RE: Opinions please!!! New engine running crappy
heres some info
1) Locate the low and high RPM jets on the side of the carb - they are usually marked with a L and a H. Turn both jets completely CLOCKWISE ( to the fully closed position). 2) Rotate the Low jet counter-clockwise to 1 and 1/4 turns open. 3) Rotate the High jet counter-clockwise to approx 1 and 3/8 turns open. 4) Now, start the engine. You may need to turn the Low jet slightly one way or the other for the engine to start. 5) Adjust the Low jet as desired until the idle is where you like it. Turning clockwise ("CLOSING" THE JET) will produce a higher idle, and counterclockwise ("OPENING" THE JET) will produce a lower idle (and eventually flood and the engine will kill, if you turn it too far). 6) Open the throttle lever to full blast. Adjust the High jet until you get maximum RPMs. Note: this will probably be REALLY LOUD. Listen for the highest-pitched whine to tell you where max RPMs are hit. AFTER YOU FIND THE MAX RPM SETTING, TURN THE HIGH JET COUNTER-CLOCKWISE ("OPEN" THE JET) APPROX 1/16TH OF A TURN TO ENSURE YOU HAVE SUFFICIENT GAS/OIL MIX TO COOL THE ENGINE PROPERLY. Note: The above are just general guidelines. You may need to adjust both the H and L screws once you begin driving, depending on engine loading, altitude, humidity, etc. The trick is to find settings that work well for you, and stick with them.
RE: Why upgrades are needed!!
I think that companies that make RC cars should sell totally RTR upgraded versions..... As they find out their short commings... the future models should include the upgraded parts needed as a thank you to all the customers who did the infield on the go testing for them. Some people like to do their own work others dont......... I think it sucks when you spend $800-1000 on a vehicle only to find out you need another $500-600 in upgrades ...........................Nice Photos Teamchrome where you guys running Kent or Auburn??

RE: Engage Rc alloy wheels/beadloc rings
ORIGINAL: Ballistic Lunacy
ORIGINAL: Pro5thScaleDistributors Your right, but the problem is, there material is terrible compared to 6061 or higher here in the USA. They may say it's 6061, but I am positive it is well below standards. I am just sharing my opinion on the issue of there material that I have experienced first hand.
My experience of Chinese aluminium has been about the same as any other that I've come across, I've seen parts from many manufacturers fail, more so the ones that make a big deal out of 'billet' 6061. Like any manufacturer the Chinese are going to make parts to specification, if they are told to make it from 6061 or 7075 they will do that, if they are told make it as cheap as poss out of whatever they like and keep the cost low then they will also do that. I have examples of 3Racing and GPM parts which have lasted well over 10 years which have not failed and have not presented fitting problems, then I have USA/Canada parts which are the complete opposite. If a part is made in China for a western brand and is junk who do you blame? The Chinese that made it or the Company that specified its design and material requirements? People go to china to have things made on the cheap - who's fault is that? Do you think the manufacturer is going to do anything other then spec and risk loosing the contract with the company they are contracted to? You can find many examples of quality product to come out of China for various other western brands and then some absolutely appalling rubbish for other brands, the problem isn't because it was made in China, its because it was made to a specification that was lacking.
Thats a good point!!! Put them blame for shotty materials where it belongs.....not with the manufacturer

RE: Fs truck Or MCD clone ?
I own every vehicle mentioned in this thread. Smartech Titan has a 3 bolt head..you can not purchase any head kit and use it..... it wont work FS vehicles are ok.....the first thing to go will be your bearings and shock forks Redcats have a few weak areas also but the support of the aftermarket companies that support the baja are a big plus.....lots of parts and support

RE: DDM pipe vs clone pipe...
Most of the "Big mod US shops" you refer to are geared towards the Baja or vehicles that use the same partsas the Baja....tell smartech hes bad for the hobby he started 1/5 with a very good clone. 3-4 years ago, as far as 1/5 vehicles we had FGs or Firehammers/XTM/Travellers Traxxas to choose from that was about it. Now there as so many different models you cant count them on your fingers
ORIGINAL: mikeinoz I have just fitted up a Carson Titan pipe, fitted well just had to drill a hole for the front mount. I also brought the fuel pickup to the back of the tank by pulling the fuel tube thru the grommet, then cut of the excess hose so the fuel should be easier for the carby to suck in.
I used the same pipe for the first model works great [image]http://www.fg-hopups.com/images/00214.JPG[/image]

RE: Nutech Thunderbolt II - Out of the box pics.
I think if Nutech wants to be in the game.... they need to set a price equal to the Redcat 4x4 buggy around $700 or have different options like a roller alot of us pull the stock engines right off the bat or use our own radio equipment and servos. I like the new body does it fit on the older version Foxy?? Atleast the aircleaner has some coverage now!!
