RE: CRRC 40cc kit
I made a few posts early in this thread, Jody recomended 20x8 props which I ran on both mine. They turn a Zoar 20x8 and a 20 inch vess 6800 or so. This engine loves to run at that RPM and will help keep the noise down a little. Hamman

RE: CG Ultimate Biplane ARF 60.5
All biplanes are addictive in my case. My GP is a little under 16 lbs with a DL 50 and no smoke... I used the GP Extra 330 gear, it looks the same as the Ulti but much stonger and bolts right on... I bought up way too many planes and got rid of most of them in the past 6 months... I decided to keep one of the G.B. 60.5's and hope to get it assembled before the first of the year... I'm trying to decide which engine to use... My choices are a Saito 1.80, Mvvs 35 or a Brillelli SSR 26 which is a 29cc to chose from. I'll probably use one of the gassers but the Saito sure sounds a bunch better and my Saito's have treated me well! Larry

RE: CG Ultimate Biplane ARF 60.5
Thanks so much! I don't know why they don't sell parts for these but before they bought out G.B. the parts were high priced but at least you could get them... I'm still flying a G.B. Extra 330 and love the plane... I have the G.P. ultimate 1.60 and if this plane flies half as good its a winner! Larry

RE: CG Ultimate Biplane ARF 60.5
Hello all. I bought 2 of these planes, one was a scratch and dent item missing the canopy. I sold off a bunch of my unbuilt arf's including the one new Ultimate. My question is does anyone have a canopy for sale or an idea what to try for a good substitute? I know I should have done this before I got rid of the complete plane but that seems the way it goes sometimes! Thanks for any help, Larry

Thanks Rod, I forgot how much I paid for it. I sold off a lot of my unbuilt ARFs and was thinking of also selling the CG Edge. My work situation has changed and I don't have a lot of time for hobbies. Larry

Oh buy the way I don't use fuel barbs never have and never will......Thats fine but WHY try to confuse someone thats asking for some help? Everytime someone tries to help someone another offers some stupid opinion. Why take the risk of fuel line coming off in flight and risking the loss of a plane? Oh well, l give up.

RE: CRRC 40cc kit
billconn My C.G. Extra 330 weighs 14 lbs 7 oz. The CRRC 40 will hover it but the pull out is very slow, for the sport flying I do its a good engine but for a 3Der it would not be the best. If your AUW is 13lb it might be ok for 3D. Its turning a Vess 20A @ 6800 RPM ....Hamman

RE: How to find a GP Slowpoke Sport 40 ARF??
You can still purchase the fuse, wing, tail set, and landing gear from Tower for 165.46 For a few extra bucks add the fuel tank and hardware or dig around in your spare parts bin and your all set. I think you can still download the manual. Use promotional code 010C1 to save 20 bucks on a 150.00 order! here is the link http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0005p?&I=GPMA1215&P=OW Hamman

RE: CRRC 40cc kit
I got home in time this evening to try out the Vess 20A prop. Guess what, not much differant then the Zoar, it may of had a tad better pull out from my hover attempts but thats about it. The rpm of both props this evening was around 6700. It was getting dark so I only had a 10 min. flight on each prop. Hamman

RE: CRRC 40cc kit
The dandelions here seem to go away after we mow a few times, I mowed it Friday eve. and 100 more dandelions came to the funeral of each one I cut off! I put a washer under the sensor screws maybe thats why it looks differant. The plastic is breaking up on mine too. On the original engine the first sensor had a wire broke off but Jim sent me a new one. I have some other sensors fron Hobby City but they would require mounting changes and retiming, I think for now I will try to use the stock ones and maybe I will buy a couple of spares. Larry

RE: CRRC 40cc kit
Rocky, I would take a bit more off the bottom cover, just a little then use a little hi-temp lock tite on the bearings and give that a try. You may be a little on the rich side, warm it up and peak the hi speed needle then richen it until it drops 100 to 200 RPM. Adjust low speed for best transition, recheck the hi speed setting and if it seems to run reliable its best to get it in the air and fly it, it will run cooler that way. Your almost there, Dont give up now! Larry

RE: CRRC 40cc kit
Rocky, Don't give up on the engine! I purchased one of these engines when they first were advertised and I had the loose bearing problem the first time I ran the engine. I also had the same carb problems as you due to sucking air in the crankcase due to poor bottom cover sealing problems, I resolved both problems by removing a small amount of material off the bottom cover by sanding it off with 220 grit sandpaper on a piece of glass, I had to remove .004 or .005. I had to try several times until I removed enough. You should not have any bearing play after the engine is good and warm. Another thing to check is the disk that is in the rear of the engine, make sure it is seated as deep as possible in the engine block as it could keep the bottom cover from seating against the engine block. I purchased a used one off of this site and when I got it I noticed it also had bearing play. I discovered that problem by removing the crank and piston and I replaced the bottom cover and after tightening the bolts I noticed it was not seating to the block at the rear where the disc is, you could see a gap. The crankcase has to have NO leaks for the engine to run correctly, if it draws air anywhere it will drive you nuts and you may even say a bad word while trying to adjust the carb! It is only a very few of these engines that have had bearing spinning in the case problems, I was lucky to catch the problem in my engines before the bearings spun and messed up the case! GOOD LUCK! Larry I should have stated that in my engines the actual bearing was not the problem, it was that it was not being clamped tightly in the engine case and if its not tight it can spin and also cause an air leak!
