RE: How To - Plug In Wings
If there are some lingering questions about this venture, please PM or email me, as I was/am the financier of this entire operation. I am out to the tune of 25K on this entire fiasco.

RE: How To - Plug In Wings
Sean and others that are reading this thread, It is very obvious to me that N2EC is Avdesh Khaitan (AK) from Kolkata, India, if it is not, this person has acquired the plugs from him and they are stolen property. In either scenerio, the plugs are the design and property of Mike James, and were confiscated by "AK", when Mike was in India. It would be virtually impossible to produce the plugs he has by coincidence. The fact that N2EC produced the plugs is an oughtright lie, so if it isn't AK, he is just as guilty for lieing about where they came from. He also has better than six thousand dollars of my money, paid to him for models that were never produced. I have tried on numerous occasions to contact him and even talked to his father, by the way, another lawyer. His dad told me to contact AK directly, and when I told him that I had tried for months, to no avail, he said that he was in no way responsible for his sons actions. The following quote from N2EC is almost verbatum, what AK's father told me:
I do not want to comment on this issue anymore ...I would suggest that you check with this "AK" about the plugs which you allege were stollen...maybe he can throw some light.
Must be the standard legal statment from Indian lawyers. These people are slicker that STP, and seem to change their names whenever trouble arises. This must be the typical way of doing business in India, as they seem to see who can out-screw the other regularly. Mike is right, the way this guy talks, spelling, use of legal terms (AK is a lawyer), and the questions he ask are very parallel to AK's manorisms. I reference this thread: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_1944856/anchors_2100935/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#2100935 where user CZM was busted for being AK. It will surprise me if N2EC responds the this thread. Mike has painstakingly provided proof of his "ownership" of the plugs in question, I challenge N2EC to provide anything other than defensive statments about the molds. Can not believe he made molds and did not document the process, is there a hint of something smelling "fishey" here? BTW N2EC aka AK, when can I expect payment from you on the money you owe me? "The above statments are mine and I am not speaking from a CM's position. I know these to be the facts, as I was and have been involved with this from the beginning."

RE: Sand / epoxy molds
Blasting beads may be the answer....a bit lighter than sand, uniform round shape and very cheap. I will check on the pricing as compared to "play ground or blasting" sand today. If I remember correctly, it is roughly 1 dollar more than a standard 90 pound bag of sand.

Jetts. I moved the thread to the holding bin, as the post were mostly in reference to the "Supulveda" thread, and posted a follow up in the Clubhouse. Please feel free to start a thread about your club or region and let the "Supulveda" thread run it's own course. Thanks in advance for your understanding.

RE: Sepulveda
Marc, One of the threads was indeed for the people of Oh and Pa...but all the post in it referenced the Suplulveda Basin postings....If the Northeast would like their own "regional" thread, they should start it under that heading, or any other region for that matter.....Regional threads would be a great idea, if they could be/stay on topic

RE: Help Required for Vacum Bagging Fuselages!!!
This is a response to CZM's post on rcgroups.com, and here. CZ, aka Avdesh Khaitan ( http://kadetmodels.com ), (Kolkata, India) We have NOT heard from you in recent history....... It seems a bit strange that you are on the internet, seeking information on VACUUM bagging, when WE were led to believe that the 50 models, that we paid for and have not received, were a part of your famous manufacturing process that included VACUUM bagging along with CNC foam cutting capabilities. You led us to believe that, you had the manufacturing facilities to produce "World Class" fiberglass molds, and models, when in reality, your shop turned out to be a small concrete shed in your back yard....The samples that you sent me, were of such LOW quality, that we have had a hard time, even giving them away. The "Qualified" pattern professionals that have seen your samples, have essentially said, that they were S**T, and would NEVER sell in THIS or any OTHER country. They're twice as heavy as they should be, they are weak structurally, (no spars in the wings!!!!) they (models) use inferior materials in all respects, they are assembled sloppily, finished poorly, and are not even good enough to be called third rate. Your fiberglass work is horrible, the seams are sloppy and show visable seperation, and when you pull the parts out of the box, they are dirty, and the cheap, sloppy packaging can barely make it across town. Every aspect of your "manufacturing" is grossly inferior and OVERSTATED. Your landing gear, which serves as the wing "spar", was sheared in such a way that it leaves sharp dangerous edges at the axle, the cheap wheels were drilled sloppily and wobble, the heat shrink film was done with the skill of a young, inexperienced child. There is a gaping hole in the firewall, covering up another error in your design process, which allows fuel to leak inside the plane. The control surfaces were beveled and hinged poorly, with insufficient throw to be effective, and your control linkages, with the cheap hardware, were binding. Not only were they binding, they were unmovable , because of the poor use of CA on the inferiorior hinge material (Tyvek....?) The only accolade on YOUR website, about your models, is from your DAD....Go Figure.....! and, BTW, when can I expect a FULL refund, of the monies paid to you, for the "50 Models" and Distributorship fee.......? Avdesh Khaitan ("A.K." ), we look forward to your response to the above post. If there are any questions about the above post, or if you want the FULL story about this venture, PLEASE feel free to contact me at, http://www.panacea-engineering.com OR W.C. RE: Joe Nall Commentary
Mike, That seems a bit strange, as I have also spoken to the pilot and plane owner on several occasions after the accident, and there was NEVER any mention of "Lockout" to me. It would seem that if a "Lockout" was the cause, it would have been made aparrent at the time of the crash, not 13 days later in an open forum. The frequency showed clear after the transmitter was turned off, as it was being scanned and shown by a computer monitor. The reason that I would know this is that I was one of the two frequency coordinators for the event, and I was operating the board at the time of this particular crash. If there are any "Facts" of the crash that you would like to present, please feel free to do so.

RE: 3D Frenzy at Joe Nall
DP, Please do make plans to come next year, I can assure you that you have never seen anything like it. To put it simply, it is RC heaven and you will be made to feel at home. If you want to fly, great, if you want to just take a week and immerse yourself in the leading techonology of the RC world it is all available to you. If you just want to camp and be with your friends at a beautiful facility and enjoy the lake, sceneary and hospitality, I can not think of a better place to visit. The Joe Nall is truly the one event that should be on most peoples calanders.[:)] Tax, In reference to the young man you mention (16), we all hope that he has learned some valuable lessons from the past week. It is very hard to second guess why anyone does anything, and I am sure that all of the people involved are asking themselves the same questions. To ask why after the fact, is a moot issue, as all anyone can do is learn from their mistakes. It does no good to hash them out in a forum like this, as it has to do with personal choices and is not for the public to judge. The story of the Yak is true, and only the people involved can answer your questions, if they choose to do so. It is refreshing to see that people at least have some respect for this young man as to not drag his name through the threads, as I am sure that what has transpired has done enough damage on it's own.

RE: 3D Frenzy at Joe Nall
DP, Had you attended the event, you would have seen the frequency control setup during the "controlled" flights. The frequencies were controlled starting after the AM pilots meeting, until the late afternoon F/S show part of the event. Before the pilots meeting and after 5 PM, the flying was on the honor system and the frequencies were NOT controlled. While we did not have a 3K spectrum analyzer, we did have a pretty sophisticated frequency monitoring system using a scanner and a laptop that showed "Hot" channels. During the controlled part of the program, this system saved more than several aircraft. Please understand that we make every effort to make the flying as safe as possible during the program part of the show, free flying is allowed before and after the main part of the show, and it is the pilots responsibility to acquire the pin for his particular channel. The only shoot down that I know of during the controlled part of the event was when a pilot asked for the wrong pin number. The events that are mentioned above were during the times when the frequency board was not manned and the honor system was in place. In reference to the Waco, it was not determined to be a hit, that I know of, as the channel was clear as soon as the radio was turned off. Please remember that there were 500 pilots, all of which, wanted fly. [:)] If there was a perfect system for frequency control, it would have been invented 25 years ago. We are working very hard to provide the safestest flying enviornment and frequency control system that you can have, and more improvements will be made for next year. If you have any further questions about the system we are working on, please feel free to ask. If you want to know how I know, I was one of the two frequency coordinators. Believe me when I say, we ALL feel the hurt when a plane goes in for whatever reason, and to the people that lost aircraft, I am truly sorry for your loss. Before you go blasting an event or a system that was in use, please understand the FACTS, before you post. [X(]

RE: Official Joe Nall 2004 Thread - Post your pictures and links to videos here!
v-snap, I'm not sure that the vendor was the "culprit". As soon as we found out what happened on Saturday morning, the vendor was approched. I personally talked with two people that had purchased the helicopters on Friday, and both of them told me how meticulas the vendor was in explaining the frequency control ststem that was in use there, and a pin was required to fly. From what I gathered, the shoot down happened late Friday as someone was hovering one of the helis at the far North end of the field, and had not pulled the pin. Again, we have to rely on the honor system and that the pilots understand the frequency pin system and impound their radios until they have the pin in hand. It is next to impossible to monitor every individual that attends a meet of this magnitude. We were constantly broadcasting over the PA system about not turning on your transmitter with out the pin in hand. While we try to cover every base, there is NO perfect system as of yet, but we are truly working on it. Mokken, very sorry for your loss, it looked to be a very nice aircraft.[:o]

RE: Joe Nall Commentary
Kris, The young man that you mention in your third paragraph was admitted to B J Workman Memorial Hospital on Saturday afternoon and remains there as of this morning. I will not discuss his illness or say it had anything to do with his flying ability during the Nall, but our prayers should be with him and his family for a speedy recovery. Update: I just talked with him on the phone, and it looks like he will be heading home this afternoon. Anything that lays you up in the hospital for four days, is serious in my book.

RE: Joe Nall Commentary
Roger, I have no actual information on the thefts other than a police report was filed. To my knowledge, this was the first report of anything being taken since I have been involved with the event. The two carts were taken by people that were not involved with or attending the event. It would be impossible to impound the radios at the gate. We use the honor system and trust the pilots to do the right thing. All we can do is to try and improve the system each year, but there is no perfect frequency system that I know of, if it was, it would have been invented 25 years ago. As for shoot downs, yes there were several when we went to the honor system and the pilots pulled their own pins. The only mishap that I know of during the "controlled" frequency part of the event occured because a number was transposed by a pilot. We had a scanner set up that scanned all of the active frequencies and showed the "active" ones on a laptop. This new system saved several aircraft, as we compared the frequencies asked for to what was "hot" on the screen. There will be much more improvement next year, such as logging out when a pin is taken so we can get it back in a reasonable time, hence stopping the pin hogging. If you were flying you know the system. If you are wondering how I know, I was one of the two frequency coordinators controlling the pins. I must say that ALL of the pilots that we encountered were helpful, extremely friendly and generally understood the logistics of controlling the frequencies with 500 pilots wanting to get to the flight line. I left the site around lunch time today and I can tell you that there was a Futaba 8UAFS in it's case, left at the gazebo lost and found table with a bunch of sunglasses and other minor items. I was onsite from Wednesday the 5th through today. The CD will contact the owner of the radio and get it back to him.
ORIGINAL: ChrisHays the prices are outrageous, this was one of the lowest turn outs ever (ask the vendors) turn out has been dropping fast the last few years.. i know alot of ppl who will not be attending next year.. and they know quite a few ppl who wont also ..joe nall will be nothing in about 5 years if the owner doesnt get off his butt... <end rant>
Chris, I am also a bit curious as to what prices you thought were outrageous, as I am one of the staff members that help with the event. Also, I am wondering about the "turn out" numbers that the Vendors gave you, as they would have No knowledge of the gate receipts. If for some reason their products weren't selling, it is really not a very good indicator of the amount of people in attendance. I did ask the Vendors and they said it was one of the best years they have ever had. BTW, the owner (Pat Hartness) built that facility, out of his own pocket, for modelers and the hobby, and I would be glad to pass along any request that you may feel are necessary to get him off of his butt. Triple Tree Aerodrome is probably the finest RC flying facility in the world.

RE: What to do about a bad LHS.
Ken, It is OK to post the name of the store as long as what you post is factual. Some people have a tendency to exaggerate when they feel they have been done wrong. Stating what you know to be facts and not hearsay, will go a long way in pursuing your cause. If you stick with the facts, it does not leave much room for rebuttal. I would try to seek out one other first hand source for information on how this HS operates. As long as it is from the person it happened to and not hearsay, it will be fine.
