Why do people like building tugs?
I am sure that everyone has their own reasons, but i was wondering why people enjoy building tug boats so much. They don't go fast, they aren't that good looking. Just wanted to know everyone's opinion. i think i like them because they are so "to scale".

RE: Prime Time Accessory Ideas
I am also going to be building this model starting in January. I think that a stair case would be nice that goes from the lower deck to the upper deck would be nice. A foghorn would be nice as well. They make running lights for boats, I think that the manufacturer is MAX. I am not sure though. You could always get a trained squirrel to ski behind the boat too like that one guy. I heard of people putting in a working shower and jacuzzi, might be over board and someone mentioned weight problems. Its a big boat though. If you get the bikini clad models maybe you could get "Girls Gone Wild" to sponcer the boat. Just a thought. If you are going to be taking pictures, make sure that you take a picture of the hull right out of the box. I wanted to see how well the hull looks right out of the box.

RE: Looking for advice on 1st sailboat
CR914 all the way. Easy and you won't have to worry about wanting more speed. Just tune it a bit and you are ready for 10 mph sailing.

RE: New Boat Help
Wow, where do I start. I learned the hard way on everything with my Runabout. Mine looks like a dream now but there were a bunch of moments where I didn't think it would turn out. I spent around 2 months about 3 days a week for around 4 hrs. So in total around 100 hrs. There is a book that DUMAS sells which will help with most of the details. My only suggestion is to make sure after you are done sanding anything...you are only halfway done. Sand it again. When you are finally done, you will be glad that you took the extra time. With all wood boats, sanding is extremely important. Also if you are going to apply finishing resin to your hull, make sure to get a smooth flexible squeegee (I'm too lazy to look up the spelling) to smooth out the resin. Good Luck. Oh one more thing, I removed the spring from my two channel remote so that when i use the forward or reverse, the boat keeps a constant speed. It is just a little more fun to look at when the boat is just coasting along the pond bank.
