RE: what is the best truggy for around $300-350
I find it hard to believe there is more info on the ST-1 than the Caster. Caster has their own forums and they are constantly busy. As a matter of fact, sometimes I wonder if it hurts them because all the people hang out there instead of places like here.

RE: Looking for a new 1/8 buggy
You are in California, people are starting to take Caster Racing very seriously out there as an alternative to the ones you mentioned.
ORIGINAL: Allistair
ORIGINAL: cbr74 Caster Racing Fusion F18 <a href=''http://casterracingusa.com/product.php?productid=634&cat=1&page=1''>http://casterracingusa.com/product.php?productid=634&cat=1&page=1 RTR w brushless motor and ESC, radio, battery, and wall charger.  For $135, it's a tough deal to beat.
Good price,  It might just be me, but I've never heard of them. Are replacement parts mail order only? I prefer to support my LHS rather mail order companies. Besides that Losi is a VERY reputable company plus replacemnt parts and hop ups are available everywhere for thier products.
Then tell your LHS to pick them up. Problem solved...... They are better than the AE now as they were revised.... Caster has tons of hopups also under F18PT parts... Or just get the pro or pro emb kit..... then the whole car is 7075 aluminum like an Integy conversion kit.

RE: Please help me decide which buggy is best for me!
That is funny considering there is a list of Mugen owners who are buying Caster plastic parts...... The problem with Caster pricing is lack of name recognition, certainly not quality. Now the original ones prior to 2009 were a different story. Luckily not too many of those got sold in the US.

I got pics from a guy that got hit in the face by a Mugen truggy at the SIC 2 years ago. It only took 17 stitches on his forehead and a few on the bridge of his nose. Servo throttle stuck on the 200ft straightaway....

Just get a Caster if you want electric. Since it appears that you have owned 1/8 before, you would be a perfect customer for us.

RE: Christmas truggy?
Why would you be leary of the Caster? It is the best one out there. Just because they are a small company and aren't in every store like Traxxas. I know they are just sitting back and riding out the economy for the time being. They have a 1/10 buggy that will release soon, so they aren't going anywhere.

RE: Which is best out of these 3 for indoor racing 1/18 scale?
Make sure you check out the caster racing buggy and truggy. I saw them on ebay from casterracingusa for $135 and they come with the better hobbywing esc/motor.... They have a pro kit also.

RE: ***OFFICIAL 2009 CASTER RACING ZX1.5R***
Yes, the late models are almost complete. Realistically we will probably offer late model conversions and special order them as a kit. Too many variances when you can choose pro aluminum, rtr aluminum, nitro, electric, etc.....

RE: BEST 1/18 TRUGGY
Until you compare it to the Caster Racing ones. brushless 25 amp setup out of the box, am radio, choice of buggy or truggy, and very similar to the AE but an inch longer for better handling.

RE: Caster Racing is jumping into the 1/18th scale market soon!
Or you could pay more at casterracingusa.com. Holeshothobbies.com has some also. but I would recommend "1/18 brushless" as the search and price high to low. It will be the lowest one including shipping as Caster is trying to get the name out there right now. It is the deal of the century considering.

They are on sale at ebay for $130 shipped from caster racing usa, but they are sort of hard to find.

RE: -OFFICIAL CASTER RACING K8T TRUGGY THREAD-
We have sold the fusion truggies. They have all the new gears and different towers. Actually they are more bulletproof than the k8t out of the box and all f8ts come with big bores and 40 series wheels/tires.

RE: ***OFFICIAL 2009 CASTER RACING ZX1.5R***
It was a failure to be honest. Pillowball is much more durable and will plow over small bumps, etc... where c-hub makes the car too twitchy and this is apparent when on a blown out track with jumps. The lightweight chassis plate is the same now. As parts get modified, they keep the same number and are always interchangeable 99% of the time. So if you see something that says it is zx, it will work on the new 1.5 even though the computer guy is slacking....

RE: Caster Racing is jumping into the 1/18th scale market soon!
Then wait for the pro version. It will kill anything out there. We have had several people buy the rtr now and the results are conclusive. You need to add a locknut to the diff and the servo should be replaced if you are planning on racing it. Other than that, it is similar to the knockoffs and the rc18......but all the problems associated with both are fixed to our specs. I should have some of the pro kits by the end of the week, but it will take some time for my guys to assemble them. Check out the caster usa forums and see what some of the nonbelievers are saying now.... we keep selling them daily.

RE: $450 budget
then you went over budget.....with an ofna nonetheless. I disagree with the $1200 thing. It depends on the driver. These are 1/8 scale vehicles, therefore are durable. So, my direct advice to you is if you only have $450 to spend, spend it and pretend that the car is $1200 to replace....In other words, if you go out there and run into walls, hit others head on, etc... you will have breakages and the cost will go up. But if you follow slow is fast and try not to crash while you learn, you will be just fine. I can only use the Caster as a reference. The rtr is unpopular in the US since so much of the customer base is actual racers, but it is the same geometry, etc and is definitely a competitor right out of the box. It does come with a GO 21, not the grenade, and it comes with a FM radio, but you could get a 2.4 radio instead. The tires will last for several race days as long as you are not running on concrete inbetween races, etc.... We have sold several RTRs in the US, but literally hundreds of them in Europe with great success. As for US racers, some of our guys order things religiously on a weekly basis and part of that is building up inventory in case something does in fact break, but we have 2 team guys that have spent less than $100 retail for the season in replacement parts and I know they are out racing all the time. If your budget is $450, it is achieveable and you can be competitive on the track depending on your driving skills.

RE: best way to lighten up an RTR buggy?
Since you were not brand specific, I will try to answer in a vague way. If the company offers an upgraded lightened pro chassis plate, that will be the biggest bang for the buck. Otherwise, you can get things like lightweight clutchbells, flywheels, and outdrives if they are available. Usually the aluminum parts such as towers, etc... are also an improvement in weight savings. You can also look into wheels/tires/foams. Another option is to get a lipo battery for the servos and receiver.....

Caster Racing pro kits are unassembled and the electric ones obviously don't need a conversion kit if you want electric. Nitro kits are available also.
