RE: Split list and classified section
I'll just add this, we had a lot of push back after the last change we made in creating the "Pattern Universe" structure just a few months ago. I don't think there is really much merit in making any additional changes in the near term. There already is a "pattern" section in the classifieds and I see no need to change the forum structure again in such a short period of time since the last major change... at this point I will not support this suggestion...
ORIGINAL: trmcrft Glad I found this thread. I was given what I think is an original Curare 40. The box is well worn so it must be old! One of those 'found in the basement corner' gems. Hoping to make it up as a electric conversion.
I am actually thinking about building an electric version of the 60 size as well. and suggestions on a screaming e-power setup for a 60 size e-curare would be appreciated.... thanks all...

RE: Curare build
I've had my adjusto for abut 30 years and do really love building on it. one of my best modeling purchases... been pulling late nights at the office and haven't touch the build in a couple days...

RE: Curare build
Back on the Curare. Having scraped the work I did years ago now. I have completely redrawn the original MK plans, made changes to substitute wood in US inch measurements while maintaining profiles. Again this will be a all hand cut scratch built airframe. I built the stab this past sunday, using choice contest wood, total weight of the complete horizontal is less than 3 1/4 oz. The wing is starting out sweet, I redrew all rib profiles, actually re-plotted all the ribs and redesigned the structure slightly for use on my old trusty adjusto-jig. super light 3/32" hand cut ribs. I like the jig as it allows me to build the wing in one piece on the jig with a really strong center section. And I plan on building at least a couple curares... Really at this point I can have the basic wing framed in one afternoon. I have some choice sub 20 gm 3/32 sheeting wood going on the wings. anybody have some hard maple that I could use to build the MK style beam mounts? :) enjoy!

RE: Black Magic v2 builder's thread! *Updated*
Hi Ed, I am fairly sure they where these: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMJJ9&P=0 and I was running 3/16 Titanium struts from central. The plane was operated off grass as well as paved runways, really not to many problems - it would be good to make a really good padded cradle to support the plane when your starting the motor. The plane was really cool with retracts and I would do it again in a flash. good luck, dean

that pic is when I was owner of the proto, ( me flying) it had a YS 140 DZ, I loved doing low gear up passes, that was taken during our districts way back.
ORIGINAL: Atlanta 60
ORIGINAL: petec As long as it's YS powered with a tuned pipe it should be OK....right???????????
Yeah but if it had retracts too.... [8D] This is the Coolest Black Magic ever....I know there are some really awesome planes which you guys have built...But sorry...This one is the coolest... [;)] RIP prototype... [:o]
RE: Black Magic v2 builder's thread! *Updated*
Chuck I was running about a 1/4 degree positive on the stabs and about 3/4 degree on the wings.... the stabs will be about a turn positive from zero on the adjusters.

I am running about .5 degrees on everything from my Super Kaos to my Black Magic. What is your wing incidence on your favorite pattern ship?

RE: KAOS AND RELATED PLANES AND INFO
here is a shot of my current super kaos build. I hope to fly this in the BPA meet this year. guys I have unpinned this thread on the classic forum. I am just doing a little early spring cleaning - I am more than happy to repin - but it's been there for a long time. We are doing things to improve the structure and form of the pattern threads and in the theme of moving forward. I made the decision to return this thread to normal status. Feel free to join me in keeping this thread at the top of the list with active posts.
