The braided cable completes the DC circuit back to the ign. box after the spark jumps the gap... touching the motor has no effect.. G

RE: ys175
Stay with Glow if you are new to YS .. Ignition works well but you need to know what your doing to keep it running at optimum performance its not for the newbie. Gain experience then go with the ignition if you like.. Find someone to learn from locally if you can. Gary

RE: Electric Vs Engine.
Most common mistake I see that people are doing with Glow (YS) is they don't know how to leave the thing alone. It does not take a 170 or 175 peeked to the N'th degree to get through these patterns. Get them set and leave them alone.. A properly tuned YS should get 8 to 12 cases of fuel before needing a rebuild. Gary

Using Ni-metal batteries (RX) in a pattern ship ( digital servos) is like playing Russian roulette. LION with a regulator will serve u better. sorry for the loss G

RE: YS 170 DZ CDI
The Barrel is not warped .. pull the barrel and look for a rub you may or may not find one. then get some 2000 sand paper roll it and sand the inside of the carb where the barrell fits.( lightly) clean the barrel, that red stuff you see on it will build up and cause sticking also.. This happens when it gets as hot as its been. Also look in the groove where the throttle stop screw goes some times the threads from the screw will dig into the barrel causing it to stick on the low idle. or give me a call u got my number G

RE: MK Aurora 60 build - engine installation question
12x8 will over rev the motor .. The Hanno is designed to run at around 9600rpms on a 12x12.. this motor because of the porting produces max power at that rpm.. If you over rev you could quiken the flacking of the liner these motors are known for or possibly break a rod. I would run rich on the needle a click or 3 and go no lower than a 12x11. Gary

RE: R/C Aerobatics Contest Board Initital Vote
I see it differently if you are a" serious" NATS competitor you will make weight and all other rules that pertain ... period.. If you do not then you are not. Period.. No rule or penalty will concern you... The rules as they are are attainable it has been proved over and over year in and year out.. YAWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gary

Put the needle bak in and use a pin punch and ding around the injector.. JB weld will work also but the thing about JB weld is its brittle and I have seen the needle come back out before due to the JB weld cracking. either should work Gary

RE: NSRCA Candidate Rules Proposal Survey is available
scott Being disagreed with ( albeit adamantly) and hated are a far cry apart. Passion for the hobby and pattern= passionate responses A grain of salt is in order for my comments anyway. Tony I cracked the wing in a down line pull out on the xlt and repaired it, still flying .. me thinks a bit to light in some places . Although I saw Ryan Mclaughlin (sp) fly P7 with it quite well..LOL. g
