RE: DLE-111 rod bearing failure...
as far as oil I'm sure youll get everone who thinks they run the best oil to offer an opinion. the guy who stated the sludge problem, is correct. A rep at Klotz told me the airplane engines really dont work hard enough or run hot enough to warrent ashless or mineral oil as commonly called. Thats where the sludge problem occurs. I think any good oil such as Klotz, red line, at 40 to 1 works well. I know there is alot of companys that say 50 or even 80 to 1. Im not a fan of that. But dont forget it might not have been the oil at all, could have just been a bad bearing. I was interested in the thread cause I have a DLE 111 that going on a scratch built 33% t craft. so ILL be watching this. Please post the outcome when you get the engine fixed. wonder why the DA folks arent saying see told you so. Dont pay any attention to them, i have 7 DL engine and have never had a problem with them that a good crash to take care of

RE: hangar9 floats 1/4 scale
so far after one summer, my 2nd set of floats have held up with fiberglassing just the bottoms. There still Crap floats and i question H9's integerty for not doing something about it after two years.

well sorry about your loss guy, but unfortunatly you will probably never know why. My old friend Miles Reed who just passed always told me keep it simple.

RE: Great Planes Giant Big Stik with DLE-55
Bob Kline and i both used the landing gear off an airplane called a road runner, which are not available anymore. you can email funfly@wyoming.com, and see if he has any, but i doubt you will hear from him. Anygood aluminum, gear that will give you the prop clearance you need will work. By the way I have flown mine all summer well over 500 flights, abused the crap out of it, alot of full throttle, and its still going.

RE: Compsite ARF extra 260 crash.... trying to confirm the reason.
What are your battery specs? Im not familiar with what sounds like a complicated set up, but if you had two recievers, why did you lose the signal on both?

RE: KMP Beaver: Just started, looking for feedback
Mine flew like crap. Incedence way off, all the float rigging were like little rudders angling way off the slip stream. I t looked good sitting there and didnt fly bad on wheels, but I gave it a 4. Basically a big piece of shit for the price

RE: Running dual receiver set-ups in your giant scale?
Im all for the dual reiever, switch, battery set up. Ive used it for years, and it did save an airplane for me once. ( Switch took a shit). I agree 100% that most failures are battery or switch related.

RE: Spektrum RX power rail question
It will work fine as Jake pointed out, but hear is a suggestion for you. Add another reciever, switch, bind both, and have total redundincy. AR7000 are 85 bucks and a good switch is 20, so for a 100 bucks or so, get the picture?

It will work fine, but just to let you know you dont need that much servo in a 29% airplane. Hi tek 654's or 5645"s will do the job just fine.

RE: Hangar 9 33% edge CG question
well guess what? I did talk to Mike McConville today and he said oh ya , that was a misprint in the manual. Would have been real nice if I would have crashed because of a typo. I did move it to 4 1/2 and again changed the program a bit and Its flying fine now. I still like my 33% TOC, SD Extra 260 better. For IMAC at least. Wanna buy the Edge?
