RE: newbie seeks help and advise
ORIGINAL: SCOTT42 Thank you guys for the info. My first question is would the be a spot on the frame of the heli that would ID the modle it is? Allso where would i find the black paddles? Ive looked at tower hobby but didnt see them. Is there any other place to buy parts? I picked me up a blade 400 today, got it off of craigslist, got the heli, dx5e, a MCX2 plus a box full of parts for 100.00
There is nothing stamped on the frame, it's just a R60 looks nothing like a R30 or R50. The difference between the R30 and a R50 is blade length, and boom length and gear ratio and of course engine size and maybe tail rotor blades, can't remember. A R50 will have 600mm blades and R30 will have 550mm blades. You have an nice machine there!

RE: newbie seeks help and advise
It looks like a R50 or R30 frame to me (even better if it is). I think the lighter green paddles will make it to twitchy for a newby, they are mostly for 3D and such, I would swap them with the regular black ones. Good lookin' machine though!

RC Aerodyne, confused about which size.
I have been thinking about a scale fuse for my Raptor 30 just not sure which one, 500, 600. Maybe none of these will work, I understand putting a scale fuse on a Raptor 30 can be tricky?

I recently dug my heli out of the moth balls and it needs new blades, I have been away from rc helis for a while and and not really up to speed on all the newest products

Digging up my old TC3, need help with dumb question.
Is a TC3 Team car a 180mm chassis? If so does that mean I need a 5mm offset wheel to properly fit a 200mm body? I remember a had an HPI 200mm body and it seemed to wide for the chassis. I have not ran this car in about 10 years and it seems all my knowledge is long gone. Will the retro looking HPI wheels fit the TC3?

I'm going to subscribe to this thread beacuse I have to have a TC3 that I want to turn into a drifter. I have been away for a while as well, so long in fact transmitters had long shinny rods sticking out of the top of them and recievers had a 3 foot wire.

RE: TC3 Top Speed Build Log.
Question for you TC3 guys. I have one I assembled from a kit when they first came out, it's not the team car with all the blue parts but not the RTR either. I'm setting it back up and need tires, body and electronics. I want to buy a body but seems like most I see are 200mm, I'm thinking my kit car was 180mm?? I know what drifting is but what exactly are drifting tires?

Advise on clutch shoes for my Savage??
I ran my Savage 25 yesterday for the first time in about year and a half. It needs new clutch shoes but not sure what to get, I have been away from my RC hobbies and have forgoten even some of the very basics. I know the ones I have are cheep aluminum ones and I have never been happy with the way the truck launches at the start. What is a good clutch that will grab out of the hole for wheelies

RE: beginner heli pilot
The main thing is you get something you can buy parts for like the Raptor and Hawk mentioned above. Some of the older models you come across may seem like a good deal but if you can't get parts you may come up short. I have a Raptor 30V2 and love it, my buddy has a Hawk 30 and it is a smooth flyer as well, can't go wrong with either.

OS .37 problem
I recently installed a new OS .37 in my Raptor 30, the break in and test flights went fine with no overheating. The other day I passes the TX to my son to get the feel of the new set up when all of a sudden the engine started bogging and stopped about 2 feet off the ground. Like a dummy I started trying to tweek the needles and of course that is not the problem, it does seem it idle and start OK. Tonight I tried a fresh jug of fuel with no improvements so I removed the fuel tank to check the pick up line, main line, filter and dissassembled the carb to check for blockage, no problems were found. I checked the OS #8 plug, it is very clean with a bright coil, I have not changes it yet. I have another problem, I cant find my box with instruction book to get my needles back to baseline, I think I left it on the bumber of my truck...DANG IT! If I get my needles back to factory settings, change the plug and it doesn't help, what can I try next? It got dark on mt tonight so I had to stop. Thank you for your time! David

I have one I built 15 years ago that I put a Saito 40 on, I had to move the fire wall back a bit to accomdate the carb and extra length of the 4 stroke case. I think this kit would be great electric powered also.

I would suggest a profile for a 46 size 3D plane. Morris the Knife is one of my all time favorite rc planes, floats like a butterfly, very slow flyer and easy to maintain.

Exactly what kind of silk and dope did you use? I have one I built 19 years ago that I still fly regularly that is covered with Monokote but have another kit I plan to build that will be silk and dope and powered with brushless electric and li-Pos. Love nitro powered airplanes but sooner or later the fuel will mess up a nice model.
