RE: Since this is about kit building, what are you building?
Information regarding the one photo was incorrect. look at this more recent photo and you will see that the engine is installed UPRIGHT with the twin pipes of the muffler going out the side. installing the engine beams horizontal made for a nice platform for the 11 oz. tank. did not use the supplied tank box as it is too small. now there is plenty of room for foam inside the fuse around the tank. also made a hatch in the front for access to the fuel lines if need be.

RE: Since this is about kit building, what are you building?
building a Flair Puppeteer . made some changes. lengthened the nose 1" for a side mounted OS .61FX with Pitts style muffler was going to use a .55 ax but since everyone says these are notorious tail heavy going with the .61..it's 5 oz. heaver that the .55 have room for an 11oz. tank in the fuse. have a hatch in the bottom front for a battery pack.

RE: Flair Puppeteer II build
making some progress on the Pup. Decided to go with the engine upright. was going to use my OS .55 but but seeing that my OS .61 was five ounces heaver decided to use it. they claim that this plane requires lots of nose weight no wonder as the full scale had those large , heavy radial engines I guess. going to use a Pitts style muffler with the pipes going out the side. I like the sound that those mufflers give. as you can see there's lots of room for foam to go around my 11 ounce tank. I'm going to stop the top sheeting at former 22. then I'll l have a hatch there if I need to get to the fuel lines inside. also along the bottom I'm going to have a hatch in the bottom to get the battery as far up front as i can. Notice I extended the nose one inch..the engine does not stick out of the cowl much with this arrangement. maybe this will give someone some ideas. Howard
