I should think the screw holding the tank on is 6BA. Might be easier for Chris to supply that as well as might be hard to find where you are Bill........Unless you have one of course.

RE: Exploded view Webra Record diesel
ORIGINAL: coriolan Can't help you with an exploded view, but here are some infos about the Webra "Rekord": http://static.rcgroups.net/forums/attachments/2/8/9/3/5/9/a2918088-52-Scan10003.jpg http://static.rcgroups.net/forums/attachments/2/8/9/3/5/9/a2918089-118-Scan10001.jpg http://static.rcgroups.net/forums/attachments/2/8/9/3/5/9/a2918090-77-Scan10002.jpg There was 3 versions of that model over the years: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=13752291&postcount=580 Being in europe it shouln't be too hard to find parts for it as it was produced in large number in the 50's and 60's!
There are in fact four (4) versions of the 1.5 Webra Rekord. First in 1952 with a blue head and radial mount only. Second in 1954 with a red head and both radial and beam mounts.......You need to file away part of the radial mount to use the beam mounts. Pic of that one on this thread. Third in 1959 with a red head and beam mount only. Pic of that one on this thread. It calls it 1956, but that's incorrect. Fourth one in 1964 with all alloy look......no colour, and beam mount. Until I just contacted my Swedish friend, a Webra officiando, I did not know of the third version, and it saying it was 1956 confused me, as I have had several of the second version. And great motors they are. I have two in Freeflight models here now that start well and run hard.

RE: C S Oliver Tiger 2.5 cc
My CS Tiger is fine. I've had it and used it for 12 years in CL models, so it's got some time up. The only thing I replaced about two years ago was the conrod. The motor got a little clunky on turnover that was in the rod. A friend supplied one and now it's fine. It has good compression and is a one flick starter. As suggested I would strip it, de-burr it inside, and do the crank as suggested in the oven. In the past I have run mine on Oliver fuel.......50% Kero, 30% Ether, 20% Castor with 2% IPN added. They run hard on a 7X7 prop. on this mix. Recently have just been using 1/3 of each fuel plus 2% IPN on a 8 or 9X6 prop.

RE: fuel cans
Use glass bottles with metal screw caps with a seal inside. I've used Brandy, Whisky or Gin bottles for years. Marked where the fuel is to check for any migration out of it.......has always been nil, then store in a cool place. Diesel or glo fuel, makes no difference, and they cost nil after you have used what was inside. I do rinse them in water and let them dry well before fuel goes in.

RE: CS Replica Diesels
ORIGINAL: locktite401 If Amyl Nitrate was so fantastic then why do Vintage Team Race Oliver Tigers go much harder now on IPN than they ever did on AN?
You could ask exactly the same question to the vintage car and motor cycle racers as well........it's all about technology. All these "modern" ones are much much quicker today than they ever were, as per the Oliver's etc.

RE: CS Replica Diesels
ORIGINAL: william hanshaw GCB, After looking closely at your nice pics of the Russian Elfin 149, I think I have one too. I don't know how to tell the difference between the ABC and steel versions, so is there an easy way to tell? And, what fuel mix do you suggest I use, and what break-in prop? I have Aerodyne and DDD standard fuel, and can mix my own if I know the best mix. Although I purchased my first diesel in 1956, it's been many years since I've run them, so I consider myself a diesel newbie! Your comments would be appreciated. I also have acquired a used English DCLtd Spitfire 1cc engine, and have the same questions about props and fuel. Your comments would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. William Hanshaw
Just picked upon this thread, so if I may....... I find the 1cc Spitfire and the 1.5cc Sabre both run well on an 8X4 prop. I mix my own fuel for them at 1/3 each of ether, castor oil and Jet A1 or kerosene, then add 2% DII......diesel ignition improver or IPN. Amyl Nitrate would be nice, but nobody will sell it to us. What a pity. Smells so good too.

RE: Club Mills!
ORIGINAL: william hanshaw Gossie. Thanks for the info. The DC does indeed have a red-anodized head, so I'll assume it's a Sabre 1.5cc as you say. However, its head has the wrench-recess at its top like the picture of the Spitfire in the DC ad I printed from the site... engine though in good condition. Cheers, gossie in OZ.

RE: Club Mills!
Your DC if it has a red head is more than likely a 1.5cc/09 Sabre. If it's blue it's a 1cc Spitfire. The baby of them is a .75cc Merlin.....can be plain alloy, red or green heads. All are "sports"type motors but in good condition run well. I have a 2 Sabres and one is in a 64in span Mercury Aeronca that's flies freefight. 8x4 prop., 1/3 of each fuel and it pulls it up high. 1cc Spitfire is in a Smeed Madcap with single channel rudder to keep it close in the park...........also goes well. Back to Mills, I have 4 original .75s all in FF models, plus a real 1.3 with the original RC carb on it in a FF biplane......it's still tight and needs more running. An Indian 1.3 in a FF Little Vagabond that is a beauty......first flick starts and runs hard. Has no tank though.....any body got one please????

I rather like the 2.5 and the good condition 1.5. The pair would cost us about 250 OZ money.

RE: Fuel Mix for Aurora .75 Mills Replica
You might need more ether and a large prop. to get the little one going for the first time. Try 40% ether, 30% castor, 30% kero and a 7X4 prop. to get some flywheel effect. Good luck. Let's know how you go.

RE: Fuel Mix for Aurora .75 Mills Replica
I run all my old Mills engines, and I have a few of them on 1/3 kero, 1/3 castor oil, 1/3 ether. Add 2% DII or whatever you can get to the mix. They will start and run well without the DII though. I went for a fly this morning with an old Mills.75 and an old Webra Rekord 1.5, and they love this mix. I did have a "hot" mix for the Webra but never bothered using it.

RE: Deezil model Engines (again)
I'm also amazed at the interest in these engines when it seems they are so bad. I wonder how many were made? They sure were low cost though in dollar terms. Without looking up my old mags here I think they were about $2.95????? I'm yet to see a real one, and that sounds like a good thing. As said, Gordon's replica of it is truly a superb engine. Mines in a Freeflight Goldberg Interceptor. It starts and runs like a dream.

RE: Flooding disaster in Australia to all
We are also about 100k-60miles south of Brisbane and all okay, but it really is disaster up there with 17 people dead at this stage and thousands upon thousands of home, crop and stock losses. A massive clean up will be in full swing for a long time. Our Daughter is in retail on the Gold Coast and the suppliers are mostly in Brisbane so they can't replenish their stock (electrical goods) for some time. Also food places inc. McDonalds have closed as well as they can't get stock. This will make our fresh food probably more than tripple in price as much of the fruit and vegetables come from up this way for all over Australia. It's down south in Australia as well, and the west 2000 miles away has had bush fires. All bad news indeed.

RE: Do you use after run oil on your diesels?
After use of either diesel's or glo's I have for years 'hosed' them out with WD40-CRC or similar then oiled them up well with motor oil. At the moment I'm using a TC3 oil that's a 2 stroke oil used in 'stroker' PWC (Jetski's) because I've gone 4 stroke PWC and have some TCW3 over from the 'old' days. Never had a problem, and some of my many engines only get a run now and then.

I had the crank pin break off when I put a diesel head on a Tee Dee .049 in the '70s. It was not overcompressed either and never had been over a dozen short runs in a FF scale model.............
