RE: Elan Has Arrived!
ORIGINAL: BaldEagel Heliman This is what it looks like inside, one of my beareres had a knot in it so it split on the knot line, I aim to replace the bearers with laminated ply and reinforce the ribs with a larger gluing seat for the same, I will also Tenon in the middle lamimate of ply into a replacement ply web. Mike EDIT: to add clearer pic of knot in the bearer.
Ok So I must say Alan is !00% great to deal with After talking with him I started working on my Elan. After 11hrs and some change It's ready to fly again, I checked my beam and found no knots. the repair was not as hard as it looked to be. Only is there is a low dpot in the upper skin that I can not access to repair. I hate looking at it but at altitude I guess should not be visible[;)] Anyway hope to get in the air next weekend and burn some more Fuel. Thanks for all the replies and helpful information and may Elan have many more flights before retiring, And thanks Again Alan maybe next year I can come to London and Check out your hangar and burn some fuel.

RE: Elan Has Arrived!
Here is what it looks like now[>:] Not even sure where to start at this point. looks like I will need to remove the skin on bottom to glue the beam and repair the rib the loose. and some how put the skin back on. I checked on the price of a new fuse $400.00[sm=spinnyeyes.gif] Hopefully I can get it fixed again without looking like a warthog.

RE: Elan Has Arrived!
So I maiden the Elan yesterday and she flies great and lands easy. Was impressed with the speed and control even at the higher speeds. the first take off for some reason it did'nt seem to want to rotate and take off. So a slight yank of up elevator and up and away. After that take off was a little nervous for that flight but after a few more flights much better. Ok so on my 3rd landing the left rear main folded back. was not a hard landing so I was puzzled. my elan weighs 23.275 lbs with a Jetcat P120 so not too heavy CG is within 1/16th of an inch. So anyway I just opened it up today and found the left rear main mount beam was not glued to the formers the one at the end and next one in. which caused the gear to fold I think. I hope I can repair the ribs and get the skin back over after repair. Anyone else have this problem? Or am I the lucky one. Even with this I do love this Jet hope to get flying again soon. If Not able to repair will have to wait till I get back to work. to buy another fuse. Also anyone know where to get the grey paint or what paint code it is?
Yes it has a groove for cable here is a link. they make them to fit most servos brands. It also has a rataining bolt http://www.horizonhobby.co.uk/aeroonline/e1hangar9/e1accessories/e1radio/e1radio2.html

RE: Elan Has Arrived!
I know it's been gone over many times but here is how I set my steering servo up. I put my servo on the other side of the bulkhead as not to be in the way of gear
