RE: Miss Geico 29 Catamaran
Just received my Miss Geico today, the thing looks awesome and I can't wait to get it into the water this weekend when we go camping. My only problem is that the ESC is programmed for only Ni-Mh and all I have is LiPo's and the program cards are all on back order. Anybody know what can happen if I run the ESC as programmed with the LiPo's, as far as I know I just have to be careful not to run the LiPo's too low?

RE: Savage won't shift to 2nd
I'll check how tight the slipper is, the spring isn't fully compressed so it may not be as tight as it should

RE: Savage won't shift to 2nd
I've had the truck since new, ran great for years, then all of a sudden wouldn't shift so I lost interest because I couldn't figure it out. Started to play with it again recently and decided to upgrade the motor. You are correct had the same issue with both motors and both tranny's. I feel it is tuned pretty well. Did the break in like manual says through 4-5 tanks of fuel. When full open throttle it sounds like it wants to take off and is really high RPM"s but isn't moving very fast. I really have to think that it is in first and not shifting, when it had the .21 in it was fast in 2nd and I could easily tell when it shifted, not it is slow with a much bigger motor. This tranny part that holds the shift pawl, is that something that I install or comes installed from HPI, not exactly sure what that part is.

Savage won't shift to 2nd
I have a Savage .21 that wouldn't shift second, so I played with the 2 speed transmission with no result. I went out and bought a new Mach .28 Dynamite motor thinking the motor was going bad in the original .21. Got through break in and still no shift to second. So I bought a new 2 speed transmission from a .25 or XL. Still no shift to second and I can tell the motor is winding out and wants too. I then bought a new 3 shoe clutch bell thinking something was slipping, same issue. Then bought a new steel spur gear / slipper clutch and still no 2nd gear. I am adjusting the bottom screw on the inside of the transmission, screwing all the way out and back in trying to get it to shift and no luck. Please help,

RE: Trex 450 CLONE WARS
Can anybody suggest the best setup videos? I've been watching the Mikey's RC "Cheapest 450 Clone Build" videos from youtube, there is about 15 in the series and seems to be pretty good. Just wondering if there is anything else out there better?

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Well, just got back from my LHS where I bought my truck. The cap on the end of the motor where the shaft comes out of that I said was loose and I couldn't figure out how it mounted to the motor, well it's supposed to screw to the motor can. Mine was completely stripped out. The LHS said they had never seen that before. Four days with the truck and already sending parts back to HPI to be replaced.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Yeah the magnet seems attached as far as I can tell, doesn't seem to be loose in there at all.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Completely stock, except for different radio and receiver. The plate opposite of the wires is the one that is loose, doesn't seem to be anything that holds that plate to the motor. Hopefully these pictures work. The first is the plate that I'm talking about, the second is plate pulled out and the shaft pulled all the way out, the third is the same as the second and the shaft pushed in.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
I can take the shaft and it moves in and out of the can pretty easily. The plate on the motor opposite the end where the wires come out is loose, there doesn't appear to be anything that holds that to the motor. The part that scares me is that the shaft moves easily in and out of the can, when the motor is attached to the truck, when it moves in it pulls the pinion gear in and the motor makes some weird grinding sounds.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
I tried tightening the bolts on the shaft side first and they were tight, they were the same bolts that that I loosened to take the motor out. There are also 2 set type screws on the end plate of the motor (shaft side) that were in place, but that end plate was very loose, don't know what actually holds that in place?

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Well, I've got my first problem. I ran about 4 batteries through my truck and then during the fifth or so I lost all power but could hear the motor trying to turn. I opened it up and the motor felt loose. The fasteners that hold the motor in place were tight and I could not draw the motor in any tighter. I then checked the gear on the motor shaft (spur I think) and it was tight. I removed the motor and the plate between the motor can and the shaft was loose and it felt like the parts attached to the shaft on the inside of the motor were loose. Anybody have any suggestions, hopefully I was able to explain this well enough. Oh, I have the brushless E-Firestorm

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Just got my eFirstorm yesterday. I've had nitro my last to vehicles and finally got sick of playing with the carb. This thing is awesome, can't believe the power on a completely stock setup. Look forward to hearing suggestions from everyone and doing upgrades.

RE: WHICH FUEL to buy?
I've been running Trinity 20% in my NTC3+ and my Savage 21 and seems to be good. My local hobby shop told me next gallon I purchace to go with 25%, they said I'd get noticably more power and both engines could handle it with no problems and no additional wear.

RE: HPI rs4 RTR 3 Evo vs. Team Associated NTC3 RTR
I was in the same boat a couple of weeks ago, I ended up going with the NTC3 Plus and don't regret it a bit. The thing is almost too fast. I never drove it with the stock radio, I replace the receive with a JR Synthesized one so I could use my XS3 Radio. I can't talk bad about the HPI car though I just know the NTC3 is awesome. All I do is bash in parking lots but from what i can see it's probably race ready. There are also tons or upgrades available for it. I don't think you could go wrong either way both companies are on top of their game and make great cars.

RE: NITRO TC-3 PLUS!!!
I stopped by a park today before work to play with my TC3. I set all the carb settings back to factory and the thing started right up. I can't believe how fast this thing is now, unbelievable.

RE: NITRO TC-3 PLUS!!!
Thanks for the help guys, I'm gonna take my car up north this weekend and hopefully get it tuned right without the restrictor. I'll let you know next week how it went. I probably wont' due aluminum just yet then, I just can't stand having a stock car, I've got to do something different to it. Other than just replacing the reciever. I put the synthesized JR one in so I could use my XS3 on my Savage and TC3. Thanks again for your help guys

RE: NITRO TC-3 PLUS!!!
Hey guys, my first time to this forum, I picked up the NTC3+ about a week ago, actually my wife got it for me for my birthday. The thing is awesome, I can't believe how fast it is. I was extremely dissappointed in my Savage after driving the TC3, I always thought the Savage was so fast. I pulled the restrictor off today but couldn't get it started up again. What all do you need to do, I know someone said mess with the throttle linkage, but which way do they need to go, and what about the high and low speed needles, do they need too be adjusted, I would guess richen them? Also one last thing, what do you guys think about aluminum? I've done my savage in mostly aluminum parts and love the way it looks. How is aluminum on the TC3, good idea or bad? This forum is by far the best I've seen for the NTC3+, you guys are great and will be hearing from me a lot. Thanks
