RE: Lipo
A $200 budget will buy one of these chargers. http://www.progressiverc.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=1&Itemid=18

RE: Cheap way to match lots of cells?
Right, it is very tedious work and involes far more labor than the cells are worth. It also doesn't take into account the self-discharge rate of the cells (unless you do many more tests) The maha 9000 or bc 900 is the best thng going for doing them anyways. One thing I've done to save time is to charge a large batch of them in series and then pull a certain minimum amount of capacity from them in series. After that they can be discharged the rest of the way individually and the two figures added together. It makes it somewhat more complex though with a lot of writing.

RE: please respond
Both would work, but I doubt either one would go 25 mph. It would be very close though with 7 cells and high gearing.

RE: computer power supply for a triton charger?
Yes, it will work. The older supplies may need the 5 volt rail loaded to produce power on the 12 volt rail. Most just turn it on and try it. If a load is required then many use resistors or light bulbs.

RE: offer
http://www.rcuniverse.com/community/profile.cfm?section=profile&memid=28651 John is the marketplace mod and very good. Please pm him the add number or the seller and he'll be able to respond to you. My take is that the market is set up so that the seller can reject any offer for any reason. I'm not sure about which add it is, but reading between the lines seems to indicate that the seller thinks he can get more money out of the item after viewing your offer. Unfortunately you may have to pass the higher price up. It does leave a bad taste in mouth for sure. Perhaps there was another reason? Hope it works out for the best.

RE: NiMh Dead???
Maybe it is already full or it is operating on the bottom or top third of it's capacity. It is unlikely that it is operating on the middle of it's capacity. There's probably nothing wrong with the cell itself.

Oh, my bad, I missed that. Probe the center tabs then to get a reading. Do it once, if it's fine then can forget it for a long time.

RE: Lipo concerns...
The balance would need to be checked to see if it needs done. They could be pefectly balanced at 4.215 each or they could be way off. To check them probe each individual cell. Pins 1 and 2 , pins 2 and 3.

RE: battery charge time ?
Hi, and welcome to RCU. It will depend on the charger's rate (current or amps) If the charger is 500 ma then that delivers 500 mah (per hr) If it happens to be 5 amps then that is 5000 mah (per hr)

RE: Traxxas Stampede VXL runs slow
Hi, welcome to RCU. It is the low voltage protection on the esc, indicating low battery voltage. It can be turned off if desired.

Or you can leave the capacity (for capacity protection still) and set the rate manually. My elite's at 2 amps 99% of the time.

RE: An ESC that can handle 3s lipo?
The esc is fine with 3S and a brushed motor. The motor life may be in question though. If it's the titan from the e-maxx then 3S is fine, but if it's the titan from the single motor traxxas trucks then 3S is borderlined overspeeding it. If the gearing is kept fairly slow, the motor will probably be ok. If it's geared high then it's possible to ruin it in a run or two.

RE: Charger/Power Supply Question
It may not hurt it , but will probably error. It depends on the actual voltage of the ps while at rest with the charger powered up. I think it'll be too much , I wouldn't chance it unless you don't mind sacrificing a charger to let us all know for sure. [:D]

RE: 30C 5800 vs 5000 ?
I like to think that if the 5000 ran for 5 minutes the 5800 would run for 5.8 minutes. OR if the vehicle was a slower one and the 5000 ran for 50 minutes then the big battery would go for 58 minutes. [:D]

RE: trinity battery's
Why am I not surprised , I see many 3600-4200 packs that are around 3300-3600 actual capacity. For a long time now I have considered 3600 to be the max , although I have come across some legit 4200+ packs as well. It would be nice to verify many of the 5000 mah + packs as well.

RE: Looking for a decent lipo charger
2sx10,000 OR 4sx5000 is the same wattage for a 1 hr charge. It is 84 watts , so you may want to consider a charger with a max power of 100 or so. Triton2 MRC 989

RE: Which type of battery can stay charged the longest
Any of them can be left fully charged. Lipo might have the least self-discharge rate , but will degrade when "stored" full. Nimh has the highest self-discharge rate , but won't hurt it to be stored full. Two possible answers come to mind for this dilema. Get lipos or li-ion that can be charged in 15 minutes or so. Use NImh batts and leave them full, re-peak right before use.

RE: two 3s to 6s lipo adapter???
Yep, you'll need a banana charge lead that connects the two packs in series. Or a EC3 series connector. It simply hooks one packs + to the other pack's - and the remainiong two + and - gop to the charger's output jacks.

RE: ONYX 230 problem
some charger's have an "auto" setting for current and will do an open voltage check on that setting only. This 230 doesn't have that ooption , yet does the check every minute for 5 seconds.
