RCSoup.com
I didn't see anywhere else fitting to put this, so mods if it needs to be moved please do so with my apologies. I and a few friends run RCsoup.com We do reviews, show you tips, whatever comes up really. Everything we can think of with RC cars/trucks. Tamiya USA donated a CR-01 for us to build/review. At the end, we'll be raffling it off. The proceeds from the raffle will be going to the Children's Miracle Network. A few others have joined in on the fun, you can get more details on our site. Today I'm writing to ask you to "like" us on Facebook. We use Facebook and Twitter to get our posts out in the open. We will be posting information as the build progresses and the review is done on the CR-01. as well as the details of the raffle. We want as many people to see it as possible, as this is a very worthwhile charity. To entice you a little more to be our friend on facebook, we're offering a giveaway for our Facebook fans. On July 15th, we'll be randomly selecting one of our fans to win a care package from Cow RC. Venom lipo harness
Anyone know if Venom sells the charging harness with balance plug separately from a battery? My balance plug no longer works. This is for a 2S 5000 MAH hardcase top port.
ORIGINAL: B192734 What's up everyone? I picked up a Slash 4x4 not long ago, and it's great. Absolute blast. I was wondering though, since (like everyone else...) I like to tinker, what should be the first upgrades that people normally do to these? Thanks, and everyone have a great rest of their day!
alot of people say to do the rpm arms, but i say hold off until you break the stock ones. cant ever go wrong with a good set of wheels and tires though

RE: The Evader Coalition ~ T.E.C.
ORIGINAL: mc4798 Like Airmayle said....Just gonna have to remember if he just started racing things are going to break. But will get better as he improves his driving. The evader is a MUCH better truck than the circus truck. No comparison, not even close.
i have one of each. one electrix circuit and one evader. my older son drives the electrix. whether one is better than the other is a subjective opinion. what i can say is the electrix hasn't broken once. nothing. he hits stuff just as hard. the only damage to speak of is a cracked body, which we taped. when the body won't stay on we'll get a new one. but hes wrecked quite a few times and you just flip it over and it keeps going. smacks the wall, smacks other trucks. just keeps going. I do notice that the arms and chassis are more flexible on the circuit. not great for performance, but great for durability. also the tie rods are one piece, plastic. very flexible. again, not great for performance, but when he smacks a wall the thing just bounces off and keeps going. every evader at my track pops ball cups, every race there is at least one. and every week i'm wrenching on my son's evader so he can make the next heat. i'm lucky my own stuff isn't breaking, i wouldn't have time in between to fix both (i run an SC10 and a losi mini late model converted to EDM)

RE: The Evader Coalition ~ T.E.C.
i almost wish they had a rubber one. I know flexible parts means less performance, but at this rate i'd rather have the chassis flex when he gets hit or hits something then have it break every race.

RE: The Evader Coalition ~ T.E.C.
i put a bumper on it the last time after the bulkhead. i think that's why the chassis broke, the bulkhead was too strong with the longer, bigger screws. i'm going to fix it, but i truly think its going to go up for sale. its not the $$ on the parts, its the fact that when he breaks hes out for the rest of the day. yea if he breaks a ball cup i can throw a new one on, but the bulkhead and chassis? cant fix that in between heats. anybody wanna buy it? $60 plus shipping, i'll include the radio, just no battery. i'll sell it for $45 plus shipping as is, with the broken chassis.

RE: The Evader Coalition ~ T.E.C.
so i got my son an EXT 2 for Xmas. We race them indoors every week. i got it because of all of the fans of this platform. I don't know if I got a lemon or what, but this thing breaks every week. Granted he does hit some stuff, and other people hit him, but this is getting nuts. Here's a list of parts so far that he's gone through. I'm thinking of getting rid of it actually with what broke today. Duratrax has the stress tech thing, but for the cost of the parts it doesn't make sense to mail the broken ones. anywho, here's what he's broken- ball cups bulkhead upper chassis brace lower shock mount chassis these were all separate incidents. First it was the ball cups, on his first day, first race. then the next week it was the lower shock mount. two weeks ago was the bulkhead and the upper chassis brace. then today was a bulkhead, and the chassis. where the chassis broke is those little hoops that the pin goes through to hold the bulkhead on. am i missing something? like i said he's hit some stuff, but some of the other kids have those electric circuits, and they hit stuff way harder and they don't break. at this point, i'd almost like to sell this and get him one of those.

4wd- more traction. in order to have the same motor, you're talking VXL. the 2wd with the VXL has to be feathered off the line to get traction. I'm going to do a STRC chassis conversion on my Slash. The reason its relevant to this thread is you use the rustler chassis lower chassis, the upper chassis and the battery hold down. I tried asking a couple of days ago, but I need to know if the battery compartment on the Rustler will hold the Traxxas 7 cell Nimh flat packs? Also, anyone ever try to use an 8 cell hump pack? I'm just wondering if they fit in the compartment. Thanks!

RE: Upgrading the Slash- Pro-Trac or STRC CG kit
ORIGINAL: mc4798 STRC makes good parts, Keep in mind that kits makes the slash a better racer so I wouldnt be jumping over roof tops with it but should hold up to general bashing very well. I would get the STRC kit and pro-line shocks. Seen a few this weekend with that setup and they had no issue hanging with the other trucks.
I have the Traxxas big bores on it now. They made a huge difference. This truck I only use to race, so I won't be beating it too horribly. I have another truck that I use for bashing. it didn't start out that way, but everyone who's been bitten knows how quickly your stable grows.

The CG way is a little cheaper too. The STRC kit is $40, then the Rustler parts I need are about $20. The Protrac kit is 54, but I would need to buy tires too, which are another 60 if I go with bow ties. Any experience with the CG kit. Any idea how it hld up to abuse?
