RE: Wen Mac model
That looks a lot like my first model. I got it for Xmas in 1958. Can't be sure though since that was a LONG time ago.

RE: Alpha 4 and NIMh
Hi The Alpha is not recommended for fast charges on Nimh batteries. I believe all that is recommended is the N and C10 discharge. I can look at the instructions tonight if you want me to.

Li-ion Batteries
Hi I recently had a battery pack for my laptop get zapped during a power outage. Something on the PC board got fried and it no longer functions with the computer. I now have 6 5200 Li-ion batteries that I believe are just fine. I believe that Li-ion's will not take a large discharge rate, also they are heavy so using them for powering an electric is not good. Has anyone used them for powering a flight pack or for electric ignition? What else can they be used for? What is the voltage of each cell? I knew that once but forgot. Thanks

RE: 9Z Data Transfer Question
Thanks, I don't know why I didn't think of that since I have done it before. I did a search and found a post that said that both trannys have to be on PPM or PCM, both the same. Since one of mine is new I wonder if it wasn't on PCM since that is the default on a new transmitter. I only use PPM so the sending transmitter was on PPM. I'll check it later. I wonder why Futaba hasn't replied to my question? I checked the FAQ's and there is no help there. Thanks again.

9Z Data Transfer Question
Hi I have been unsuccessful in transferring model setups between my two 9ZWCII's. It seems that you have to be fast in setting up between the two in order to even get the transfer going or you get an error message. One time I was actually able to get a transfer but the receiving transmitter showed an error that there was not enough memory. There are two models open and no fancy programming. The setup seems simple and the trainer cord I am using is good. What am I doing wrong? Thanks
quote: ORIGINAL: pappy35 Let's get Chas his money so he SHUTS THE HELL UP! Alright Hank, PM me and I'll give you a mailing addy. I'm going to predict you're just ALL TALK and not willing to back up your statement. In the event you did back up your statement it would spare Scott the lawsuit that I've filed against his company and person. I would think Scott might appreciate that from you. But you're just talk aren't cha?
You quote pappy35 and use my name in your post. What are you talking about? My post had nothing to do with you or any lawsuit you may have in mind. But, while we are at it, I don't believe anyone is out more than a few hundred bucks here. I cannot believe anyone would bother with a lawsuit over this small an amount. Besides, there are just too many extenuating circumstances, unless you are just out for your pound of flesh. Why not let things run their course and see what happens. Life is too short for this kind of nonsense.

RE: Brillelli Update
Hi guys As a personal note I have been playing with toy airplanes since Xmas 1958, OK I'm an old fart. In all those years I have only been ripped off once. I can remember leaving cash on top of my field box and knew that it would be there when I left the field for the day. This hobby has always been enjoyed by very honest people. Sure, things change. Especially when non-modelers and marginal types get involved. Today it is easy to take advantage of the internet and dishonorable types can use if for their own benefit BUT I believe that 99% of those involved in the hobby are honest. When you run a small business or a home business there is very little margin for error, whether caused internally or externally. Most small businesses are financed thru sales. I don't see anything out of the ordinary for Scott to have used deposits on engines to finance inventory. Unfortunately he was burned by one of his suppliers. He sent them money and they took it before going out of business. I find this to be the dishonorable act here. Scott was the first victim. One thing that I believe needs to be recognized here is that this is an expensive hobby. No one should be spending his rent or food bills on an engine or airplane. Money spent on the hobby needs to be expendable, by definition. Sure I hate to lose $350 and would love to get either an engine or the money back but, if I lose it I won't miss a meal or a house payment. My kids will stay in college and I will be able to pay the bills. Every time we take off with a $1,000 airplane that money is at risk, just a little perspective. Everything I have read is that until his health backfired on him Scott was running a profitable business out of his house and was using the profits to build the business. Normal and honorable. He was blindsided and lost the business. Not good but not unusual either. Had he destroyed the business through poor business practices or some dishonorable action I certainly would be just a PO'd as anyone here. This does not seem to be the case here. I believe we should lick our wounds and hope for the best. Let’s lighten up and go back to playing with our toys. Respectfully,

RE: Scott from Brillelli ?????
The USPS only uses these receipts to track lost packages. It may or may not mean anything was actually mailed. That's why I try to only use UPS or FedEx. On the 26SSR thread there was a post that said that Scott was no longer around. I am trying to find out what was meant by that. If Scott is going to pack it in he probably doesn't have the cash to refund the amounts that buyers have paid in advance. At $350 per engine he is going to have to come up with thousands to pay us all back. Scary thought.

Hi guys Got a nice email from Scott. Looks like he has the parts he needs in stock finally and is clearing his backlog. Hope he can find it in his heart to rejoin this thread after being dumped on in the past. Maybe the moderator can convince him. He has the answers to most of our questions.

RE: *Brillelli 26-SSR*
Hi I am guessing that Scott is a little turned off on our forum. From what I read here he is working to get the backorders filled but is running into health and supply problems. I ordered mine on June the 3rd so I guess I am well down the que. Sure it is frustrating but giving Scott the benefit of the doubt looks like the best thing to do. JMHO.

Agree, we have quite a few 8U's still flying at our field. They seem to be fine radios. If it doesn't come back I certainly would send it in for repair. Rates are really very reasonable these days and service is great.

RE: slow stick, lipoly or nimh
I may have misunderstood your question on the hinging. Cut the surface 45 degrees. Lay the surface and its mate on a flat table, ie horizontal stab and elevator. Hinge the top with some packing tape while it is still laying flat. Turn it over on the flat surface with the elevator hanging over the edge and deflect the elevator 45 degrees or so and put tape on the bottom of the stab so 1/2 of the tape is on the stab, push the tape into the hinge line along the 45 you cut then run it over the elevator. I wish I could explain it better. Once you have done this the surface will deflect +- 45 degrees easily. Hope this answers your question.

RE: slow stick, lipoly or nimh
If I remember I cut mine 45 degrees and used packing tape for hinges. You will never need +- 90 degrees for a flying surface. I think I have less than 45 degrees movement and it flys fine. If I can I will get it down and check. The one thing you have to remember is that this airplane has a highly undercambered wing. This means the faster it flys the more lift it generates. The first thing I had to do was get it in the air and trim in down elevator until it was flying level. Initially it flew with the nose high, not climbing particularly just mushing around. Once I got it on an even keel it really flew fine. Anticipate your turns a little cause the rudder can be a little ineffective. Not bad though. This really is a fun airplane. Very forgiving and really strong. My son put it into the top of a 30 foot willow on our property. Took him and a couple of his friends with a piece of PVC pipe tied to a heavy string a couple of hours to finally hook it and get it down. Had it ready to fly again in an hour. Just have fun with it. It doesn't do anything particularly well except putt around the sky and loop like crazy.

RE: slow stick, lipoly or nimh
I use 2 cell 1500mah lipos on mine. Flys forever with good power. Just use the right charger and don't charge unattended. Make sure your ESC is programmed for the right voltage cut-off.

The GP Giles has a built up fuse, not fiberglass. The cowl and wheel pants are fiberglass though.

RE: Hobbico Quick Field DC Charger MKII 12 Volt
The only problem I have had with mine is when charging a 2 cell LiPo. I had not discharged it to 3 volts and wanted to top it off. The Quick Charger reads the voltage of the battery and decides how many cells it has. I assumed my 2 cell was a 3 cell and overcharged it causing it to swell up. Now I use my Tritons to charge LiPos. Otherwise the Quick Charger works fine.
