Eventually on my to do list of boats is the USS Cairo. There is something about that City class of boats that I like. I've been down to Mound City, Illinois where they were built.

RE: New builder
Even reduced down 2.5:1 it has enough power to swamp the fore deck. I don't run it that fast but with it being about 50 pounds, I'd rather have the extra power available for emergency manuvers. During our regattas some people have a hard time seeing an all black boat so low in the water. The main deck only sits about 5/8" above the water line.

RE: New builder
Thanks for the compliment, I'm sure yours will come out good. I was starting to loose my mind trying to find the rivets until I came across a gal who was able to order them for me in bulk. The motors, belts and pulleys were all salvaged from copy machines. Since the motors were 24 volt, I re-wound them for 12 volts. Some may think I'm insane but they were 7 pole ball bearing motors.

And for a little more drooling, I used over 5000 rivets in this boat, 500 in the stack alone.

Jonathan, Clip on over to my gallery and open up the C.S.S. Abemarle pictures http://www.rcuniverse.com/community/profile.cfm?section=gallery&memid=185556 She was built in 32'nd scale and comes in at 60" long. Plank on frame construction with epoxy/glass over wood. There are plans in the future for a black powder cannon. Here are a few more pictures. http://www.stlouisadmirals.com/images/fleet/fleet-023.jpg http://www.stlouisadmirals.com/images/fleet/fleet-024.jpg http://www.stlouisadmirals.com/images/fleet/fleet-022.jpg She sails like a dream, low and slow.

The sub is still in the lake somewhere. We believe it to be in the area of/under that little pavilion area where the pay R/C boats are.

RE: Can anyone identify this boat?
A-37, Thank you, it works like a charm. Ohm1163058, That .25 sized engine will make that thing scoot. The original hull was designed as a gas boat for a .10 sized engine. The name of the gas boat escapes me right now. It wasn't till later Dumas came up with the cabin and turned it into an amusement park boat. You hull is an actual Mucho Macho just that it is missing the cabin.

RE: Can anyone identify this boat?
been bitten by the scale crawler bug. I check back here now and then. The Green Boat over it's... there are 2-6V3A SLA's, one on either side. The reason for this was to add an interior to the boat which... include an outboard motor and a jet drive equiped boat. If I could find an inboard/outboard drive real... it into a fire/rescue boat with a set of flashing cherries on top.

RE: Can anyone identify this boat?
I know, I know, I know.......... The blue metallic flake boat was made Dumas back in the late 70's, it was called the Mucho Macho. They were made for use in amusement parks for the kiddies to play with. There were two versions, one had a single screw with a rudder and the other was twin screw... and then. Check out "My Gallery" here on RCU and see my "Green Boat". A Dumas

RE: landing craft size
Hmmmmm..... a HL summer. Me thinks a trip to the hardware store for some plywood and rigid foam is in order. I was going to build a 1/6'th scale tank but some how gave up on it. I've got two Amtek motors, two 90 degree gear drives and a whole bunch of stainless steel beverage conveyer chain for the tracks collecting dust.

RE: new find looking for info
It is a Maine Lobster Boat with an open transom, you can find them either way. The one you have was more than likely used for racing. Yes, they do race them and they go fast. There is a gentleman that builds them in fiberglass up in Maine just for racing. As for colors they are painted all kinds. Look for harbor photos for some ideas. I will try and dig thru my stuff and see if I can find him.

RE: Replacement Prop
I believe that there were two manufactures of the Atlantio 059. One was Kyosho and the other was a cheapy out of China. If it is made by Kyosho then you might have a chance of getting a new one. Otherwise measure the diameter and shaft size and how it mounts onto the shaft and try and find a suitable replacement.
