Thanks Mitch, I've been looking for one of these for well over a year now. Glad you finally got enough orders to make it worthwhile.

As Bill said, the cline regulator works. I use it because I have the same issue with the tank position due to the inverted engine. I also use a driver which also helps with the inverted issue. BoB WB# 160

RE: [Awaiting Approval]
I'm almost finished with the landing lights on the waco and I got some good ideas from previous posts, but I'm not quite sure what to do with the housing. Should I cover it with some reflective tape or paint it gray or black? Any ideas? Also, what do I make the clear plastic lens out of? Do I need to make a plug and shape the plastic over it using heat, or can I just use a thin piece of clear plastic and bend it around the leading edge of the wing and hold it in place with screws? RE: [Awaiting Approval]
Thanks for the info. and the pic. I'm building the newer version with the tank cover so I'll just do stitching and taping behind the tank. Since the pica kit doesn't have ribs in the center section, It'll only be for appearance.

RE: [Awaiting Approval]
Hi all, I thought I was finished with the rib stitching and taping on my pica Waco, but while I was looking at one of the completed models on page 1, I noticed what I thought was stitching and taping in the center section behind the gas tank to the trailing edge. This area is sheeted on the waco. Does the full scale version have ribs there?

RE: WACO YMF
Hi all. I'm heavily into the rib stitching and taping on the pica waco at the moment. It's more time consuming than I thought. I'm having trouble finding a close-up of the detail. Do the tail surfaces get the same treatment, including edge taping?

RE: WACO YMF
Well, I've been wrestling with the N-struts on the 1/5 scale pica and I don't think the kit's design is yery good. After coming apart on me several times, I finally doweled them together where they join and that seemed to do the trick, but the way the kit says to attach them to the wing still seems problematic. The set-up doesn't seem very substantial. I've already got the nylon "L" brackets imbedded in the wing and the wing is covered but not painted. I could see myself losing my cool trying to line everything up at the field. There's got to be a better way. Has anyone tried using those snap-in ball joints to attach them? Bob: WB #160

RE: WACO YMF
Hi all, I have a question about the ABS gas tank sheeting in the pica kit. Is the edge raised slightly or does it get sanded off so the sheeting lays flat on the center section. Also, does this addition add to the appearance of the model? I know it's not scale.

RE: WACO YMF
Thanks,John. I guess I made F-45 a little too wide because it only matches the rudder thickness at the very edge. Forward of that, it is wider than V-4. Maybe I can make another fairing between the vert stab and the horizontal stab to help match the shape of F-45.

RE: WACO YMF
On the Pica Waco, where the fuselage meets the trailing edge of the vertical stab, there seems to be a big step. What's the best way to make this a little bit more scale looking? The full size doesn't seem to have this problem. Bob: WB #160

RE: WACO YMF
Well, I finally got the ailerons temporarily hooked up (Pica 1/5) and was trying to set up the throws when I noticed that the upper ailerons had quite a bit more deflection ( almost double at full throw) then the lower ones. I did not see this addressed in the instructions. Is this a problem? If it is, how do I correct it and if it isn't, which aileron do I set at the 1/2" deflection that the instructions call for? It looks like a geometry issue.

RE: WACO YMF
Hi Bill, I know what you mean about the plug going cold. I mounted the engine in my Waco (OS120) inverted so I could use a pitts style muffler and thought a driver would be a good idea. I bought the intelligent one from Nelson. It supposedly senses the resistance of the plug (which apparently changes when the plug goes out) and fires the plug regardless of throttle position. Don't know how well it will work cause the plane is still in the building stage. Anyone have any experience with these? Bob

Hi, I'm building a 1/5 scale pica Waco ymf-3 and I'm having trouble finding info and close-up pics of of the rib stitching and taping on the wings and tail feathers. From what I could see, it looks like the tape edges are not pinked. Any help would be appreciated.
