RE: ParkZone Radian RTF
dhcody, That's where I have mine right now. Will test fly it hopefully soon. Depending on weather and work. Should be a nice, relaxing sailplane.

RE: ParkZone Radian RTF
Thanks Fred and Aeajr. I modified my Radian during the winter, but haven't flown it yet. It's new.... :) Used different control horns and clevises. Also swapped out the servos for HS -82 's. Needed to ad about an ounce to the nose for the CG around 65 mm. Will try it there. Should be close to where it should be for good thermaling. Am experienced in flying, but was wondering if anyone really measured the CG on their Radian. Hope to have it out soon. The weather is finally breaking here in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. Stay tuned.

RE: ParkZone Radian RTF
Do either of you guys have a radian? If so, where did you wind up having the CG?

ParkZone Radian RTF
Has anyone experimented with the CG on the Radian? I think it's supposed to be 62 mm (approx 2.5") behind the leading edge, but that seems a bit nose heavy for thermaling?

OS 32 SX
Hello, Have an OS 32 SX with about 100 flights on it. I run S&W 15 nitro, 10x6 APC prop and OS A3 plug. Am very strick with adding after run oil. Lately, have noticed a slight 'whoooshing' sound while flying. Tought, it maybe a bearing, but the prop turns by itself in a slight breeze (like it was new) with no stiffness or roughness felt in the bearings. Perhaps it was the needle valve setting? It was leaned out for peak power during that flight. Wish I could recheck it, but it's winter here in PA right now. The engine starts very easily and is a true powerhouse, with no loss in power detected. Any ideas?

RE: OS Engine Question
64 or 65 and doing 3D, sounds nice. God Bless him. Pattern is a lot of fun for me and teaches discipline in ones flying. Some people lack that in their maneuvers. The twist 60 can be flown in pattern flying too. True all-around type plane. The 91 FX provides a ton of power for the bird. Nice [8D]

RE: OS Engine Question
That is surprising. Especially when the Twist 60 isn't a pattern plane, but can be very smooth (pilot able). I like to do rolling circles and extreme flat spins with mine.[;)] Yes the 4 cycles and gassers are much hotter, but wan't sure on the amount of (hotness) compared to a 2 cycle of the same displacement.[8|] The smoke cartridges seem to be catching on in popularity. Think I may try them out this year at our club show and the upside is no messy oil to deal with.[:D]

RE: OS Engine Question
W8, Thanks for your input. The Twist 60 that I fly will hover about 3/8 trottle. I have no doubt that the smoke system will somewhat deminish the flight performance on my flying with the added weight, but probably would be still able to a lot of the maneuvers. Believe it or not, used to have a full smoke system in a Hangar 9 Aresti 40. Saito 72 up front. No that was a bit heavy for sure. As long as you had good power on take off, the plane actually flew very well with smoke on. Anyway, can't imagine anything more than a 91 on the twist 60. Your friend must be a real power user. It's one of my favorite planes as well, W8. Believe the best thing is to probably keep it light, as mentioned. Perhaps will add a smoke cartridge to the underside instead. Keep'em flying....

RE: OS Engine Question
W8 & Dar, Thanks for your input. Will take it under advisement, but you both didn't answer my question about the engine. Regarding the weight issue, have you both seen the twist 60 fly? With a 75, it's practically unlimited and the wing has lift to burn. Thanks again guys. Glowfuel.

OS Engine Question
Hello Good People, Have an OS 91 FX engine on a Twist 60. Would like to put a smoke system in it. Was thinking about the Sullivan one. Question: Will the OS 91 FX get the muffler hot enough for good smoke or are two strokes just a waste of time to get decent smoke? Was going to use a preheater too. Thanks in advance!!!

Giant Aeromaster by Great Planes
Was thinking about picking up the GP Giant Aeromaster RTC version. Would the listed 1.60 FX OS engine provide enough power for mild aerobatics for this biplane? Would there be any CG issues by using this lighter engine? Really don't want to go to gas if I don't have to. Thanks in advance.

RE: Twist 60 info needed----NOW!
Not so with my Twist. I have many years experience and the CG set at 150mm is simply too tailheavy for many if not most people. I originally had mine at 150mm and the ballooning was literally uncontrollable, at times, during landings. I have mine set at 5 3/8" at it will still do everything without the dangerous ballooning. Happy Landings,

Hangar 9 Twist 3D 60 HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Hello: Have a Hangar 9 Twist 60. Running an OS 91 FX, APC 14x4 prop and 15% nitro fuel. The plane seems very tail heavy. From take off to landing. Have the CG at the most forward position 5-7/8" and landing is still a handfull. The elevator is very sensitive and balloons terribly on landings. I am slowing it down quite a bit, but it still should not balloon this badly. Are the CG numbers in the book wrong?? I am going to move the CG forward about 1/4" and retest. On high rates on elevtor, the plane will actually snap while flying when the elevator pulled all the way back. This is another indicator of a tail heavy plane. All throws and the CG values are what the book recommends, but something is still wrong. Do you have any recommendations other than moving the CG forward???

RE: OS 91 FX Needs Help!!!
UPDATE: Wanted to let you guys know that O.S's Hobby Services replaced the front and rear bearings and crankshaft in the engine. Though they were not entertaining the fact of replacing the engine, I feel they made an honest attempt to replace parts and make the existing engine new again with no charge to me whatsoever. Will continue to buy OS products in the future. Regards.

RE: OS 91 FX Needs Help!!!
Guys, Thanks so much for the infomation. Much appreciated. Read Below Here is an update: The same fuel was used in other engines without any problem. Listen to this: I dismantled the engine and took off the backplate. I was in shock. The crankshaft is totally rusty, along with the bearings and connecting rod. This was supposed to be a brand new engine from TowerHobbies. They will be receiving a call tomorrow..... One thing I do remember is when I intially started the engine, black oil poured from the muffler. That was a sign for sure, but didn't think much of it at the time... Still cannot believe TowerHobbies sold this engine as new. Only thing I could think of is that is was not properly oiled at the mfg and was in a bad environment for a period of time. Who knows............... Regards.

OS 91 FX Needs Help!!!
Have a brand new OS 91 Fx with only a few tanks trough it. Engine broke-in fine yesterday and is smooth running. Today, I noticed the bearings feels like they have notches in it when I rotate the prop and hear squeeking and feel grinding when I rotate the prop. Are the bearings shot already???? Or is this something else. Again the engine is brand new. Thanks.....

Scratch Built Albatross C III
I have a question on a scratch built 1/6th scale (75 inch) Albatross C III biplane. OS 120 AX up front. Total weight is about 10-11 lbs. How much should the control surfaces deflect for first flights??? Also, there is the CG question The top wing is staggered positively forward by 3 inches. 10 inches of distance seperate the two wings. Don't have the plan info for the CG, but did some CG calculating and it comes out to be 5 inches back from the leading edge of the (bottom portion) of the top wing OR 2 inches back from the leading edge of the bottom of the bottom wing. Sound about right? Any help you can provide on the control throws will be greatly appreciated. Any strane landing take off or landing characterisitcs and or stall problems?? Thanks, David Samsell Moscow PA glowfuel@verizon.net

Can you answer this one??
Have an OS 46 AX. Want to add a TME smoke system to it. Will this engine provide enough heat to produce nice smoke effects? Perhaps 1 to 2 ounces of oil per min, I was thinking. I plan on using a preheater and Super Dri smoke oil. Any information you can provide will be appreciated. [:D] Thanks in advance,

RE: HeliMax Axe CP purchase!!!!!!
tgwolf, Yep, the AXE cp right now is good. With a brushless set-up will make it even better. Heli-Max will probably offer an upgrade, sometime in the future. Good luck to you as well. [:D]

RE: HeliMax Axe CP purchase!!!!!!
tgwolf, My feeling is that if one is flying the AXE for say 5 or 6 mins, the motor probably won't heat up a great deal more (already up to operating temp). Well, to play it safe, I suppose I could limit my flight to 10 or 12 mins.[:)] The main and tail motor should last quite some time. Was speaking with a Heli-Max support technician about this. What I am going to do is price around and look for a bargain in the same motor class and have a couple spares around when they are needed in the future. [;)] Again, for the price of the whole set-up, it cannot be beat.

RE: HeliMax Axe CP purchase!!!!!!
The AXE CP is a great flyer. Am getting only about 6 mins out of the supplied NIMH pack. The idle-up switch is great and provides great stability and responsiveness. Am upgrading to an Electrifly 3s 20C 1500mah pack. It's just about the same weight as the NIMH pack (less than a 1/2 ounce heavier) and probably will fly this heli for over 20 mins, in my opinion. Since the lipo pack is pysically longer, I put a super-light, extended piece of balsa on the bottom skids, forming a platform. The battery will then rest on the balsa platform. This way the batter is not only be easier to swap out, but also will not upset the correct CG. Should be a perfect match...... Happy Flying

RE: HeliMax Axe CP purchase!!!!!!
yep, It is really a slick design for sure. Am very please will the AXE CP. Most impressed with how well the tail holds in a hover. The Blade CP kept drifting from what I read, but the AXE CP is solid. Heli-Max has a winner here.
