Upper main bearing stabilizer
I designed and built high speed (up to 100K rpm) powere, surgical instruments for many years. We always used a wave washer against the inner or outer race on ball bearings. This keeps the bearing loaded to one side and eliminates any vibration when the bearing is just radially loaded. I notice that none of my helis, 250, 350, 400 and 450 use a wave washer on the top bearing to eliminate vibration. It is a simple thing to do and most bearing or bolt stores would carry wave washers used for this purpose. The bottom bearing does not need anything as it gets fully loaded as lift occurs. Here are the springs I am talking about carried by Mcmaster-Carr: http://www.mcmaster.com/#disc-springs/=8pfghg The washer would go between the inner bearing race and the main shaft lock ring above the top bearing. Has anyone tried this before or does anyone know why they are not used routinely by the manufacturers?

RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
ORIGINAL: joizeex man, i wish i could convince my friends to get those Dragon elites, that price is sizzling hot lol. i've been trying to "recruit" more people into this hobby (or any RC for that matter) to no avail. they only like to watch lol. one of them is building his "garage" and not a "hangar" right now, so i doubt he'll bite. i'll try. for $80 an adjustable head would be great. So in your honest opinion, adjustability aside, do you think the Sonix for HBK is better than plastic Dragonus head or no? Is RCER, the manufacturer of the Dragonus? Also, I've seen stock Dragonus parts online here and there (HeliDirect too), so that doesn't seem an issue. What about Sonix? cncheli.com doesn't have parts listed for the HBK head, but it has them listed for the 450 head? i'm guessing they're the same? do you stock any that are not listed on your site? i have yet to break stock HBK head because i haven't been upside down in the dirt yet lol, but i would like to know what the support logistics are like. thanks again, man!
Joizeex, I have the Sonix head and am very pleased with the feel and quality. As for parts Jeff, linked me to this page: http://www.cnchelicopter.com/servlet/the-CNC-450-helicopter-cln-E)-special-upgrade/Categories http://www.cnchelicopter.com/servlet/the-CNC-450-helicopter-cln-E%29-special-upgrade/Categories I have not put much time on the head as I have been programing my new Dx6i and AR6100. However, I have run into a problem and maybe someone has had this happen and knows a fix. I found the motor shaft and main shaft became misaligned. The frame seems to have distorted. It is plastic so I guess over time this can happen. I was going through main gears like crazy and could not figure out why. I made a tool that squares up the shafts and then used shims under the motor to keep the alignment. I am not happy with this solution but short of going to an aluminum or carbon frame has anyone found another method to keep the frame square? I did find this but it seems to just be a frame stiffener and does not look like it will square things up. http://www.boomtownhobbies.com/Xtreme_Frame_Stiffener_King_2_p/esk008.htm Any thoughts? Thanks, Harry

RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
Thanks Dave, I appreciate your input. I had forgotten about the problems that Rusty had pointed out for the HBKIII radio stuff so have taken that off my list. I am checking out the Walkera but have not given up hope on the Spektrum or Futaba. It seems that both camps are happy with these radios. I did get the knock off G401B gyro and it works excellent. I agree that the Futaba G401 is a bit pricey. I am not in a rush. Maybe a stimulus check will come my way.[:D] Harry

RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
Joizeex, Thanks for reminding me. I believe you are correct that Rusty mentioned a lot of problems. I will check out the Walkera and keep looking. I think the problem is a renovated fire station about two blocks from me. Either they are racing RC cars in the back lot or have some sort of communications that throws out the disturbance.

RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
I am going to have to make the move to 2.4 if I want to fly three of my birds. I cannot get around the interference on the 72 channel no matter what I try. My single 2.4 CX2 has no problems. So, my question is has anyone tried this combo? It is about half the price of the Futaba and Spektrum but obviously not as many bells and whistles and is pretty restricted to the HBKII. Just looking at all options. My first choice would be the Futaba but man, $200 bucks is quite a hit. This combo is only $89. http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id=C1746907&pid=C2220002

RE: CX2 servo linkage
Thanks, I will check out some of the upgrades. It just bumms me out that you spend nearly $200 on a new heli that works but needs to have another $200 in aftermarket stuff to make it work like you want. I may just leave mine stock and put the servo links back as delivered.

RE: CX2 servo linkage
Thanks Dopesick. Did the blade clipping actually work? The flybar fix sounds good but the extended shaft seems that would put additional leverage and stress on the lower framework during a crash. Definitely a fun bird to fly. Thanks for getting back to me.

RE: CX2 servo linkage
Hi All, Just looked at this thread. Great information. I used a gift card from Verizon to buy a new CX2 through Amazon. The certificate was restricted to only a couple stores. Not sure why I never got one before they are great fun especially after I demolish my HB King II or wipe out my Walkera. I have a question. I balanced the blades - huge difference and moved my linkages out to the third hole. I fly out doors (Its Santa Barbara, there is only one thing we do indoors[:D]) I have read about the Klack and what causes it so will probably shorten the flybar. However, before I make that move I wondered if anyone has tried to shorten the lower blades a bit, maybe 1/2". That seems like an easier soluton than lengthening the main shaft or shortening the flybar - but maybe not. Anyone try that yet? Thanks,

RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
Hey Rsuty, I also apologize for the late reply and appreciate you getting back to me. I have been trying to get in some wave time as we are coming up on this year's surfing competitions. Your offer for the radio sounds great. But, what I think I will do is put the HBK II on the shelf for a while. I am thinking that with all of the upgrades I have in it that perhaps I should wait and see what happens to the radio/receiver prices. None of my 72 birds will work any longer as there is some major interference close by. I think it may be a nearby fire station that has installed some new equipment after two recent fires, not sure. I have a CX2, 2.4 that will fly with zero insults to the controls, very nice to get back to that situation. The challenge is of course not as great. I will definitely be back on this thread and very much appreciate your input and offer. Hope all of you are experiencing some soft air. Harry

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum
Drobin, maxmax, Thanks, I figured I could just glue it. It does not look like anything is broken but somewhere along the line the two parts are no longer together. Perhaps in production during the lunch break it did not get glued. Also, I have been using the new Gorilla CA glue with good results. It has some sort of "impact" additive to it. Harry

Not Futaba, just the stock Tx and Rx. The crystals can be pulled from the Tx but not the Rx. But I have a feeling there is more involved than just switching a crystal and getting a new Rx.

I keep having problems with my stock, two part swash plate coming apart with minimal strong landings or the occassional crash. I then press them back together but sometimes do not see it until I am up and without controls. Does anyone glue these two parts together? I see no reason to keep them separate as they can only be purshased together. Thanks, Harry
ORIGINAL: 1morecrash Hello. I cant figure this out. I have the 2.4 HBK2. it flyes good . not perfect but good enough where it hovers well and such. with the stock GYRO. I also have a G401B, gyro that I've been trying to make work. with no luck at all, I have the instructions, running a futaba digital tail servo. I have theG401 set for the digital servo. and it works correctly. problem is I get a lot of tail wag when the G401B is installed. but not when the stocker is back on. what do I need for this Gyro.. A new Radio? I hate to spend 200 bucks more on this my first learning Heli. thanks for any help.
I am running the G401B with the stock servo and it works great. One thing you might want to check is the switch needs to set to reverse if yours is on the stock mounting plate, behind the head. On my unit I am running the limit at 100 and the delay at 75 with the DS off. It is rock solid. I have also order and Esky 508 digital servo just to try each. I doubt you need a new radio.

RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
Osterizer, I do agree with you, it is a bit distasteful, they should have named it somthing else. However, I have never used the Futaba gyro or even knew about it. All I learned was reading about this gyro in the discussions. I am a beginner and would never drop $130 for a gyro so getting this one did not cheat Futaba out of anything. This sounded like a good option when my stock unit proved to be dead. If I did not get this I would have purchased a Telebee. I hope Futaba goes after them. Here is another discussion group I found during reading the first discussion: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=956825

RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
Fairnot, I ended up getting the 401 for $36. It seems to work great. I read about it somewhere on the RC Universe forum where a lot of guys tested it and loved it. I only have about 30 minutes on it. http://www.cnchelicopter.com/servlet/the-1403/xmhobbies-digital-gyro-G401B/Detail It is obviously a Chinese knock off but at a fourth the cost something I am willing to try. I am using it with my stock 8g servo and it seems to be working well. I plugged the main lead into Channel 4 and what they call head lock sensor to channel 5.

RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
Tommyjoking, Betapilot, Kelowan: Thanks for the getting back to me and the info. The led on the stock gyro goes through all of the correct twitter then steady boot up. The motor does the three chirps. The servo moves when activated by the tx but does nothing when the heli is moved. I will recheck the connectors but believe they are OK. I plan flying this afternoon and will go through the setup again but it is looking more towards a bad gyro to me. I will start looking at the Telebee and the 401B. The 401 is only $36 but might need a digital servo to work correctly.

RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
I know that we have just been through this but I believe my stock gyro is not working. Everything boots correctly but when I pick up the heli and move it side to side or twist it but the rudder servo does not move. How violently does the heli have to move for the gyro to blip the servo? Not having seen it before I am not sure what to look for. If it is bad I was thinking about trying a 401B gyro that is now available. Any thoughts on that switch? Thanks for everyones help.

RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
Does your gyro start blinking AFTER the start up sequence? I think one or more of your servos is too far to one side or the other. Be sure your servos are centered as well as your controlls (except throttle which you want all the way down). This includes the trimmers.

RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
Osterizer, funflier, Thanks for your input. I sort of thought the assembly I was looking at was one of the counterfeit units. I do have a lot of tools and like to tinker so retapping, cutting screws and making it tight might be fun. However, if I will end up with simple bushings rather than good bearing support than the metal will not be an upgrade - need to think about this. The Eflite swash plate sounds interesting. Somthing has to be changed as although the head is intact it is very, very loose. It is now over a year old, seen a lot of crashes and many parts. Maybe a new heli???

RE: Honeybee King v2 tuner shop
Quick question fellow sky pilots. I just added an Esky 1500, 10C LipO to my HBKII and am getting that BiBi BiBi BiBi alert sound and of course nothing works. The instructions for the brushless ESKY is rather vague with if you hear that sound - "The status is in the mode with break." Don't you just love the translations in these instructions? All was well before the new battery. The "set mode" explanation is also vague and I have tried several accelerator positions on power up. I imagine it is a simple maneuver but cannot find it. Anybody know the solution? I wasted a whole evening of glass off conditions with no flying time because of this minor, what ever. As for the brushless motor question. I have been using the brushless, outrunner, Xtreme 4000 KV, 10T with pretty good action. Thanks,
