RE: Pictures of Rigging?
I have 2 Star 45s. One has simple screw eyes for rigging. You can use chain plates to replace the screw eye for the side shrouds and jib pivot point. I use aluminum angle from the hardware store. Cut it down and drill a series of holes. Here are a few sites that may help. http://star-45.blogspot.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Star45/ http://www.okanaganmodelsailboat.org/Index1.html http://www.midwestmodelyachting.com/products/kdh/cKDH07.html

RE: Boat Identification Help????
Most sailboats are rigged similiar. Look at the manuals for some of the sailboats from Kyosho here http://www.kyosho.com/eng/support/instructionmanual/racing_yacht/racing_yacht_index.html From your pictures it looks like the front sail ( jib ) bottom pivot point is wrong. I think the aluminum boom at the bottom of that sail is flipped end to end Post some closer photos of the rigging near the deck.

RE: pro boat sanibel question?
The transmitter does have a ratcheting throttle channel (sail control). I found my 2 Sanibels on Ebay -- ones that were sold with "problems" --- great deal for around $100 each. They both leaked when I got them. 1 took on about a pint of water the 1st time. These are the mods I have done so far. 1. Removed the deck rails and sealed the holes with a 1/4 inch wide white vinyl tape. 2. Connected a push rod to the switch and extended into cockpit to allow on/off without removing the hatch. I did have to mount the switch more secure than doubleside tape. 3. Sealed the radio gear hatch with tape. I do open this at the end of a day sailing to let any water dry out and charge the battery. 4. Replaced rear hatch with clear one to see any water. 5. Put a small hole on rear of deck as drain hole. I cover this with tape when sailing. 6. I cut out the bottom of the battery tray to allow a 5 cell nimh rechargeable to hang down. The whole tray is not stuck very well and comes out easy. I glued part of a heavy duty zip lock bag on the bottom of the tray to seal the hole I cut for the battery 7. Replaced the jib boom pivot line with a fish rig ball swivel I have sailed in high wind and submarined several times with no water getting in.

RE: Trouble shooting receiver glitch
Some of Hitec's servos require a Y cable to bypass the receiver and connect the battery directly to the servo. This is the explanation from a Hitec manual. The Hitec AM, model HAS-02MB, HAS-03MB and HP-2RNB receivers are built with a BEC or battery eliminator circuit built into the battery port of the receiver. This will limit the amount of power some of the larger servos can draw from the receiver. It is suggested that using these receivers with large power consumption servos like the HS-805BB, HS-815BB or the high end, premium coreless motor servos and digital servos, a "Y" harness be used to connect the receiver battery / switch harness and servo to the receiver. Typically this is done by connecting one of the upper "Y" connectors to the servo, the other upper connector to the switch harness and the lower "Y" connector into receiver port 1,2 or 3, depending on what channel you wish the servo to operate. This will allow the BEC to be bypassed, your large servo will always have power and the rest of the servos and the receiver will be powered from the port you plug the "Y" into. The complete manual is at http://www.hitecrcd.com/Support/Manuals/ServoManual.pdf

RE: attention nirvana owners- help!
There is a Yahoo group for Nirvana owners. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nirvanasailing/ I found this link about water in the boat. Looks like you can remove water through the hole in the bottom of the radio box. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nirvanasailing/message/48?threaded=1&var=1&p=3 I do not have a Nirvana but have had to add drain holes to some of my other sailboats. I put a small hole in the bow or stern deck where I can seal it with tape.

RE: GWS S125 sail servo junk? mine is!
I hope they are not junk. I bought 2 on ebay to rebuild a couple of Fairwinds. I have the 1st one installed and working fine. The 180 motion let me rig for a 2:1 mech advantage and seems stronger than the original 90deg servo. I had it out in some knock down wind last week and it was not overpowered. Not bad for $20 including shipping. Time will tell how they hold up.

RE: RC Laser?
You can have a lot of fun with a pair of Lasers. They are great if you want to pull them out of the box and start sailing. The laser is very easy to rig. Get the carrying case to make it easy to transport. With 2 of any sailboat you can be competitive. I bought one on ebay with a couple of parts missing ( keel and rudder ). Parts were easy to buy from the US supplier. I have found no problems with original equipment servos or radio. Not really cons but ... The single sail design does not let you sail as close to the wind as with a jib. But on a reach the Laser will plane and really go. If you launch from a dock you can not pick up the Laser by the mast. It comes right out. I took a broomstick and added a hook to grab the boat by the top of the keel. If you sail in a pond with lots of weeds the long keel may be a problem. Good luck and have fun!
