Pete
if you dont have any fueltank pressure feed issues it will run fine.the tank would have to be close and inline with the carb to have a chance. the only issue i can forsee is in a hard climb.

i did that with my 100, was great, and sounded good also[8D] it will not hurt the engine.

RE: U-can-do 46 or 60
with a magnum 52 i wouldnt think you would have enough power to tear off anything. ive had 4 of these and 3 60 size, the 46 with saito 100 (and for a while a saito 125) and never had this happen. if you cut the covering with a sharp knife (and a lot of people do this) then it may have cut into the balsa. the 46 ucd is a good strong plane.....just my opinion[;)]

RE: U-CAN-DO .46 LANDING GEAR SURDY?
a couple of screws soaked with epoxy will do the trick, has worked on 4 ucd's of mine. just drill and tap from the bulkhead side through the gear block towards the cooling ramp and install the soaked screws.

RE: U Can Do 3D
ORIGINAL: apacheapache45 Barry, I know you have flown the ucando with the Saito engine inverted with standard setup with the tank, did you have any problems with flooding. I am just about to build my third one, 1st with Super Tigre 90 upright never could get the throttle transition right, also died a bit. The next one with a Saito 125 upright was fairly happy with it just needed to add down thrust and it was good. This one I intend to do inverted, copped a lot of crap from the boys because it didn't look right, just don't want to have any hassles with the standard set-up. I was using a 16x6 prop. Any help would be appreciated Cheers Bob
Bob, ive built three also and my last setup was the perfect setup as far as fuel flow and easy tuning.

RE: Four stroke surging when cold.
ORIGINAL: Ed Cregger
ORIGINAL: Campgems Gary, bad use of Vent. I meant the line from the muffler to the tank. The crank case vent is just long enough to get through the cowl. I'm guessing that the 4" "Rule" is broken. I'll have to check that out. Don
- The only time that I have heard of a 4" rule is when you are using the crankcase pressure to feed a tee that is fitted to a Perry Pump and the other end to atmosphere. You don't want the tubing from the crankcase nipple to exceed 4" and the shorter before the tee, the better. Ed Cregger
i didnt say anything about a 4" rule, i just was saying that anything shorter than 4 in and you risk sucking in outside air into the crankcase, mine are mostly about 8-10 in. the volume of air transfered in and out of the crankcase varies with the engines used but if the volume is greater than the hose then outside air enteres the case. i take back the 4 in remark and replace it with your hose should be long enough to handle the volume of your crankcase transfer.
