RE: How far is your field from your home?
I live 7 miles from the field that I fly at and 3 miles from a field I fly only fly-ins at. I have 18 fields within 25 miles of my house. I am lucky as heck. Joe

RE: Your favorite part of building
My favorite part of building is seeing that big old box of wood turning into a plane. It just amazes me that I took a box of wood and sticks and made something fly. I can honestly say that there really isn't a part that I dislike. I like to build as much as I like to fly. Joe
ORIGINAL: tcrowson Joe, The tubing is K&S 3/16'' aluminum. I am attaching a picture, the arrester hook was added after the tail was assembled. Jon had asked for a picture of the engine installation so am attaching them as well. The Saito fit with only some of the valve cover screws hitting the cowl. Tas
OK Tas, call me stupid. I am still trying to figure out how the heck you did that. Can you please explain what you used and how you did it. I also the covering where the arrester goes into. what did you do to do that. I am going to guess at the end where you have the catch you just squeezed the tubing to flatten it then rolled it back onto itself to make the hook. Joe

RE: BH T-28 Assembly
I finally got my T-28 out after having some minor engine issues. I took off and up, up, up, up, and I do mean straight up the plane went. LOL. I was doing everything I could to level the plane out and finally slowed the engine down and the plane leveled out. It was lift some but it was manageable. I then hit the throttle again and straight up it went. [sm=idea.gif] I thought wholly crap are my flaps down and sure enough they were all the way down. I'm guessing I accidentally hit the switch when I reached down to get my TX after I stared the plane. Man it scared the heck out of me. LOL. But all ended well and this plane flys like a dream. I am thinking that I might enter it in my clubs IMAC event next year. It flys straight as an arrow. I absolutely love this plane. That 91 Magnum 2 stroke rips it through the sky. Joe

RE: BH t-28 trojan maiden problems
Sounds to me that your instructor isn't much of a maiden pilot. Sorry to hear about the mishap. As far as the plane shooting up. The plane has a nose up attitude with the standard wheels which is causing it to shoot straight up in the middle of taxing. You have to get a smaller nose wheel and a little bit larger rear landing gear wheels. I think we have 3 1/2 rears and 1 3/4 front wheels. Take a look at this [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7580738/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm]BH T-28 Building Thread.[/link] It has a wealth of information from all of us BH T-28 owners. This plane handles like a gem. The 91 is a big engine for the plane and definitley is a lot for this light 60 size plane. However, it isn't going to make the plane fly like crap. I would recheck the CG, take a close look at the nose up attitude and get it lowered, and set the throws as the instructions say. This plane has a lot of action with the set throws. There is absolutely no reason at all to do anything different. Oh yeah and get a new person to maiden your plane. Joe

RE: How did you come to love Warbirds?
I have been fascinated with planes since I can remember. I used to watch all the John Wayne movies every Sunday morining and the planes intrigued me. I had always wanted to be a fighter pilot but for some reason really never pursued it. I joined the Army and as you know I was around planes all the time. A few years ago I got hurt at work and was off for 6 months and drove by an RC Club site by my house and sat and watched forever. I showed up the next day to watch again and the trainer asked me if I wanted to fly. OMG, it was the coolest thing in the world. Long story short, I got me a plane and learned to fly. Now for the past few years I have been buying and reading all kinds of books about B-25s, B-17s, WWII Bombers, and WWII Fighters. As stated by someone in an earlier post, if I hear an engine I am out the front door looking to see the plane. I just can't get enough of them. Wright Patterson Air Force Base is only 30 miles from where I live and I see all kinds of jets and military aircraft flying over head really low. It is amazing. I also have a couple of airfields close by that have P-51s and T-28s flying out of them all the time. The T-28s are an airshow team that fly all over the Midwest. Just nothing better than a WWII plane.

RE: Official F27 Stryker Part 8: Beginners to Custom Darkness
ORIGINAL: Mr. Mugen Well my best advice is to check and recheck those hinges each flight. They can and will come loose. I just checked all my other planes and found 3 more faulty hinges...[X(] I properly insalled ech and every one of them. Age is their enemy. The stryker was built 3 years ago, with about 50 flights on them. CA gets brittle over time, esp with a BL motor kicking out RPM's (vibrations) 2 inches from the failed hinges. Harmonics played a roll I am sure but it is ultimatley my fault for using the wrong part for the app. Learning is a lifelong process [;)] Here's a pic. Kevin
I am going to have to disagree with you on the CA hinges. My Styrker goes right around 109 mph. I have the regular elevons with good old CA hinges. I have 163 flights on this plane with the same hinges and fly it irratic as heck. Ih ave yet to have a CA hinge come loose on this or any of my planes. They are easy to install and are very durable. I have them on all of my planes and have not had one loose CA Hinge. If you have a history of your planes CA Hinges coming loose, then I would have to say they haven't been installed correctly. Joe

RE: progression from trainer to low wing
Hello Mick. I just recently went to a nice Low Wing [link=http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/159545.asp]Black Horse T-28[/link] low wing. The plane handles great and is very inexpensive and comes with flaps. It will do a couple things that you want. Get you into a warbird and be low wing. I have Magnum 91 2 stroke in it and it is a lot of engine. I would recommend going with a 70 size engine. You won't be disappointed with it. Here is the link to the [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7580738/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm]T-28 building thread[/link] and lots of tips on RC Universe. Hope this helps you out. RE: My First Plane
ORIGINAL: pvtqueball Ok I am Very New to Flying! I just bought my first plane today A steal of a deal I got a  Tower Trainer 40 MKII with a 4 channel Futaba Skysport Remote I belive! I got all of that for 100 dollars the guy who sold it to me flew it 2 times and decided to get a new one but it has never been crashed. Has anyone used this aircraft. I was gonna take it out tommorw but it looks like I will not be able to until friday when the weather gets better. So Here is the Main ? Where is a good place to learn information about flying and what do I need to start learning. I know I am gonna learn some stuff from the members of the R.C Club I joined and from my trainer but what are the main things i need to start learning and where can I go for information. Thanks For All who Respond! Rusty
Rusty you will love the plane. It is very nice handing and easy to set up. You got yourself a heck of deal there. Enjoy. The biggest thing now is to do what you are doing by getting a trainer. The next big step is enjoy yourself and let yourself be ope to suggestions and the learning experience. You will be instantly addicted when you take over the gimbles and fly that plane. As far as when should you go onto the next plane. Like others have said, when you are ready. You will know when you can handle this plane and make it do what you want and have no problems handling it. My instructor ensured that I knew how to fly emilmens (spelling?), rolls, loops, reverse emilmens, split S's, figure 8s, and Cuban 8s before I went on my own. This ensured that I got the full excitement out of flying and not getting bored with flying fast and boring holes in the sky. As far as questions. You can get your ?s answered here and at the field. There is a wealth of experience here and there. You will get all the info you want and sometimes more than what you want but you don't have to worry about not knowing. Congrats and welcome to the addiction. Joe

You can also set these lights up on a switch that costs an additional $12 ( I think that is what it was). With that switch you can use the flaps switch to turn them off and on (just an example). Also email the guy if you have any questions. He was very quick to reply back and more than willing to help out.
