RE: Senior Telemaster Engines
IMHO the Sr Telemaster is just a big trainer and doesn't need much power to perform that function. I flew mine on an old 4-stroke Webra 60 for years. That engine had about as much power as a 35 2-stroke, maybe a little less. Later, I re-engined to a Saito 80 which really jerked the thing around the sky - not very realistic flying.[:o]

RE: 4 Star 120 with OS 120 4 stroke
A flying buddy of mine lost his 4*40 on the first flight a few years back which was covered in fabric. He called Sig, which subsequently revised the plans to emphasize using plastic film covering ONLY in order to stiffen the wing. My 4*120 wing is covered with monokote and is stiff as a board. Still, I wish I had sheeted the leading edge to make a D - tube structure for maximum stiffness.[&o]

RE: Four Star 40 Rebuild
Can't wait to hear the outcome of your project including flying charactoristics. I want to rebuild my 4* this winter as well, sheeting the turtle deck and wing leading edge. I also want to rotate the engine about 110 degrees and cowl it in with balsa pieces. I'll leave the control surface sizes alone unless you report outstanding success by making them larger....

RE: Tiger 60 build question
My Tiger 60 fuselage also had the banana look to it before gluing. I rubber banded all the formers in place, plus used a few clamps here and there, then placed it over the plan and used bricks to help force it straight. After that, the CA was dribbled on. The fuse came out straight as an arrow. I also have a Four Star Forty that had a crooked fuse and stayed crooked even after gluing. It still flies fine! Go figure.[:)]

RE: Electrifly 3200mah 11.1v Pack Charging Q
rmenke, you may be right about that, but until the manufacturer comes up with a rational, logical explanation for why his bizarre charging instructions, different from everybody elses, are absolutely necessary, I will follow my own instincts. Electrifly doesn't offer any explanation as to why their charging method is the only way.....it's just buy our charger stuff and everything will all be OK. Phooey! Hey jcg, thanks for the FMA LiPo tip - should have bought from them originally. Live and learn, etc.[:@]

RE: Electrifly 3200mah 11.1v Pack Charging Q
Hoe-Que, for those who are interested, I went ahead and charged my Electrifly 3S, 11.1v, 3200mah pack ($120 worth) through the "To ESC Only" lead (Deans Plug) from my Accu-Cycle Elite and put the Astro Blinky into the "To Charger" lead. Everything worked out perfectly. The pack is fully charged and balanced, did not blow up or catch fire, and all is well. All the warnings about the severe damage that will occur if you do this is a bunch of BS. Go ahead and charge your Electrifly like a regular LiPo, and have fun![;)]

Electrifly 3200mah 11.1v Pack Charging Q
Just bought my first electric plane, motor, LiPo battery etc from Great Planes (Electrifly). I figured I'd charge the battery like all my friends do using my AccuCycle Elite along with an Astro blinky balancer. Then I read on the package to NEVER charge through the deans plug but always through the teenie-weenie balance plug. That can't be right. [&o] Has anybody charged these packs through the heavy wired Deans plug like I figured was normal? Can't tell from previous posts. Thanks for the help.
ORIGINAL: GaGeeBees The OS Pegasus is the way to go. Beautiful engine, great sound, plenty of power. Anything else pales by comparison. Nothing against two stroke gas burners but I just don't think that a Cub should sound like a weed-whacker [:)]
The pegasus is nice, no question, but it's a 1/4 scale engine....looks too small in the 1/3 scale cub. I've got the Kavan FK50 for mine - 1/3 scale engine, but only 2 cyl. Can't win 'em all.[8|]

RE: OS-Pegasus 320 - Hostetler Cessna 150
My advice is that it is not a problem. Unless the tank is substanially higher than the carb inlet, flooding won't happen, and even then it is doubtful due to carb location relative to the intake valves. There will always be tank level changes during flight and the engine will typically go from slightly rich to slightly lean as the flight progresses. No big deal, certainly not enough suction head change to cause serious problems. The carb on the pegasus is underneath the engine, so any positive head initially will simply drip out the air inlet venturi until the engine is started and running. It won't flood the engine.

RE: Dave Patrick super cub
My Keleo exhaust header failed as well, same jug, but more around the flange where the nut tightens it into the head. IMHO, although it is a cool header, the thing is VERY flimsy. Kelvin told me my break was probably due to vibration, but I doubt it since the prop was balanced and it all ran very smoothly. I'm having my friend (A&P Mechanic) weld it up for me for another go. He's used to welding thin aluminum.
ORIGINAL: Hill202 Keleo exhaust failure. About the tenth flight. Kelvin has been sent this picture. I sure hope he stands good for it. **update** I talked to Kelvin a moment ago and a new one is on the way!! Now thats how you run a business. Thanks again Kelvin!! [;)]
RE: How Do You Secure the Exhaust Pipe/Muffler?
I used teflon tape on my Keleo twin exhaust header (OS-160FT) and it stopped the nuts from backing out as they tended to do after a few flights. However today the right jug side exhaust header flange busted clean off![:@] Guess I'll send her back to old Kelvin and see if he can fix it for me. I must have excessive vibration somewhere, but the prop is balanced perfectly, so that ain't it.

How about the Corby Starlet ARF (see Chief Aircraft)? It requires a 70 - 90 four stroke and this one would fit inside the cowl - no butchering required.

RE: Sig 4*40 problems
Mine "dives to the belly" as you say, too. I have mixed a little "up" elevator into my transmitter when rudder is applied and it now tracks straight on knife edge. It was all trial and error to get the right combination of up with rudder. Before the mixing, I would just anticipate the belly dive and hold a little up elevator. That worked OK, but wasn't as rock steady as the mix is now.

RE: Need help choosing engine for a fleet biplane
I have an OS FR-300 and find it to be rather fun. It was trouble at first, but with some break-in time and a glow ignitor system for low RPM there are no problems with it. You can't beat that radial rumble at idle, and it has good power at highend - plenty for the Fleet bipe, IMHO. I use mine on a 1st generation Ziroli Stearman with the engine mounted directly to the firewall. I use an exhaust collector ring with exhaust existing to the starboard side of the fuse, just like the full-sized. Don't be deterred by the nay-sayers - it will be a great engine for your Fleet.[;)]
