RE: Brushed to brushless conversion...Unsure.
what type of plane are ya building.. the common calculations call for 100 watts per pound for trainerish ,150 or more for better performance..but really you'll need to kinda narrow it down cause there are lots of combos that'll work.. SLOPE FAST - SOAR DEEP guamflyer

RE: Returning to flying..electric this time
The best I can tell you is that the mah will pretty much determine your flight times combined with prop..I'd put the g46 in ,get atleast 3200mah to 5000mah with atleast a 20C discharge rate . If you're gonna do high speed or aerobatics then a higher discharge would work... I fly my Dad's kyosho 55- P-40 with a 55 rimfire motor / 60 amp esc..14 X 10 apc prop and two 3 cell 3200 25c traxxas battery packs and we get an Honest 10 minute flight at 7 1/2 lbs..including flaps, retracts, rud, elev and two servos for ailerons..,,i'd run two 3 cell packs though cause the powerr is up there compared to gas..hope this helps bro..

RE: Converting free flight to R/C?
I went and looked at the gremlin to refresh the memory, there's actually alot of stuff that"ll fit..are ya gonna put ailerons or just R/E.. Cool little plane..I've looked at it before.. you could even put one of those really small e-motors to climb then cruise around..great for small hills for small kine sloping,,

RE: Converting free flight to R/C?
What size is the airplane.. I would just cross reference size and use gear that would fit as free-flight was tight for space..probally need to use 9 gram servos and the smallest Rx.. I tried it before but it was windy where I was...need to also do wing loading checks and don't forget decalage / wing incidence.. pretty much all the good stuff to make it fly right...

RE: to AILERON OR NOT TO AILERON
The Bird of time is a very good airplane ..although it was heavy sort-of.. despite that ,it flies so well as a RES and even penetrates 15 to 20 winds.. it would thermal or actually ride winds quite easily.. Ailerons would be cool but its all about preference..post pic when done

RE: your thoughts about how a wing feels in flight
i wondered about if other folks feel the same and I agree that having the right tool for conditions ,area and so on is really the key. each time I design and build a plane I always ask myself the purpose of the aircraft and tailor it to that. but again ,hard wings always offer the best performance in every size. Slopers and thermal pilots are lucky in the sense that we spend more time flying and feeling how an airfoil performs..Thanks for the response wind junkie.. I've been goin all over Guam finding more sites to fly..doin alot of electric but miss slopin and thermalling..on a building binge at the moment..another sloper built and 40" thermals / 60" following quickly after...
