Thier support was more than good when I had an issue with a defective ESC that was killing my battery pack. I contacted them, shipped it to them as asked and the next thing I know, they ship me out a new one free of charge via UPS. These guys have my deepest utmost respect.
Thats pretty cool. But I'm guessing there are Redcat people trolling this forum to promote their image...im basing that guess off the fact that their website has a link to this site. I would do the same thing though.

the thing about redcats is that they are cheap but it seems like you can at least get replacement parts more easily than with other cheap RC brands. Their website and ebay seem to have a decent amount of replacement parts. Am I wrong? Maybe guys that own the can answer this...

Where do you all buy your Redcat products and replacement parts? I'm looking at getting the best bang for buck brushless monster truck and this looks like a good possibility. Sound like the stearing servo and aluminum control arms are the most common upgrades? How much is that going to cost and where can I order them? Thanks in advance. btw...
ORIGINAL: Ptec The Slash 4x4 is great but out of your price range even for used. I would get the revo 1/16 over the slash 1/16.  Mini Summits are cool too. Otherwise you can get just about any 2wd 1/10 scale used for around 200 like you said. I have a brushed revo we bought new for 200 and its great. I have a savage xs too and the savage seems to be my favorite of the 3 but currently has broken axles i have not got around to fixing.
Ok thaks. I think I'm just going to keep an eye out for a used revo or summit 1/16 or possibly a 2wd stampede 1/10 if the price is right...all brushless models.
ORIGINAL: t9dragon What size are you looking at? There is 1/16, 1/18 and Mini.
Either 1/16 or 1/18. Is there a big difference between the two? Probably rather go with 1/16 because its bigger. I just remember when I had 1/10 scale models I wished I had a smaller RC because everything is cheaper...but then I've also heard the smaller RC's break more.

I used to be into RC's and have just gotten the urge to get back. I owned all traxxas before so thats what I've looked at so far (slash and erevo) but I want to get some feedback from people that know this stuff well. I'm looking for brushless, I'd like it to be 4x4 for better off roading and durable. Looking for the best bang for buck out there...obviously there are different levels of this for every dolar spent so all and any suggestion is appreciated.

Elmo6, who i think is the owner of boomboombats.com told me to send it in and he would replace it.... so i did, and that was about 2 months ago! I called and left a message but havent got a call back, and on top of this it took a month to recieve the batt in the first place. FYI - i dont recomend boomboom.... long shipping time and the ener-g batteries cost too much for the risk of getting a bad pack

RE: what to upgrade 1st on vxl?
The shock caps will blow off if you do a lot of jumps. But i always recomend replacing things as they break because a lot of times parts that "normaly" break for one guy will last forever for another so its just better to wait. ...you will have to get new rear tires pretty quick if you drive on asphault a lot!

just replace parts as they break... this is the reason i bought a traxxas truck, parts are easy to find and my LHS stocks almost every replacement part

RE: Converting stickpack to side by side
I have done it but I would recomend you leave the pack as it is unless its getting too hot or you really want to convert it. I converted one pack to sxs but i didnt notice a difference in performance or heat. I would suggest getting one of those cell trays so that your pack comes out perfectly square. I think converting to sxs is ony good if the original stick pack build is bad... Unless your racing and you are super critical... [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/article_display.cfm?article_id=481]HERE[/link] is a how to for a 6cell pack, if your doing 7 or 8 cell hump make sure you lign your cells up correctly

there was another thread on this not too long ago... im pretty sure you can use that charger to charge AA's. Just get one of those battery trays from radioshack, I think you can get them in a bunch of different sizes 1,2,4,6,8 cell trays and hook it up to your piranah

Replace parts as they break. And if you only have one battery i would get another or upgrade to lipo. Aluminum parts are cost too much so i buy rpm parts which i havent broken yet.
