RE: Dumas 36
I built a Dumas Cobra, turned out pretty nice, I looked at my friends runabout, and it think it will be a little eaiser to build than most woodies, it just has a few small top planked areas. On the top of most other planked boats, when the planking gets to the edges and one side is a 32nd of an inch closer than the other side, one plank could run 1 to 5 inches futher down one side than the other, depending on the converging angle.

That is close, but the one I am looking for is a close up from the back, with water on thr right, it looked like it was on the side of the strip of water that connected the inland lake area to the ocean. The only boat in the picture was the orca.

About a year ago I saw a picture of the Orca Jaws boat on blocks or barrels, the transom was missing. I am going to be building a model of the orca now and it would help a lot to see that particular picture, can anyone help, thanks, Randy. P.S. I have many other pictures, but that one would help a lot.

RE: Need some advice/help on electrical work on PT 109
Our club has about 100 boats and about 40 of them run the proboat. I run 8 proboats in my 6 boats, One of my boats runs 2 Graupner 700 12v speed motors with one proboat, the only problem I have seen is when someone tries to put more than 12 volts which they are rated for, or like I did once reverse the polarity on the battery. Viper 900 motors are about 580 +- RPMS per volt and dont pull that many amps. On this scale boat thread, a few stories down you can see my 109 with 3 motors and 3 proboat escs. The one thing I do not like about the proboat escs is it is hard to get a slow speed from them.

I understand you would just like to see the boat run, even if the speed controler is out dated, keep us posted, by the way, the boat looks like the 1/20th scale Dumas, with the fiberglass hull, that is an exellent kit, I hope years down the road someone in my family would take an intrest in my boats. Good luck.

Look at the top of the scale page at this time, look at the pt 109 with 3 motors, this gives me 12+ MPH ON 10 CELLS.

I use 3 blade dumas brass props, the ones Dumas gets buys from some other company. The real boats had 3 blade brass props.

RE: Need some advice/help on electrical work on PT 109
To answer your questian more direct. you have 4 bare wires comming from the silver box/ electronic speed control/ESC (the one I hate some much) two of thoes go to the battery, probably the two with alligator clips, I dont know if there is a problem in reversing them or not, so just make sure to hook the red to pos and the black to neg. the other two green wires go to the motor and if they are reversed the motor will only run opposit so this is just trial and error. Find the transmitter, put in good batteries, and go.

RE: Need some advice/help on electrical work on PT 109
First, get rid of the old speed control, that uses resistors to control the current flow. That old dumas speed control will heat up more when the power is in the low position and drain your battery, and get very hot. If you put in a 40$ Proboat ESC which comes with a battery elimanition circut and has a reverse,12 volts is its limit ant it will handel that motor with ease(I am sure there are many other good ESCs) This is how you would set it up. 2 wires go from the battery to the esc, do not reverse them or it will burn up the esc, two wires will go from the esc to the motor, if you reverse these wires, it will only make the motor run in reverse. of the 2 wires left on the esc, one goes to the reciever, that is the top box in your picture, You would replace the center wire. Becaues the proboat esc has a battery elimnation circut you would not need the wire that is plugged into the right side of the reciever. Unplug and remove it and the small pack of batterys that only give power to the esc, the new esc will pull power off main battery to run the reciever. The only wire left on the new esc is the on off switch, always turn it on after you turn on the transmitter and turn it off before you turn tne transmitter off. you dont want the esc on when the reciever is not on or the esc and survos go wacky. This will allow you to get rid of that survo on the right of your picture, the large silver esc and the battery pack the runs the reciever.

African Panzer colors
If a person wanted to be accurate when painting a German tank in the african theater, Tamiya says Tamiya XF60, and also XF60 for latter German tanks in Europe, Model Master has an African Musterd, paint also, and when looking at the charts, there is a big difference between the two. Does anyone know the best color for an African German tank. Thanks, Randy.

Tamiya price differences
I thing I will get back into bilding tanks once again. I have built 15-18 tanks in my life, they were all Tamiya. The last one about 10 years ago. Upon looking on the net, at different Tamiya tanks I noticed a large price difference in models of the same size and scale. I do remember building a Panzer III that was detailed more than the rest. Questian, Is there any way to tell the amount of detail on the different models, Thanks, Randy.

Thank you for your time. I contacted the credit card company today (7-6-9), they said as of there latest reports, they had not been contacted by Harbor Models. The return recipt shows the propeller was recieved back by Harbor Models (6-12-9) 2:42pm. The credit card company will contact Harbor Models. I have been told by some people that Harbor Models will make things right, not to worry. I will keep you posted. Thanks, Randy.

Credit card advise
About 2 months I ordered a prop with a 3/16" hole for the shaft from Harbor Models. There was an option for 5mm and a seperate one for 3/16th, among others. I specified 3/16" shaft, but recieved 5mm, I called and was informed, that prop did not come in 3/16th, but 5mm was close enough, I told the person at Harbor Models I would eat the return postage to send the prop back, and wanted the bill taken off my credit card, he agreed. I have a reciept of proof that the prop was recived by Harbor Models. About 3 weeks later I paid the credit card bill and after checking the cost, figured out I paid the bill that was not supposed to be on the account any more, the one from Harbor Models. Questian, do I talk to Harbor Models, the local bank whear I paid the bill, or call the cerdit card company whear I have not been able to talk to a real person yet. Thanks, Randy.

It was for a cub scout pinewood derby car. as it turns out I used the standard graphite with moly from the hobby store. I had two cars, one placed 5th at council, That is from a total of approx 700 cars. the fastest cars go from pack wins to district wins to council, my other sons car finished 4th at district, that is from a total of approx 54 cars, he did not finish 3rd or better and did not advance to council.
