RE: Carolina 1/2A Crew Fly-In and Reedie Race
ORIGINAL: build light
ORIGINAL: BobHH Hollis, is that the Baby Ringmaster with .049 and built up wing? I want to build one of those. I won my first control line contest when I was around 6 years old with one of those. Do you have the plans? Bob Harris
Unfortunatly the assembly inst. looked like this and while with the right attitude you could scale up the outlines in the corner, the ribs are still to be want. Robert
Yeah, that's what I have. I made templates of everything but the ribs! Back on topic, I hope all works out for a good event in April.

Bob Harris
Hi Bob, Yes, the Baby is .049 and has the built up wing (the Beginner has the sheet wing). I have the kit "plan" but it is just an isometric drawing showing how the parts go together since the kit was die cut parts and the le and te were notched for the ribs. I made patterns of all the parts except the ribs[:(] before I built it. I have two kit boxes that I kept. I built my first on around 1979. I had built and flown many 1/2A CL planes before that. I'll hang on to it until the event if you would like to take some measurements.

At the moment, 4/17/10 is good for me. I also have some 1/2A control line. A Beginner Ringmaster is ready and a Baby Ringmaster and sheet combat plane await paint.

RE: Carolina 1/2A Crew Fly-In and Reedie Race
Early April works best for me. The end of April through the middle of May I'm occupied with a lot of family committments. Sounds like fun. I have an EP Seawind that would qualify for the water flying and a Qwik-Shot that hasn't seen a race yet.

RE: It's back.. test flight this afternoon.
Back in '91 I had the idea to use a single Ace panel to make a Micro Hots. I flew it on a TD .020. I know of three others that were built from my drawing. This was when a Futaba S133 was "the" (affordable) micro servo. It used a full size four channel Futaba Rx too. I really should revisit this since it can be done lighter now.

I don't bother to remove them. Underneath a low temp covering like TowerKote, they look like rivets!
ORIGINAL: Andrew
ORIGINAL: iflyg450 .....I like that tail configuration, the V-Tail linkage was a pain to make.
Bob certainly didn't waste any wood on that vertical fin. I would have thought it needed a little more area to keep the plane from hunting in the straights.
The vertical area is fine. I don't see any tracking issues with it at all. I made it this way because it was easy. I like easy.

RE: Lady Bug
Hey, Bug mania! I'm finishing one also. This is my third. I built the first two in '99. The first one flew away when the battery died while flying. I lost a perfect running PAW .033. I built the replacement and killed it losing the wing doing some wicked outside snaps in a dive. So, 10 years later I'm doing another, also with the PAW .033. This is the 18" version and weighs 1.85 oz. at this point.

Bob Harris Quik Shot
I finally installed the equipment and flew it four flights yesterday. It's been built and covered for over a year. Cox Golden Bee with APC 4.2X4 prop. It weighs 8.95 ounces with a Spektrum AR6100 Rx, two E-Sky 8g servos, 2S400 LiPo with a Blue Arrow voltage regulator. Flys great. I need to put a race number on the wing and then I'll call it finished.

Hard core addicts. If you only hold one or two races a year what the heck do you do for the other ten months? Play on RCU?
Well, we are upwards of 5 hours apart between Vicman and Raymond, so its not like a weekend get together or we probably would do more...plus its at my clubs field and I have to clear it.....Rog and absolutely no one in my club is into 1/2a/..too squirrely for them,,,
And that's about how long it takes me to drive there. It is a big investment in time and resources, but well worth it when the timing has met my schedule. Thanks Rog for your efforts in hosting these events. I would love to host at our club field if people would do the drive. We have only 8 members and I'm the prez, so no problem getting the field. Vicman has been to our field when the Grace project was launched, and it is much improved since then.

It started with cats and dogs (see above) and it may be raining hippos and elephants by now. Guys, give him a break; have you ever tried to load an ark after the rain has started? Seriously, look at the weather data for MD. I think he could have flown it by now.

Congratulations Steve. 9/29/77 for me. You never forget the date. Mine was in a Cessna 152. I remember I was told to expect to lift off sooner, but I was really surprised at the performance when that 190 lbs of instructor was missing. He had me do two patterns with touch and goes and a full stop.

RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk
ORIGINAL: gettojoey88 Hey everyone!!! I have a little problem but a easy fix but i cant figure it out and i know that anyone with a 22e will be able to tell me this..... heres my problem. I took apart my whole heli to clean it all up and when i put it back togeather i came to one problem. My servos are pluged into the wrong places in my receaver and i cant figure out what one goes in what hole. i only have 3 servos of course and all 3 plug into either 1, 2 or 3 or at least i though they did. So what i need is a pic that clearly shows me what servo goes in what slot on the receaver so i can get this baby flying again! thanks alot everyone!
Looking at the heli from the rear, the servo up front by itself plugs into #1. The left side rear plugs into #2. The right side rear plugs into #3. Hope this helps. I don't have my 22E any more (I had 3 at one time) but I made these notes when I took the stock radio out and put in a Spektrum and seperate gyro (that didn't work out). Where in SC are you? I'm in Barnwell.

RE: And we thought we were good!
I built one 3 years ago and powered it (sacrilige I know) with a Feigao 12mm motor on 2S250 LiPo, so I had rudder and throttle. I flew it at SMALL 3 years ago and up at Mammoth Spring with Tom Anderson and George Smith. I might spray some butyrate on it and hang an .010 on the nose.
