RE: RANT: The
I bet I have the oldest Hangar 9 plane in need of parts. I have an old Hangar 9 Cessna 40 ARF. They made a red version and a blue version. I have a complete Red Version. I bought a Blue one from a JACK WAGON on Ebay. He had shot it with BB holes and failed to mention it. I need an elevator that I can build, I bought a cowl that will need painted to match, but I have never located the front windshield which has a hole that is impossible to fix. I watch Ebay and RCU for years hoping to find one. Great thread.

I would love to have something like the yellow, blue and red one. Ladislav, may I ask a question? Did the Northstar set you up for life? If that is too personal I understand. I have one myself and I just love it. There are so many around. How did that work out for you?

Beautiful plane. A friend directed me here. Couple of questions, why no cowl on maiden? And, any chance you could give some details on making the glass one once the plug was finished? Again, congrats and well done!

RE: Seaplane pictures
My Elder Bipe was absolutely horrible at the field. So I hung it for 2 years and then had the bright idea to install floats. It went from a lazy field flyer to an aesthically pleasing float plane that I take up every calm night. Can't roll it, but slow and low are very rewarding. Anyone know where I can get more of these floats. I'm pretty sure they are Lanier Floats. Can't seem to load picture at this time.

Two quick questions: Did I see a 40 size Taylorcraft in the Horizon Hobby booth hanging up? It is just like the (20cc version)? I could not get a closer look because I believe RCU was video taping and interview. Does anyone know where this interviews are located?

Nice job on the article. I'm just one of the guys who has sat and watched this all unfold. I saw that Taurus show up on Ebay, my wife didn't think it was such a big deal. Obviously, she was wrong. My favorite part of the article was the thought that the Pusher still may be out there somewhere. I would like to see more of you guys out there flying these planes on Youtube. I have a Taurus, Orion and another Taurus. How about more footage for us guys who are just sitting back and watching. Great article in MA. Maybe it will provide more contributers and the whereabouts of that PUSHER.

Pretty plane. Hope you get it back together. I think I would fly one of these as high as a glider and then just glide it in every time. I know a good glider pilot that could show you how it is done. Landingengines optional.

Mr. Winters, I want to thank you for the video. I have only been flying for 10 years, but I love the looks of the older planes. I am so glad you documented all these beautiful planes. It was the highlight of my evening. Your designs and lines look so crisp. Are these doped and then painted? How did you get such a well defined finish? Thank you so much for the video.

RE: Ed Kazmirski's Taurus
A friend gave me an Orion. Someonee won it 30 years ago at a raffle. He did not fly or know anything about aviation. It made its way to me because I had two Taurus' and I showed an interest in vintage aircraft. The deal was that I could have it if I would let the guy that gave it to me fly it. I restored it and it flew great. The gentleman that gave it to me has been busy and only comes to the field periodically. Once the plane and the guy were at the field together I took some video. Unfortunately, the camera was turned on in my pocket and then shut off when he flew. I only caught his landing. I would love to see more videos of these aircraft flying. Here is my contribution: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-Qtz39-sf0

RE: Seaplane pictures
Mr. Moorman, Thank you for your column. I learned to flatspin just by reading what you wrote. I had been flying a profile for years and couldn't do much. Someone gave me back issues of RCReport and I saw your column. I memorized the gimble positions and I was able to flatspin on the second try. Thanks for including the fact that one can become memorized with the spin and flat spin it into the ground. I received MOST IMPROVED PILOT that year for learning how to spin both inverted and upright. I'm still new to it, but I can do it every time and I love the thrill of the recovery. Thank you from all the guys like me, you made my Sundays even better. Thank you very much.

You are less likely to bump the switch off when picking the plane up off the safety bench. I say anything that is pushed in is good (TWSS).

RE: Ed Kazmurski's Taurus
King, I guess I have a Antiques Road Show mentality (things are worth more in the box). It probably doesn't apply here. I was very excited this summer watching all the auctions. When the second one appeared on the scene I was greatly surprised. This thread has been fantastic to read. I'm a teacher and I have not been able to get through all 31 pages. I think the Daddy Rabbit article was very well done. Did you notice how the prices on Ebay for vintage kits shot up on Ebay and RCU. I credit that article. I love the way the Taurus looks going down the runway. That tail is so high in the air. I am going to make a video and post it on YouTube with all three of my vintage planes taking to the air. I have really enjoyed the thread, fantastic job.

I have read as much as I can. When Daddy Raddit was pictured on MA, I got interested in Vintage airplanes. I have found 2 Taurus since that issue and have flown both. I was given an unflown Orion that was won by a guy in a raffle. He was not into the hobby. I need to know if the crate was ever recovered by Noble Chuck. I could not find an answer to this question.

RE: Ace Simple Ultamite Biplane Any Thoughts.
This was the first kit I ever built. It turned out fine without any special building. I overpowered mine with a OS15 or 20, I can't remember. I learned a valuable lesson, small is convenient, but being able to see a plane is convenient as well. It was fast and you couldn't fly it really far away from you or you would lose orientation. My landing gear came off about every flight and then was epoxied back on every evening. My buddy hated it and couldn't understand why I enjoyed it so much. It took off great and it flew great. One day the battery came loose and it looped several times about 50 feet off the ground. I just stood there watching and then I decided to try to catch it. About half way there I gained control and landed it, and yes the landing gear brole off again. I thought the plane was cool for my first Bipe. You get what you pay for. I got my $50 dollars worth.

Incredible site. How long to actually fly once you obtained the site. Looks like you had plenty of help and maybe some serious money was thrown at this project. Did you have to have every little project approved? I'm guessing that if we hauled in gravel, we would have to have that approved...

RE: Our Club has aquired a landfill as a new field
I'm in 4*'s club as well. Another thing we were curious about is the $5000 AMA grant. The way I read it, the $5000 is to be a 10% supplement to the overall budget. That means that 20 guys need to raise $50,000[:o]. Does our labor fall into this figure? Anyone small clubs out there ever received this $5000 grant. $5000 would go a long way to create a nice flying site. Other than 4*, no one really has that kind of money. Weather wise, 3 inches of snow today and then 45 degrees with a ton of fog. Fog advisory through tomorrow. Great if you are a school teacher[:D].

Outdoorhunter, That site you referenced looks outstanding. We have some rules that make a lot of that impossible. We are on a landfill and can not dig down 6 inches into the ground. We can add top soil to level things out. We can not install a building without putting it on some sort of supports to allow the methane to vent.
